    The comments in the Kentucky article are overwhelmingly positive, which is a very good sign. I'm excited for the hire. Would I have preferred Masiello? Yes. But that's something we cannot control. As far as a second choice, Antigua is perfect.

    If one of his former jobs had checked his resume he could have fixed this issue a long time ago. I honestly am starting to feel bad for the guy.

    Because in Florida having a degree is a requirement to coach at a public university. USF had no other option than to void the agreement. As far as Pitino, I believe he honestly thought Mas had a degree. Louisville should have followed up and verified his credentials regardless. Even you should admit to that.

    As a long time union supporter, member, and current union representative, I disagree with this ruling. Students are not employees and therefore do not have the right to unionize. More than likely this will get overturned in a higher court.

    O'Leary lied about having a master's degree. If he would have lied about having a BA I'm sure UCF wouldn't have hired him either.

    can anyone just call up a school's registrar office and obtain anyone's records or does permission have to be granted by the individual? No. If a school gives out info without a signed release, they're in violation of FERPA. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FERPA Hmmmm... If that's the case I no longer think USF did anything wrong by not doing the background check before hand. Moving on now..... That Mike White guy sounds like a good person to hire......

    Basically, USF had no choice but to rescind the offer. Masiello would have been a great coach, but at the end of the day, we should win and follow the rules. I would have preferred that we found this earlier, but USF has made the right choice. USF is having a press conference today to explain what happened and why a background check wasn't conducted prior to the job offer. Should be entertaining...

    On 98.7 this morning, Jim talked to his source at USF and said that he believed that a degree is required to coach at any public university in Florida because of state law.
