  1. You had me until you said "through Skip's south Tampa neighborhood," because it went from getting a message out to the university to harassment.
  2. Please understand I never said I was against athletics. I do believe that a succesful program can help a university. I am only against asinine statements, such as "Going back to academic schools vs. REAL schools (i.e. football schools), I don't see many people obsessing over and spending tons of $$ on the UPenn Chess team or spelling bee team. I also don't recall UPenn or MIT being in the top ten most well known schools in America, having tens of millions in merchandise sold each year, or having entire multi-billion dollar TV networks set up to broadcast their activities" Sports are not everything to a university.
  3. How is it off-topic? Doug and Judy's mission in life should be to get USF out of the BE? I am of the opinion their life goal should to build a respectable university. Talking about reputable universities and comparing them to "real football schools" is very relevant and on-topic.
  4. I am willing to bet you have never even looked at a "top ten most well known schools in America" list. So why claim it? Do you even fact check? A simple google search? Let me do that for you. Disclaimer: I did this in under a minute. Here are some relevant lists I found: http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-universities http://www.usnews.com/education/best-colleges/articles/2012/01/24/the-most-popular-national-universities http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/world-university-rankings/2011-12/world-ranking/region/north-america http://www.forbes.com/top-colleges/list/ Are you seeing a trend yet? Where are all those popular SEC schools? UPenn may not sell merchandise for their chess team or compete for BCS championships in football, but have you checked out their endowment? "Penn said its endowment stood at $6.8 billion at the end of June, up from the $6.58 billion reported a year ago when the school earned an 18.6 percent gain on its assets." (http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/09/21/pennsylvania-endowment-idUSL1E8KLI5020120921) Compared to... say, Alabama: $616,925,376 (http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/university-of-alabama-1051) What has USF taught you lately? Did you take a bunch of easily online classes?
  5. Most of you really need to get out of your bubble. Especially if you do not know what UPenn is. Comparing and correlating highly successful academic programs (with history that none of you probably know) with... football national championships is silly. Quit being too simplistic.
  6. No. You must be new here. No post here is ever new. It is the same regurgitated bs.
  7. I am more saddened by fans that overreact like you. You act as if you never dealt with losing before. Let me guess: in your little league games... every one was a "winner." & you grew up being a Yankees, Lakers, and (insert any other winning team that people bandwagoned on). Losing must be new to you. Grow up.
  8. Correlation does not imply causation. ... Something like that.
  9. That is ridiculous. Just because an undefeated BE team can't make a nat'l championship this year does not mean we should pull back funding that will affect the program for years to come. Don't be so shortsighted.
  10. Well that settles that. Nothing else to talk about until basketball season. Lets all go watch youtube kitty videos instead.
  11. Is that what makes you feel better about our team? I don't understand what you are getting at with arguing with him about Mizzou.
  12. Quit trying to sound smart. What would be the point of relating w/ players... if it is not for success? For fun? I am pretty sure success was implied. Good day.
  13. Yay for posts that do not address anything related to the original post. ... I'm a hypocrite.
  14. I heard the war flamingo is a wonderful tradition that is catching on.
  15. I cannot be the only one that rolls their eyes whenever I hear how great it is to have "NFL amenities" at a college football game. ... or am I?
  16. Some of you must live in a bubble if you think college football is what makes or breaks a school.
