  1. Disagree, MOST G5 grads are fans of P4 schools and most of those are fans of the P4 school over their own school. The reason I say that is typically G5’s don’t play meaningful games, and G5 students failed to g at into their P4 school and it’s their backup plan/education only school. We here are USF fans first and foremost, but our small percentage won’t make the P4’s flinch; they would rather have the control of only their own winning rather than some small school pulling an upset. They are literally out for themselves as evidenced by the Big East and PAC 12 deaths. G5 games aren’t even televised on main stream channels anymore.
  2. Ultimately, the worst mistake we have ever made was going to Adidas. Since then everything has gone downhill including our brand value
  3. I’m with you on that. I’m done with college sports, I’ll only watch USF and that’s it at this point.
  4. The absolute pathetic thing about this is that what was previously being protected by the NCAA (student athletes, regional rivalries and traditions) have now gone by the way side for money. Now the athletes get paid (some 500k or more) can leave for the highest bidder, teams travel cross country and academics have been kicked to the curb and the media channels have orchestrated all of it……. How is this college football? It is what it is, it’s NFL Jr and they should just do a 48 team league with (4) 12 team divisions and a 16 team playoff. Except now it would be “Gator Football” brought to you by the University of Florida…..
  5. WSU and OSU bring nothing but costs to the ACC, UCONN and USF are better adds. Bridging the gap for Cal and Stanford are the ones that bring value, but that’s ALOT of traveling.
  6. Hypothetically, if the ACC loose FSU and Clemson, that would greatly reduce the average stadium size and anyone they add would be around our proposed stadium.
  7. It is a big bet, but the cost of building the stadium will not sink USF, therefore the benefits outweigh the risks.
  8. If they trimmed FAU, UAB, UNT and Charlotte from this list, it would be an OK conference.
  9. Completely agree with you, I would gamble too, but, only if the money is considerably better AND they find a way to keep their P5 status. If those two things happen, I would be all for the move without hesitation.
  10. Agree with your points, but this is a part of the total package. I like that they are targeting 35k with potential for more. In terms of improving our conference situation, winning IS #1, but while that is happening, we need to work on the other neglected areas and that’s where the IPF and OCS come into play. I think the conference expansion circus is going to explode, but idk when and therefore, I do believe that USF has to do everything it can NOW in preparation; as to help our chances of landing in a good spot. In terms of the stadium cost, IF we get back to winning 7 or 8 games a year, we will have enough attendance to pay for it, which I think is doable in the AAC; but as you said, the OCS alone won’t do it, but it is a part of the equation.
  11. If you are talking about building the OCS JUST to get into a P4 conference, then yes, you are correct; BUT, I don’t look at it like that. It’s an investment in our university, athletes, students, alumni and city. As we have mentioned before, we need butts in the seats and forever fans. Winning gets the bandwagon fans, but experience and tradition create forever fans. The OCS will improve game day experience, alumni will come back with children and grandchildren, students can walk to the game, athletes can see and feel USF, recruiting other sports can showcase the universities investment and interest in successful sports, we can have a USF football HOF/museum, other activities can be held there bringing more people to campus. Lastly, it shows other conferences that we are committed to USF sports AND have better control over finances (albeit the loan, but other revenue streams from tickets, concessions and apparel). It is a big step in an athletics department overhaul and paradigm shift. There are many ways to look at it, tho some choose to only look at it from one vantage point, the others points exist as well, and that’s a reality.
  12. The Pac4 could add teams from both the MWC and AAC to form the best of the G5’s. Of these candidates, Rice does not bring the Houston market, that’s already spoken for and amI am not convinced SMU has the Dallas market locked down, especially with cord cutters. We would absolutely bring Tampa if we are good and playing good teams. The issue I see, if we join the Pac4, the GoR and Buy out would be horrific and any chance at the ACC in the future would be jeopardized for this short term move.
  13. I don’t disagree, I just could imagine how their schools and fan bases feel quite honestly, if the MWC could add all 4, I would agree it’s a better conference than the AAC, which would suck for us.
  14. What’s insane is how Oregon St, Wash St, Stanford and Cal all feel right now. It was one thing when the Big East collapsed, most of the leftovers were newly promoted G5’s, these are historically P5 schools being demoted. Especially Cal and Stanford who have given good P5’s with history. It’s a sad day for college football.
  15. Haha, naw son, my Lions will be legit this year. There is too much talk of Super Bowl in Vegas, but I definitely think we CAN win the NFC North, I predicting 11-6
  16. I bet the B12 wishes they held out a little liner and the could have avoided UCF, Cincy and Houston and absorbed the PAC12, haha.
  17. Yeah, I hear ya. I just think the B1G is in a bit of a pickle with USC and UCLA being the only west coast teams. I would have thought they’d be all in on Oregon and UW to help out.
  18. I don’t think we want a “collapse”; I think we just want FSU and Clemson to go to the SEC and the ACC to add USF and UCONN. I believe this would be ideal for us.
  19. This would be best for USF’s interest. If there was a PAC/ACC agreement, I think that would kill our chances of getting into a P5; but, a PAC/MWC is still a weak conference (and a full number of teams) and the ACC could still lose FSU/Clemson and that would open the door for us to get in.
  20. You are spot on with this! The smaller 10-12 team conferences with a playoff would create more opportunities for MOST schools rather than a the FEW power schools getting most of the opportunities; it’s a microcosm of economics (support small businesses). We are the consumers and we have empowered these moves by continuing to watch and buy into it (by us, I mean America). There’s nothing wrong with power teams, as long as it doesn’t turn into a monopoly, which is what’s happening. It would have been much better if the Big East stayed together, I don’t think you would have this huge conference expansion situation we have now.
  21. It is, BUT, is FSU and Clemson leave, it maybe the best thing for USF.
  22. Thanks @Brad for creating and running this site, it’s my only connection to the USF community way up here in Michigan, thanks OG’s for being steady here all these years and thanks to everyone that’s sticking around, I appreciate you.
  23. I think the island thing is not very impactful. It would save UCF one trip somewhere else every year for their teams, I would think UCF would take that over us being in the Big12 with them.
  24. I actually think that could be a good thing for USF, the more teams say no to the ACC, the better our chances are of getting an invite.
