  1. There's speaking with him and there's interviewing him. If it gets out you checked in with Brey's people or vice versa and nothing happens, whatever. No traction. We did our due diligence. By "interviewing" him and then moving on... we look silly posturing as if this is the kind of job Brey should want and not a given based on his track record. However, I'm hoping Kelly's move makes me eat my words and I go, "ahhhhhh, so and so was his guy all along, but he let Brey give him the pitch for why he was the guy." Brey is a solid 7 at the bar and we're lucky to be a 3. If she's going to let you in her pants, finish your ******* drink, pay her tab, and take her home. Don't sit there asking about her hopes and dreams and get mad when they don't align with yours.
  2. That was essentially my point. if Brey is your guy, you have your people reach out to his people to find out what the money situation is. He doesn't set foot on campus until we're 90% there and ironing out numbers, which we should already know what its going to take to get him. You're not interviewing Brey as if there's anything he can say or do that makes him more or less attractive. I bet Kelly has you fill in all your information in the online application AND upload the resume, too. You interview assistant coaches, you skip right to talking numbers when it's Brey or Pitino and you sure as **** don't get surprised by his answer when he's on campus.
  3. You need help and a beer. Do you hit up baseball games? The next game we converge on I've got a couple for you.
  4. If we hire him, that's actually a pretty funny middle finger. If we don't, we look like it's take your kid to work day.
  5. Did you make a spreadsheet just to try and argue Skip Holtz wasn't far better than an average coach before coming to USF?
  6. I couldn't give a **** if he can tell you the three letters in our abbreviation.
  7. Yup. The interview is barely even a formality. It's giving him his hotel, rental car, and the keys to every athletic building on campus.
  8. There is no way we don't know what number it's going to take to sign him and we have 30 years to look at for what kind of coach he is. If you interview him without giving him the job, it's amateur hour.
  9. If he actually interviewed Brey, he's already ****** this process up. We might end up with a good coach, but that isn't because his process was sound.
  10. Only we could "interview" a guy who's been a head coach for 30 years and not already know if we're hiring him or not.
  11. Mike Brey reportedly lands coaching job at USF before Notre Dame introduces his successor Mike Brey didn't want it to end the way it ended this year at Notre Dame, so he's back in college coaching at USF, where a tough task awaits. Can he do it?
  12. Football contracts are the best. 72 years and 1 billion... 2 million guaranteed if he doesn't miss a snap in the next season.
  13. Just identify the most bland retread and/or most vanilla assistant out there. Our pick will be one of those.
  14. Happily take him on the Bears. Love to see a few Fields to Wilcox TDs next year.
  15. Is Seminole Heights considered the "rich" part of Tampa now?!? Holy ****! Did I accidentally become a thing?
  16. On the hard streets of Seminole Heights, you know what they say about snitches...
  17. Good in 2021. Bounced in 2 games in the tourney, but still made it as a regional #2 seed. Mediocre in 2022. I can't get that excited about a team that finishes 10-14 in the RPI #12 conference. Off to a nice start this year. We'll revisit this at the end of the season and see if they still look like world beaters and we still look like ass.
  18. Let me rephrase... We got embarrassed by a team that finished 6th in the 12th best conference last year, by RPI. This year, they were voted to finished 4th in the CAA. Bad is a little too strong. But, I don't know if I'd be confident calling them good just yet.
  19. If we can kick into high gear next year, we might move to bottle feeding.
  20. We're a homecoming visitor in football right now. We got curb-stomped by a bad NE baseball team. And we're not exactly circled on anyone's calendar in MBB. Baby steps.
