So nothing special.
They haven't played the Bulls yet. That is the measuring stick for greatness this season.

Wichita finally gets a conference win and first win in 2024 at SMU's expense. Nice finish by Wichita State.

Don't follow them but has FAU done anything this year to deserve their ranking or is it because they made the final four last year?
Depends on what you mean by "done anything". Had a good win against Arizona right before Christmas and a week later lost to Florida Gulf Coast. The also had a painful early season loss to Bryant but just beat North Texas, who looks decent.

It appears that VP MK has made good hires for BB and FB. That was a fun experience today.
What a difference a year makes in perception.

South Florida Set a New Record for 3-Pointers in Victory - USF Athletics

TAMPA, Fla. (January 27, 2024) – The University of South Florida men's basketball team returned to the Yuengling Center for an American Athletic Conference contest with...I thought someone had spiked my Ovaltine. This long-in-the-tooth Bulls basketball fan didn't believe what I was seeing. Truly fun to watch right now.

I'm sure that our we are only a swanky new bachelor pad away from dating all the hot conferences.

Not so surprising. Central Michigan, Hofstra, Maine and UMass not ranked either even though they all have at least one good win by those criteria. But it really doesn't much matter if we keep winning through the season and the AAC Tournament.

His media consultant is a genius. If only The Jim had one like that.

When it comes to Florida expansion for the B1G, Tampa/Miami makes far more sense than Tallahassee. If we can really continue to excel these next 3 years while FSU is in their legal battle - why wouldn't USF become a viable target for the B1G? Ultimately I think the best case scenario for USF is that FSU lawsuit takes a couple of years, USF (obviously) continues to win in media draw sports, we win our conference at least once in both sports, flirt with or make the CFP, FSU settles for a sum that no other ACC school can handle in the short term, and then FSU goes to the SEC and is paired with Kansas. This will not only open the door for USF to the ACC, potentially become a player for the B1G, remove the top remaining brand from the B12, stabilize the ACC further until nearly 2036, and (hopefully) increase support across the board for USF from fans, alumni, and local business alike.
Support, show up, donate. Go Bulls.
WOW. That took a ton of thought. And special logic. The kind of logic you get from the expensive stuff on the side of a mountain in Colorado, watching the sun go down, and come back up again.
Visionary breakthrough.

Very good news, although I understand that pain in her backside is still lingering around....

a future Home National Championship Game when ... we drop down to FCS
Unfortunately, this immediately came to my mind as a foreshadowing. But I am great with this as side hustle for USF.

I am debating making that trip ... also contemplating the men's and women's games at ECU.
I don't think anything can get me to go to Greenville again.

I plan to make the long trip down from Hickory to Charlotte. Now contemplating other opportunities to watch what has become an entertaining bunch. AAC tourney beckons but may have a family conflict.

"Lanky, quirky" is a fitting description of KP. Also liked the invite at the end. We need to invite many more to the party.

I don’t know that Selton actually had an off game. I think Wichita really paid him extra attention and then he forced some things
Oh, I wasn't knocking his play against Wichita. Just noting that others stepped up to replace his scoring, which hasn't always happened in the past.

If nothing else, he should get an award for most entertaining player to watch. It's hard to describe him and his game but it sure is fun.

If we win 20 games and/or win the AAC tourney, why is it a long shot?
It's not a long shot if you keep throwing winning the tourney in there. Nobody's saying it's a long shot to win this conference's tourney the way this team looks ..
I just think it's got to be win the tourney to get in. We'll see and I hope this team makes it a moot point and just wins it all.

Or AAC conference tourney this year? Just curious if turnaround has elevated interest at all and, if so, where.
-
Crazy, unpredictable, not always classically pretty but often a lot of fun.
I will be really interested to see how this season unfolds and how the Bulls ultimately fare.

Not bragging, but I think USF could play with most of the football teams in the Big East.

Pryor an amazing 35-38 the past three games.
It seems unreal and so un USF-like. I almost cry every time he makes one.

Again, this conference is nuts. Remainder of season and tournament should be fun.
