  1. Benefit his health? Didn't Vincent Jackson have something health related too? Are we getting a sign that our training staff is either really bad, or unethical? Weird to say that it will benefit his health to get out of here. Mental health maybe, but that's not how this reads.
  2. Has there been any connection? I actually wouldn't hate this hire. He didn't pan out at Miami, but he wasn't terrible, did better than his replacement this year. He also built an amazing defense there when he was DC. A job with a little less expectation could be OK for him and a good place to rebuild his resume.
  3. Pretty sure you can back out of the portal though... it's more about opening up their recruitment and the new USF coach has the ability to recruit them to stay as well.
  4. I can't believe a staff of short timers just turtled up like that. FFS, we should have been aggressive there.
  5. Just go onside full time. Play to steal a possession or trade tds. Not sure we're going to get any more fumbles.
  6. Skip was given big time money for assistants and hires cusa staff. That was his downfall. If he has hired a good staff, he could have been ok. He's the CEO type, just kind of manage things and let others do the real work, but his others were not up to snuff.
  7. Couldn't coach fans have been clamoring for also include Leavitt?
  8. I'd be fine with him staying, but we really have to let our head coach pick his guys. I think Leavitt could see the value in keeping him though. Continuity on offense while the defense is fixed would be a good thing.
  9. Need Battie back their for this kickoff. Run it back, onside, score with 00 on the clock. It's our only hope.
  10. Gotta have Battie in the game for 4th down. Also, it's fun that BB is 18 for 18, but it's time to stop protecting him and go to sling the rock mode.
  11. Agreed. Our defense was really **** good when everyone was complaining about so many penalties.
  12. Was there about to be a mutiny on Scott? Is that why he was fired in season? Seems like some of these coaches actually don't suck.
  13. Not to beat a proverbial dead horse, but who thinks Leavitt couldn't move this defense up 20+ spots next season?
  14. It's mid way through the 3rd and I know we are going to lose, but I am actually having some fun watching USF football... that's kind of cool.
  15. This... There are maybe 3% of jobs in the world that people worry about where you went to school. If anything, good ole boy network is priority vs any actual institution and that GOB network exists because people have ties to their school... and often times, at least in the south, that is football. I am sure there are law firms up north that only hire Harvard grads, but if you dig, I bet they would say that Harvard is the best school and that is why we look there, but the reality is that the people making the decisions went there, have ties there, probably get good candidates from there and don't feel the need to branch out. Down here, I suspect a UF degree could open a few doors for you, or could be the deciding factor between 2 equal candidates, but it's not because people have a reverence of their education, it's because people are addicted to their football program. And, if I have to work with this person 40+ hours per week, at least there is a built-in conversation starter at the beginning of every week in the fall. In Florida, it's also geographical. My company has several USF grads in our Tampa office, meanwhile, I have 4 UCF grads working for me.
  16. Didn't know this was happening, probably couldn't have made it today anyway as I was visiting a friend in the hospital who is getting an arm reconstructed due to flesh eating disease. Will look for the next installment, maybe as a poll for a time slot for the next one? Selfishly, with the kids, later evening would be better for me so I can join after they are in bed. Hope you guys enjoyed.
  17. Probably the easiest guy to pull for in program history. I still think Baltimore should have drafted him to backup Lamar.
  18. Except he did... On Gore, I see your point, there is no room for someone who can evaluate talent at the college level. I stand corrected. I did edit my previous post, maybe while you were replying, but you're diving in on specific names when the larger point still remains.
  19. Except the Dolphins - who obviously hired McKenzie, no USF connection, and still they hired him. weird. I get the sentiment that maybe he isn't ready to be DC, I can live with that, but the guy hasn't been unemployed since he started coaching as far as I can tell, so he must be doing something right. And the 49ers who have talked to Gore about joining the organization... And forget about all of that, my main point was now that Leavitt has been away, coached in the NFL, at Colorado, Oregon, FSU, FAU, and SMU, the guy has made more contacts and probably has a lot to draw on from those relationships. I would trust the guy that turned a 2-star center into an All-American DE or a nobody QB into an NFL safety to put the pieces in the right place to succeed.
