  1. I dunno -- I'd rather be getting my ass kicked by 4-1 Kansas than 1-4 UAB. I'd rather be making $50 million in revenue vs $9 million. I'd rather have the #28 recruiting class than the #56 recruiting class. I think the ceiling is higher in the Big 12 than the AAC. A 10 win AAC team is going to get less national attention than even an 8 win Big 12 team. Most news outlets only focus on power conference teams. The question was do I find solace in the fact that UCF is not succeeding in the Big 12. The answer is no -- this is a temporary setback. I'd rather be struggling to find my footing in a power conference than trading blowouts with the dregs of FBS. The advantages they're gaining by being in a better conference outweigh the growing pains now. If you'd ask them if they'd prefer to go back to the AAC, I'm sure the answer would be hell no.
  2. Solace in what way? Like, does it make me feel better about the fact that we're in a watered down G5 conference that's fighting for relevancy and got spanked by a rebuilding team that's one year removed from CUSA under a first-time head coach in front of one of the emptiest stadiums in college football? Not really. Or do I feel better that they're 0-2 in the conference while collecting twice as much money than in the AAC, racking up 4-star commits, playing relevant teams weekly, and building their national brand? Not really.
  3. Are we though? Not sure losing by 21 to a nobody team in an empty stadium is much better than losing by 31 to a power conference team. At least they’re earning big TV dollars and racking up 4 star recruits. We’re getting embarrassed by a team that is only a couple years removed from shutting down their program and are in the conference as an afterthought because we lost three meaningful teams to realignment.
  4. We spotted navy 14 last week so I’m not panicking yet but we look sloppy af so far
  5. Could be both. ICJS is objectively one of the worst head coaches of the past 30+ years — he had a 0.133 record, took a bad team and made it worse, and failed to show any improvement after 3 seasons. On the other hand, CAG took that team, tuned it up with transfers, and looks to have completely overhauled the culture and attitude of the football program. With any luck, after today CAG will have exceeded the win total of the entire CJS tenure midway through his first year.
  6. Pretty sure I've been sick of USF football for a few years. The only remedy is more touchdowns.
  7. USF: Advantages in defensive line, linebackers, and coaching. UAB: Advantage in receivers and secondary. Their conclusion: UAB wins because it's playing for sick kids.
  8. We let an FCS school reel off 33 unanswered points on us in this game.
  9. With as bad as we’ve been for the last 4 years, we shouldn’t take any team lightly but there’s no reason to be more scared of UAB than of Rice or Navy.
  10. VPMK gave CJS an extension after winning 3 games over 2 seasons so the least he can do is extend CAG.
  11. Sanders is name-brand Willie Taggart. He can recruit above his weight class, run an offense, but lives and dies by the shoot out. Can build a program but gets out coached in the big games or lacks the wherewithal to win as an underdog. Wouldn’t go so far as to say we got the better coach out of the deal, yet. Golesh has made some dumb calls so far…
  12. I think it’s best suited to offset the fact that the service academies are relatively smaller on the line
  13. Less than half way into the first quarter and facing a potential must score drive seeing as we’re just as likely to go 3 and out and give it back to them as we are to score.
  14. Too early to be that aggressive, especially with that field position. Stupid stupid call that could put us down by 2 scores before we have a chance to get going.
  15. Wrestling puns on TBP? If you ain’t down with that…
  16. On 10/10/15, we went into the fifth game of the season with an abysmal record of 10-30 over the prior 40 games. USF had started the season by beating Florida A&M, lost to Number 11 Florida State at home, and lost by 18 to a scrappy Maryland team (#87 in Sagarin Rankings at the time) away. In the game against Syracuse, Quinton Flowers stole the show completing 60% of his passes for 259 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs while adding 55 yards on the ground and another TD, leading USF to a 45-24 home victory. We'd go 7-2 for the remainder of the schedule and then 21-4 over the next two seasons in the best stretch of football since the Jim Leavitt era. On 9/23/23, we went into the fourth game of the season with an abysmal record of 5-35 over the prior 40 games. USF had started the season by beating Florida A&M, lost to Number 10 Alabama at home, and lost by 17 to a scrappy Western Kentucky team (#89 in Sagarin Rankings at the time) away. In the game against Rice, Byrum Brown stole the show completing 76% of his passes for 435 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs while adding 82 yards on the ground and another TD, leading USF to a 42-29 home victory. Was this game our 'Syracuse' moment, where we'll finally turn around from the disaster that's been USF football for the better part of five years?
