  1. Basketball was all the BE had left. Under the current format, it will be the best or second best basketball league. If the roundball members leave, we will lose the D.C., New York, and Chicago markets and have nothing of value to market that CUSA didn't have. Anybody seriously think this is good for a school trying to build its image as a national player?
  2. Truly a great person and a great writer...I always look for him at USF events (like a where's waldo), and get super excited when I spot him!
  3. I feel like Victor Rudd is Jeckyll and Hyde...He could lift the team or kill it depending on the night.
  4. well we had a chance at a big non-conference win. We now have to pick up all the little ones and do well in conference.
  5. WKU was widely considered the worst team in 1A football before Taggart arrived...back to back 7 win seasons is nothing to laugh at. Skip couldn't do that with better talent.
  6. I respect that...I wouldn't want a coach that bailed on his team before a bowl game.
  7. Surprised we are not hearing much about James Coley...the guy has been around winning programs at the highest level and knows how to recruit. He won a state 6A title as a high school coach, worked for a year with the Miami Dolphins, was a graduate Assistant at LSU when they won the National Championship, and is ACC recruiter of the year last year and a darn good offensive coordinator. He also has ties to the Miami area which couldn't hurt recruiting. He might also be able to bring some of that FSU talent with him...
  8. Hazell (Kent State) will be the next coach at Purdue per ESPN.
  9. USF basketball was considered the hardest job in America and we still found a pretty good coach to come in and be successful. We will be fine...
  10. Went to South Carolina for grad school...was still passionate about the Bulls and went to a couple of Cocks games, but found it hard to get into them like I did for USF. It is like the difference between a mother and a step-mom. Sure, you can learn to love your step-mom, but it will never be the same as your real mother. Choose a school because of the academic quality of the program you want to go into and the location it is in (are there things to do, weather, food, jobs available, etc.).
  11. He is a great recruiting coordinator and a darn good offensive coordinator...from Miami and knows how to recruit the state. If he is ready to man his own ship, I think he would be a leading candidate!
  12. Only catch with Taggart is that he is a WKU alum and bleeds Red and Silver...may not be able to pull him away from his alma matter.
  13. Taggert only gets 475,000 base salary now at WKU and has taken them to back to back bowl games...we could get him for 700,000 k for sure...youngest coach in D1 football and has some charisma and Florida ties to land some recruits.
  14. Boise will suck with Peterson gone...we will be stuck with a crappy team from Idaho lol
  15. I don't know what would be better for the program, getting a good quarterback (I have always said USF was just a quarterback away from something special) and keeping a bad coach or losing a good quarterback recruit and getting rid of a bad coach for an unknown. I think we all agree that Floyd cannot be our starter next year. Bobby is not much better. Rock and a hard place here for us.
  16. That would take balls, something I am not sure Holtz has.
  17. I am still pulling for the addition of a good b-ball program in a large market to make up for losing the 'ville...ahem VCU and Shaka Smart would be perfect. What do we have to lose by including another roundball only member that is perenially good?
  18. I saw an article in a South Carolina paper today that talked about the University of South Carolina's team motto "Win Anyways". Spurrier said he came up with it because during the course of a season every team has key injuries, suspensions, hard times etc., but he says excuses are for losers and he doesn't allow them into his locker room. He goes on to explain how winning is a mentality that starts from the top down with the coaches and team captains...the whole time I was reading it I couldn't help but wonder: what is our team's motto and what kind of mentality have we been using?
  19. USF athletics and all of it's fans have taken another shot to the nads. I am laughing because it is the only thing left to do...historic rise, historic fall.
  20. I know many top recruits want to play in the best conferences due to the tv and media exposure. The NBE has some interesting destinations however and if we start winning could have a yearly open door to a top bowl. How will this affect recruiting going forward? Do we pull in top talent in the state away from FSU Miami and UF? The last part was a joke BTW.
