  2. I could care less how it helped their record, a nice stadium is not going win games. It's all about the atmosphere it creates; don't tell me you didn't look at those pictures and picture a sea of green and gold. I think an OCS would help attendance for sure, it's just going to take time.

$329,000,000 is what that stadium cost (wikipedia). Let's assume USF fronts 5% of that: $16,450,000. Is there no other priority in athletics where that money could be spent?

Note: that is a serious question. I really have no idea if there are projects on their to-do list.

  3. and being on campus somehow makes it magical? We have all those things (when people show up) and have all those advantages without needing to be off of Fowler Ave.

weak argument for an OCS-- most who want it just believe in a traditional campus. I'd rather we spend our money on other things we need than something that gets used --- AND I SAY THIS ONCE AGAIN--- SIX OR SEVEN TIMES A YEAR.

    Agreed.

There is no connection between winning and having an OCS. I don't think we somehow start winning a higher percent of games as a result of having an OCS. Would it be more fun? I don't think you would get much disagreement about that, but that doesn't translate into wins.

  4. really tired of the way our society has taken this ass backward "guilty until proven innocent" mentality.

an ARREST is not conviction. a CHARGE is not a CONVICTION.

until or unless someone is found GUILTY or pleads guilty/no contest a charge is nothing more than an accusation.

the purpose of a trial is to determine the validity of evidence BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT (in a criminal case, the standards are different in civil suits).

if the trial hasn't happened yet, which in this case IT HASN'T, Chris MUST be considered innocent.

sickening. nowadays people lose their jobs, their careers, their scholarships, their educations, their spot on a team, their reputation before a trial date is even scheduled. an arrest is enough to screw somebody for life, even if charges are dropped. charges can screw somebody for life, even if they are found not guilty in a trial.

God forbid anything ever happen to some of u. you'll be BEGGING for the same benefit of the doubt GUARANTEED BY LAW that u are so eager to toss aside for everybody else.

I think you misunderstand the applications of innocent until proven guilty and benefit of the doubt. These are constructs applied to a court room and someones legal standing as a free citizen. They are not constructs applied to someone's character, privilege of employment, privilege of admission to a university, or privilege of participating in an athletic program. There has been substantial questions raised regarding Dunkley's character. He is innocent until proven guilty, for sure, but he can be innocent and not on the USF Football team.

Our coaching staff made the right call. If something dramatic comes up, like this was all an elaborate setup, he'll be welcomed back. Otherwise this was a huge mistake, he deserves a few years to think about it, and hopefully when he gets out he can move on, at another academic institution!

Exactly. Spot on. Innocent until proven guilty is a legal matter within the legal framework.

  5. I just watched the ESPN 30 for 30. I was more amazed at the history and competitiveness of the Southwest conference than the scandal. What can we expect from this fan base as it enters the Big East? A rejuvenated base that pumps money (legally and ethically) into the program/university or will we see about the same amount of enthusiasm from their current CUSA days?

Anyone live in Dallas? What's the feel like or is it Cowboys 24/7?

  6. My thoughts and prayers are with the woman he attacked. If there is any validity to the initial police report, he has no business as a student at USF much less a scholarshipped athlete. Bravo to athletics for acting quickly.

Interesting... Has USF ever kick out a student due to allegations or convictions?
