  1. I was at Hooters. Stayed about an hour. They didn't really do much.
  2. Carrollwood 14457 N Dale Mabry Hwy Tampa, FL 33618 813-374-0123 Between Fletcher and Bearss
  3. Haven't looked at the rosters yet but I'll be heading to Hooters to support the White team (sounds odd).
  4. The only reason I brought it up is, if you're going to release a long description of the event, wouldn't it have made sense to include the details of the season ticket holder event? Or at least a, "renew your tickets by Friday for an invitation to the renewal party". It's not a huge deal by any means, was just a simple question.
  5. Not sure why the details aren't out on this yet. Nobody seems to know anything about it.
  6. Has anyone received details about the party that's supposed to happen at the spring game next Saturday?
  7. I'm sure baseball has the potential to make a little bit of money. 31 home games. Capacity of 3,211. Say over the next few years we pick it up *hopefully* and our attendance bumps to an average of 2,000 paid. $7 a ticket * 2,000 * 31 home games = $434,000
  8. Anyone know the status of the Andros housing project? I've been hearing for years they're going to be demolished. We need to get more beds on campus, really create a residential atmosphere. UCF is building and building and building and all we have lately are two ugly little 'towers'.
  9. I passed by the campus yesterday on I4. Wow. All that land in Polk county and they build it right next to a highway? Also, it was at the Auburndale exit. I thought it was actually in Lakeland.
  10. I like this idea. Then have a big welcome party on the field there at the stadium. Food trucks, local vendors, Busch Gardens animals, local bands
  11. I went to this site but do not see a penthouse option Not sure if the link will work but this is what we got. The rate more than doubled since we booked. http://www.hotels.com/hotel/details.html?tab=description&hotelId=108588&arrivalDate=09-06-13&departureDate=09-08-13&rooms[0].numberOfAdults=6&validate=false&previousDateful=false&reviewOrder=date_newest_first
  12. It's about time UConn scheduled someone. Along with Rutgers they always seem to have a terrible OOC.
  13. Dear Knights Fans: The past few weeks have seen a great deal of activity pertaining to UCF’s new conference. I know many of you follow media reports about the Knights, but I wanted to reach out to you directly to make sure you have as much information as possible and to give you some insight into my thoughts on what’s happening in our new league. Among the most recent news are the official announcements of television deals with ESPN and CBS. While the revenue from these deals isn’t what we all thought it might be months ago, the opportunity for exposure on the ESPN family of networks and the CBS broadcast network is very important to UCF and the conference. It is vitally important to continue increasing nationwide recognition for the UCF brand and we believe our new television contracts will help us do that. Being affiliated with ESPN and CBS will also allow sports fans from all over the country to quickly get acquainted with our new conference name and brand. With nearly 90 percent of the conference’s football games and nearly two-thirds of the men’s basketball games being aired nationally, either over the air or on cable, we’re very pleased with the potential for exposure. In fact, we already know that three of our 2013 football games will air on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2 next season and I believe it is reasonable to expect more 2013 games to be picked up. In fact, the three that have been announced already represent more exposure for the Knights on the ESPN family of networks than the previous two regular seasons combined. Speaking of the football schedule, we are very excited about the upcoming season. Our home schedule is one of the most attractive we’ve ever had here at UCF. Welcoming nationally-ranked South Carolina, Connecticut, Rutgers, Houston and Akron to Bright House Networks Stadium will make the 2013 season a lot of fun. And last, but not least, there is that Black Friday date with our rivals from Tampa right here in our home stadium. I encourage you to purchase your tickets now to experience what is shaping up to be an amazing season. Of course, we would love to see you at our road games as well. That portion of the schedule will also be appealing. Facing Penn State at Beaver Stadium and a nationally-televised game at Louisville are highlights. Of course, we also expect to see a bunch of Knights fans make the short trek down the Turnpike to join our alumni and fans from south Florida for an in-state rivalry game at FIU. As I mentioned earlier, the conference will have a new name and a new brand in the near future. Commissioner Mike Aresco told a media teleconference recently that the new name and brand would likely be unveiled in April, or early May, at the latest. There has been speculation and rumor about potential names. However, I can assure you we are engaging in a thorough, thoughtful process – including enlisting the expertise of branding experts – when it comes to this important decision for the league. I’m looking forward to having a new name and brand that we can start building upon soon. Obviously, the need for a new name for our league arose from the split of the seven non-football-playing, Catholic universities that had been members of the BIG EAST. That group will move forward with the BIG EAST name and begin play as a conference this fall. It is noteworthy that throughout the negotiations of that split, the best interests of each institution and their respective student-athletes were top of mind for all of us involved in the process. That it happened as expeditiously and amicably as it did says a great deal about the people and the institutions involved. We certainly wish that group the best. Meanwhile, we’re moving forward with a core group of schools that are very similar in many ways. While talking about the split of these two groups, I feel it is important to mention the discussions about handling of the financial aspects of the new conference. There have been various reports about dollar amounts and percentages. There have also been reports of some conflict regarding these financial decisions. None of those reports are accurate, as we have only recently begun to look at these matters. There are various streams of revenue from items such as conference exit fees, entry fees and NCAA Tournament shares that will be distributed among the membership. In addition to the distribution of these funds, there are timing issues with that will need to be worked out, as well. I am pleased to be part of a six-member panel – along with my counterparts from USF, Cincinnati, Connecticut, SMU and Memphis – who will be working through this process and ultimately making recommendations to the presidents of our conference. I can tell you that there is a strong desire on everyone’s part to be fair and equitable in this exercise. I believe everyone in our conference understands that we’re all in this together. Each of our schools will have great opportunities to elevate their programs and finances can certainly play a part in that. At the end of the day, the success of our conference is going to be determined by how competitive we are as a whole. As always, thank you very much for your support of our programs. Loyal Knights fans like you are vitally important to the success of our teams. Beginning this fall, we will be introducing ourselves to many new markets. We want to make a great first impression. When ESPN or CBS show up at our venues, it is very important that Knight Nation shows up in full force as well. I look forward to joining you and cheering on the Knights throughout the rest of the spring, while we also look forward to the beginning of an exciting new chapter in 2013-14. Charge On, Todd Stansbury UCF Vice President & Director of Athletics
  14. Here are some suggestions I got from MSU fans: ***Red Haven is a great tapas restaurant not too far from where you are staying. Not walkable but close. For a taste of East Lansing's bar scene, Crunchy's is a landmark institution. Great beer selection. ***Another bar selection that is downtown directly across from campus is Peanut Barrel. ***There is an awesome (if a bit expensive/pretentious) restaurant that will be just around the corner from your hotel. It's called Red Haven; corner of Hagadorn & Mt Hope. As for bars, there aren't any that I would say are "can't miss," everything in EL is pretty much the same; dive-y and small. Although by that time the new Hopcat (a 100 tap craft beer bar) will be open, and I'm told it will be a game changer. In fact the rest of the bars in the area might have already boarded up their windows and thrown in the towel by then. As for something to do, there is a really cool but little known RE Olds (the guy who started Oldsmobile) Museum towards Lansing's downtown. If any of your group are car guys they will enjoy the hell out of it. The museum is also shares a parking lot with the world renowned Lansing Ballet. ***I second Peanut Barrel. Try sitting on the patio. Not a better outdoor dining experience in East Lansing. Also, on gameday you can drink anywhere on campus so walk around sipping beer on the north side...one of my favorite fall traditions. ***For local dives, Crunchy's and Peanut Barrel are definitely the top choices. ***Go bar hopping downtown. End up at Rick's late night for sloppy drunkiness...if you like that sort of thing. Or go to the Landshark. I'm sure Jerry and the Juveniles and the Jr. Juveniles will be rocking out. ***Just take a cab to the corner of MAC and Albert. Within a 5-10 block radius there are several college bar options. Rick's, Landshark, PT Omalley's, Harpers, The Riv, Peanut Barrel, Crunchy's, Dublin Square. If there aren't any lines just bounce around. None of them are 'must see' but they get different crowds. My favorite is the Peanut Barrel. It's low key and unimpressive. Good sandwiches, a few decent beer options, dart boards, etc. Typically an older crowd. If you're looking to experience E.L. in it's full dirty drunken collegeness then make sure to hit up the other bars mentioned above........ Enjoy your trip. ***If you can find a parking spot on game day to get to the downtown EL area, everything is walkable. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to get within walking distance - Peanut Barrel, the new HopCat, the Riv, BW3, Landshark, PT's, Beggar's Banquet, and others are all within a short walk to each other. Crunchy's is a little further and would be a few minutes of a walk to the rest of them. As for food - Peanut Barrel for burgers, Crunchy's for Pizza (and a lot of good beer), BW's is BW's, and the others all have some form of bar food that likely won't make you ill and will absorb the beer.
  15. We got a Penthouse at the Gatehouse Suites...sleeps 6 and came out to $55 a person. One mile walk to their bar area, and a 1.4 mile walk to the stadium. Good location if you're looking for something (the team hotel is sold out already).
  16. Good for them. They're a tiny school in the middle of nowhere enjoying the spotlight. I don't feel threatened.
  17. what package are you referring to? http://www.bullssportstravel.com/football/usf-at-michigan-state.php
  18. Stayed for a little bit. Coaches definitely have some energy. Nice little tease heading in to the spring game.
  19. My brother and I both have one. Definitely worth the $25/$30 whatever it is. It's nice living in Tampa again and seeing the USF plates all the time. Didn't see them often when I lived in Miami.
  20. I was there in 2007. What an awful, cold, wet game.
  21. Not a fan of this. I know it's just a ticket, but I like the same format, use of senior players, ect. How about a 'design the schedule poster'..... http://www.gousfbulls.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=7700&ATCLID=206856366
  22. We have 6 people booked for the trip up on that Southwest flight. Starting to look for hotels/things to do. Suggestions?
  23. That's pretty gross. Never had food at J/P, but the food at Argos and Andros was always decent. Always a variety and the salad/sandwich stations were good. Uncooked chicken shouldn't happen though. There are some pissed off students on that thread.
  24. I think it's time someone over at the Alumni Association revamped their website. I wasn't sure when it was time to renew my membership, and I eventually found the user profile page. There's nothing under membership history. Nothing under donation history. When I hit 'renew', it brings me to a page that looks like it was thrown together quickly for new membership only. Step it up.
  25. Right now the flights to GRR are $280 from Tampa, leaving Friday returning Sunday. We booked one way via Southwest Friday morning for $89. There's a nonstop return Sunday at $89 (at 7am) and another at 9:50 with a long layover in Baltimore. We ended up booking a noon flight back via Delta at $134 with a brief layover in Atlanta, getting back to Tampa at 4:30. Got several friends to book the same flight, and a few hours later, that $134 flight is now $206. Way to go Bulls fans.
