IF PONTON IS ON TEAM AND SERVED PUNISHMENT IT MAKES NO SENSE NOT TO START HIM WHAT STATEMEWNT ARE YOU MAKING"WE ARE NOT GOING TO PLAY OUR BEST PLAYERS ON TEAM" IF YOU ALLOW PONTON TO REMAIN ON TEAM YOU BETTER PLAY HIM WILLIAMS WILL GAIN NO YARDS AGAINST PIUTT,UL AND WV. Ya know, sometimes you need to step back and look at the bigger picture. From a team and motivational standpoint, you make a big statement by giving the start to Williams. I think the statement is clearly that if you bust your ass for this team and you produce you have the opportunity to start. That doesn't mean that Williams will be the featured back. It doesn't mean he will even be in there after the first series. It doesn't mean that he'll even touch the ball again his entire career here. It means that he'll be on the field for the first few snaps. It shows the other guys on the team that are in similar situations that they may be called upon to play and they may have the opportunity to earn a starting position too. By the way, if you only look at the yards Williams had in the first 5 games, it's pretty clear that you do not understand football. Williams was not the best rusher available to the team. However, the reason he was playing over Dorsey was that he understands the playbook better and did not miss any blocks. He may not have been as physical as Dorsey, but he did not miss any key blocks. Dorsey missed two key blocks at crucial times against KU that stalled drives. There is more to the RB position in this offense than just taking a handoff and running. Nobody has any grand illusions that Williams is going to be the featured back over Ponton, but his overall perfromance deserves the recognition of the start. Very heartwarming story. Now back to reality. Williams has already been awarded six starts for his hard work. Go Team Go. This isn't kindergarten. Ponton needs to get in shape quickly if he's going to help against Pitt, Cincy, WV and UofL. Let's not beat around the bush, and instead get Ricky the work he needs.
