  1. For those confused souls out there (like me), our Bulls have won 74-72.
  2. Um, signing day isn't until February. Miami will have their coach within a couple of weeks. I don't really see how this is going to scare anyone off.
  3. I also went up from a C to a B. Not quite great yet, but if we win a bowl game I might go with great.
  4. Our OC spot doesn't pay nearly enough money to afford Larry Coker.
  5. Sheriff, I have some valuable swampland you may be interested in.
  6. I gave them a B. You'd have to be drinking to Kool-Aid to expect more than seven wins of the team this year. Next year is a different story...
  7. What is it with the people on this board that think you can take a team from DII to National Championship overnight? Get a grip. The USF program has done phenomenally well. And these are the same people that bash smazza for being negative. I don't get it.
  8. Show me one 10 year old program in history that has done as well as USF has.
  9. The upper classmen that have been transferring or leaving are largely players that wouldn't have gotten offers from the likes of Louisville or WVU because they were higher risk guys. Each year the quality of student-athletes we recruit goes up. More and more will stick around longer. This is a process, a long one, and you can't shortcut it. We've done amazingly well. Next year we'll have almost the entire team back, and we have UL and WVU at home. If the players develop and we get a couple of recruits that can step in right away, we could be looking at 8 or 9 wins and maybe breaking into the rankings.
  10. Why was it perceived there was a lack of effort? The only lack of effort I saw was possibly by the receivers, who alligator-armed several reception attempts. Ponton and Grothe did everything possible. The defense played great very well, especially early on. The problem was a failure of the offense to cash in on the plentiful early opportunities. That falls on the offensive line and the receivers. Much of damage was done through LT, where the missing Thed Watson was clearly evident. No lack of effort there, just lack of talent and/or experience. As far as the coaches, the game plan was there. Unless you wanted Jim Leavitt to play LT, you can't run any offense if you can't block anyone. Now, if you want to talk about WRs, then I'll agree. I don't know if it reflects on Lawrence Dawsey, but that was a terrible performance. To they extent that if they even made half the plays they could have, we probably score in the 20s, I agree that was disappointing.
  11. The effort was there. We got beaten by a better, stronger, more experienced team. Had when been able to score early, we probably would have made a game of it. Once they got up, we had to start taking more chances and the game got a lot more difficult. Look at it this way, we beat them at our place worse than they beat us at their place.
  12. Why is being truthful considered negative? Negative is saying that Jim Leavitt will never be a good coach. Pointing out that Rutgers isn't a Top 10 team yet is reality. Sheesh.
  13. The moral to this lesson is be patient. The team should do better next year, and much better two years from now when we should be a senior heavy team.
  14. Oh, and Teel didn't play very well on the road at RayJay, Ray Rice saved them in that game.
  15. i dont think that's a good excuse. pat white and steve slaton are only sophomores, they won the big east and the sugar bowl last year. mike teel and ray rice are sophomores too, they seem to be doing alright, despite about to lose tonight. this lack of preparation has been a trademark with our program for a while. i dont think we can every consider ourselves to be true players in the college football landscape unless we get that big win on the road, and i dont think we've had that yet. sure, that win vs. pitt w/blackwell was a statement game, but we gotta get wins like that every year, and we havent been able to. it's got me a little worried. Mike Teel is a Junior. Rutgers starts four Seniors on the OL, and 13 Seniors overall. They start zero Freshmen, and only start five Sophmores. Only three Freshmen on the Two-Deep. West Virginia is younger, but still starts nine Seniors and only two Freshmen. Your South Florida Bulls start only five Seniors, only two on offense none on the OLine or DLine. Only two more Seniors in the entire two deep. A whole bunch of Sophmores and several Freshmen in the two deep. The Bulls are much younger than the teams you are comparing them against. By the way, I thought Grothe played very well. His OLine didn't give him enough time, and there were a many big drops by the WRs, especially early in the game when the Bulls had the opportunity to jump out to the early lead. Some Freshmen play well on the road, but most Freshmen and Sophs are going to struggle on the road.
  16. Ever go on a business trip? At home, you sleep in your own bed in familiar surroundings. You are in a familiar stadium, and the routine is under your control. On the road, you have to deal with a few hours of a flight. Potentially you are sleeping in a hotel room in a city you rarely or have never visited. The stadium is new to you, as are the locker rooms. And the crowd is against you. USF is a young team. Many of these players have never visited Louisville. Over the next year or two, the team should start doing much better on the road. Well, that, and we need to find receivers that want to catch the ball.
  17. Cool! I sent them a message about it a week or so ago.
  18. Only if they let him roam the court during opponent shootarounds...
  19. I believe DaBull was being sarcastic here, implying that UConn and USF were better than Vandy and Miss State.
