  1. Considering USF is splashing this all over social media, it cannot be an accident.
  2. There will always be conference realignment every few years. Just look back at the last 100 years of college football.
  3. Yep, I addressed this more fully in another reply. Renovation discussions several years earlier prompted UCF to run off and build a stadium with aluminum foil.
  4. Not strictly true. When the subject of renovations came up, UCF tried to squeeze the city for a bigger slice of revenue for UCF games as well as UCF specific improvements and the city said no. So UCF dreamed up a crazy financial scheme and nearly went bankrupt building their own cheapo stadium.
  5. Everyone is giving Kelly a hard time. But the IPF was talked about forever, and he made it happen during a pandemic. That was always going to come before an OCS. I really don't get the this.
  6. If you think those were off the cuff comments, you have no idea how corporate America works. Will Weatherford is an experienced politician and businessman. There is no way those were off the cuff comments. He stated later that more info will be coming, meaning someone is working hard on this.
  7. Good luck with that quest. The Foundation does all the work. They invite a USF admin over for dinner and say "hey, you might want to see this." There aren't meetings on record in the USF administration offices, if they have half a brain.
  8. Ultimately, they care more about money and university prestige than actual on field accomplishments. Part of the big lure of the B12 for Texas was being able to have their own Longhorn network. That network pretty much fizzed out. So they can go to the SEC and get more money than their combined revenue streams now.
  9. Sure, but those conversations would have to be documented. If there aren't emails or documents with USF admin in an official capacity, you aren't getting them.
  10. Keep in mind the B12 was being governed by Texas, and to a less extent Oklahoma. Texas always wanted to keep the B12 small so they could get more dollars. The others were afraid to buck Texas, who was the cash cow. Now that the cash cows are gone, B12 needs to look at other ways to increase value.
  11. Is the USF Foundation subject to the Sunshine law?
  12. You use the word "still", did we ever wish to compete at the highest level or did it just kind of happen by accident before?
  13. Did you never watch the defense last year? How many times did we get into the backfield all season? We were in tha backfield several times against a team that dominates ACC teams in the ground. You can't already see our secondary is better? Obviously there is a very long way to go and nothing is guaranteed. But there is clearly a talent level this year that wasn't here a year ago.
  14. Not that fluid, not with QBs, not if you want the trust of your team. Not after you plastered their face all over and subjected him to countless interviews. Really looks like you just didn't want to put the freshman under the microscope, so you sacrificed the well spoken Fortin to protect another player. Then you crapped all over Fortin. Not a good look.
  15. And wasn't McClain technically #3? How do you think Marsh felt this morning? He really didn't believe Marsh was the #2, yet my understanding is that is where they put him on the depth chart. Just unproductive.
  16. He had three or four incomplete passes. Against a very good team, with a whole bunch of teammates around him. That is not "that bad". That is needing some time to settle into the game. If you get into the 3rd quarter and he is still that bad, then maybe. But to pull him that soon means he never really believed Fortin was the #1. That is fine, but don't parade him around for a week before the game as the unquestioned #1.
  17. I think Fortin is a lot better than he showed, and the fact that we seemingly couldn't gain a yard rushing didn't help. And I get that McClain is the future. But I don't understand why you pull Fortin so early, after spending so much time talking about how he is the guy that clearly separated himself to the be the #1. If you had said we were going into the game and two QBs would see action, no problem. Or if you said the #1 would be decided later. But to put all of that on Fortin and then yank him so early to me does a disservice to your entire team. Clearly the coaching staff thinks a lot of McClain. If that is the case, either start him from day one and let him take his lumps, or at least say that he is going to play early and often. Don't let the entire team think Fortin is the guy, and then bench him in a state of panic after a couple of series. That isn't how you methodically build the players trust in you as a coach.
  18. Flowers could not throw a pass until his Jr year, and even then it was iffy.
  19. Jitters, not just him but the whole offense. A lot of new faces. In reality this is year one of the Jeff Scott era. Turned over 40 players which is unprecedented in college football, at least in modern times. Not going to get that straight in game one.
  20. Timmy McClain. Honestly, he looked about 1000 times better than QF ever did his entire Freshman season. Really, he looked a lot better than QF's sophomore season.
