  1. OK, I have become an internal optimist when it comes to usf basketball like I do every year.  Earlier this year I was saying USF can make the big east tournament.  The problem there is a lot more parody in the Big east this year than years past.  4 conference wins may not get you in.  Cincy beating WVU the other night did not help our cause. St johns beating Syracuse and now Notre Dame tonight is not helping our cause.  Seton Hall and Depaul with 3 conference wins already, its not looking good. UCONN only has 2 conference wins but we can bet they will make the tournament being so young and only getting better.  If we beat Rutgers we are not even close to being guaranteed or even looking favorable to make the conference tournament, but if we lose to them we are most definitely out.  It is a huge game for us.  Everyone should go and support the team.  WE NEED THIS WIN. Honest opinion, Will we make the Big East tournament this year?  I starting to believe we will not. ÂÂ
  2. it might just be a doomed program.  Seth has now had VTech and Long Beach State ranked and never usf.  Its absurd how bad of a basketball program we have.  i nominate this as the most depressing thread ever. ÂÂ
  3. usf wanted cinncy to lose only 12 teams make BE tourney the lack of sophistication by bull fans happy about cinny's win is laughable So true.....in the battle of the basement, you want the fellow basement teams to lose every game. but hey positives for usf basketball is a huge reach. You are now rooting for mac over usf basketball. good job guys. Lets go cincy win 3 conference games this year so we definitely dont make the BE tourney. Wow! thank you smazza it really is laughable.
  4. I was thinking about something when i was watching these games tonight and seeing dicky vitale.  The guy is like a walking advertisement of the west coast of florida and tampa, always shouting out where he lives, he talks usf football and even supports the devil rays. He is dying for usf basketball to turn into a contender, and it wouldnt  hurt to have the best public relations guy in college hoops talk about us in a postitive light every so often.  But it has to be hard to talk about us in the state we are in, so can we really blame him? ANY TYPE of light at the end of the tunnel will make him jump right on the bandwagon. ÂÂ
  5. positive:  1) Gransberry played well.  The fans were yelling LSU at him.  Pretty much getting into his head saying he shouldnt even be on this team.  Pretty knowledgeabe fans, I wonder how many usf students would know he transfered from LSU?  The whole student section for notre dame did. 2) at least we played toe to toe with them in the first 10 or so minutes.  negatives:  our bench scored 2 points......AGAIN!!! According to board members we have 13 scholarships, 5 go to starters.  So 8 scholarships will get you 18 bench points in 6 big east games under the mac regime.  Im not a math major but that is an average of THREE bench points a game.  How many years will it take for Mac to at least assemble a team that can just simply COMPETE?????  mind boggling. ÂÂ
  6. Its not about giving a crap about usc. Its a sports forum. You may not like the yankess but if people talk the mlb they will talk the yankees. Winning teams get talked about by fans and non-fans. usc is on the verge of being a basketball powerhouse. enjoy it.
  7. Is tim floyd going to build a dominant program? Pac 10 basketball looking very solid this year.  usc, washington st, oregon, ucla, arizona, stanford all playing well.  usc 14-5 just beat #12 arizona.  wait until oj mayo comes in next year.  smazza hope you have season tix. ÂÂ
  8. The voice of reality. Who can argue with that? Winning in the big east! Playing UCONN on Big Monday at 7pm on espn in front of a packed house. Taking a trip to new york city and watching the big east tournament. there are like 8 straight hours of basketball 3 days in a row in the most electrifying arena in the world. Everyone in the northeast is watching. Lots of folks live up thur. Maybe we can get some recruits to come here. Oh what it is like o win in the big east THE BASKETBALL conference. Only if you guys knew.
  9. I wouldnt say it was highly unlikely we dont make the BE tourney, but we probably wont.  I thinks its almost certain we dont make the NIT, conference tournament or not. seton hall, st johns, cincy, rutgers and usf.  The battle of the week.  which one team will make it?  Odds are with seton hall but an up and coming usf bulls team who has already matched its last years conference win total is on the rise. I say we can make it, but im usually wrong when it comes to predicting wins for usf basketball. ÂÂ
  10. How long is it going to take for us to learn how to crawl, so we can then walk and then run? With this coach its not going to happen int eh big east. He now has talent and he cant coach. Last year he had no talent (his fault) so we gave him another chance. Whats the excuse this year? Are we still gelling into a team? HAHA Velcro have you ever picked up a basketball and played the game? im going to guess no. it is not hard to watch and see we are late off picks, we dont deny the ball on D, we sit back and let them pop 3's. We run a piss poor offense. Howard has good control but everyone else just stands around. Gransberry is great down low when we can get the ball to him without turning it over, but we all know we have problems there. This ALL falls on coaching. EVERY YEAR I GO AGAINST MY GUT AND SAY WE WILL WIN SOME GAMES AND MAKE THE CONFERENCE TOURNEY, ONLY TO BE DISAPPOINTED. Ari i take back my prediction for us to make the BE tourney. We are better than Cincy, St johns and maybe Rutgers. But seton hall is going to crush us. But hey if we finish the best team that didnt make the be tourney this year, i guess its an improvement....ugghhh.
  11. As a former basketball player, the hoop looks like the ocean when you are wide open. Where is the perimeter D?
  12. I dunno about that... there is a school up north that is very interested in him and it would not shock me if he's coaching there next year. Not because he hates USF, but they will be willing to pay him much more than he makes here. From a very close source to our team I have heard the same. I would be very surprised if he is back here next year.
  13. There is no doubt if we win in the Big east we would get a rank and then people will show up.  The problem is we are far from from winning in the big east.  We cant win a conference game ever 9-10 tries and expect people to care.  Mac needs to step up his X's and O's on defense.  I could drop 10 points vs USF if you give me wide open jumpers all day off picks.  Its been happening all year.  On offense, I dont even think we run one.  Its more like a clear out for someone to take his man one on one.  Not going to work.  The good: Verdajo played.  Maybe mac will realize he needs every body he can put on the floor.  We stuck around, thought we were going to lose by 30 at first.  Our bench doubled production in 1 game that it has in the 4 previous BE games.  The bad: Saaka's injury.  Any update?  Looked really bad when it happened but seemed to be ok sitting on the bench afterward. we are now 2-19 in the big east.  another year of creating no excitement for the fans to show up.  (the worst of all and it will continue until we bring in a new leader) Bring in Wojo. ÂÂ
  14. Is Bobby Gonzales going to pan out for you guys?  So far, no Luis Flores' going to seton hall.  Another story of a mid major coach hired to do a big boy job and not being able to get it done.  Sounds like a story I know too well. ÂÂ
  15. Joe, I would say you always want to get him to sign a ball. It should be an official league ball if you can get one before work. If its a baseball, use a blue ball point pen and have him sign it on the sweet spot. If its a basketball or football have him sign with a brand new black sharpie (no smudges). If he is a hall of famer you may want him to put on HOF and the year he went in. As for the card, it matters on how valuable the card is. nowadays cards are graded by condition, precision and by cut. Cards dont bring a lot of money unless you have a perfect card or your card has been graded. A signature can bring the value of a card down, depending on how rare it is or may become. n For instance, a mickey mantle 1967 card could use a signature to add value being that the card alone isnt too rare and it was the end of his career. But an earlier mantle card would find more value without a signature. Bottomlie have him sign an official ball of the sport he played. If you cant get a ball, i would say next would be an index card which you could mount into a frame with a pic or whatever. Then the card. Good luck but dont get too into this hobby. Shadiest and most craziest people in the memorabilia world, most of them are crooks. but it is cool stuff. Good luck
  16. Marcus Colston is great...but that does not take away what reggie has been doing on the field, and now in the playoffs. NO has 2 of the top 4 rookies this year. but whoever it is that had the best year i would take reggie over all of them
  17. Ive been saying this stat since I got back from the game, but im not velcro. Howard and Bozeman both started yesterday, so Solomon is not our backup. Tampajo i think it is more than 95% of our points coming from our starters. We have scored a total of 6 bench points in 4 big east games. Way to recruit a deep bench. Trip where are those 13 scholarships you are so arrogant o bring up and say dont let the facts get int he way. 13 scholarships and 6 bench points in 4 conference games. Thats a fact. USF now has a talented enough 5 to beat the bad teams and lose to the good ones. This is NOT good enough. But a lot of you guys like being mediocre. I do not. for the record - ive been saying all year I think we will make the big east tourney (im sure usf bball will **** on my parade again, they always do), there are a lot of bad teams in the big east and NO it is not enought for him to keep his job. look at the bottom of flsportsfans post. Thats plenty of reason for him to be fired last year. But hey lets keep giving him another year.
  18. Looks like Jesus will be coming off the bench and not Solomon. (feel like im quoting the bible) Howard started his 1st game along with Bozeman in the backcourt. i think Solomon has proved himself to be a starter. Jesus may have not started due to injury but when he plays again I think he should come off the bench. As for our bench today, we only played 2 bench players and they only scored 2 points. So that is a total of 6 points in 4 conference games. Too many walkons and players who wont ever see any time.
  19. He is going to be one of the best. He has barry sanders quickness. He cuts backwards and then takes off. fastest guy on the field Texan GM should be fired for taking williams over a lot of guys, mostly bush (the obvious #1 pick) and Vince Young (hometown kid) Mario Williams? Who is making the decisions over there?
  20. Thats what i was thinking. Herman - 7th grade jazz band award winner and 7th grade all county trumpet player.
  21. Well, I hope this is not an ominous sign considering Mac's track record. Also noticed in the box score 10 Assists and 8 points for Howard.  Nice game for him.  How did he look? Nice job by the UC president to run Huggins off and then let D'antonio get away.  Looks like the sports programs don't mean a lot to the school under her reign. Howard looked great. He started his first game and is a real floor leader. First kid off the bench to shale teammates hands always talking on the court. Some kids just have that extra court vision and bball knowledge and he is one of them. He had 10 assisits and Bozeman had i think 7 they were both distributing the ball well (good sign). Gransberry played like a beast. Mattis jumped out of the gym all night and Melvin "I've never seen a shot i didnt like" Buckley got his. Our starting five isnt bad. i dont know if they can compete with the better teams in the BE but we should be beating Cincy, st johns, shu and rutgers. i told ari at the game we will make the BE tourney he told me not to get my hopes up. As for Jesus, i dont know why he didnt play but he had some sort of brace on his hand. I was guessing he was hurt. Anyone know? I bet huggins is laughing his ass off at cincy right now. They are terrible.
  22. 2PM Thanks, i will be there. Chicago vs seahawks is just the match to see who will lose to NO next week. No reason to watch that game. big game for usf, everyone should attend. plus everyone can be back to watch new england/SD in the afternoon. Works out perfectly.
