You could fill a complete season with historical black college teams. We only had a few on our schedule. That was an ignorant but expected observation from you. Our ooc sched was not that much different than a lot of other major college programs ... too bad you aren't more familiar with that. Consumed? Sorry, but I don't want this for my school: Are we to assume Snyder AND staff or take it how it's written? I find it hard to believe that any of that sruff would be done without the permission of the hc .... at the very least, he would have been aware of it.

CUSA wasn't considered a Mid-Major pre shake-up, was it? Maybe not a top 5 conference but certainly not a mid-major back then ...

It's not just the 5 times. It's that he did it in a major conference. I got the trips to the Tourney confused with that. Point was he can obviously recruit if you measure by those rankings. Quality wins, not just win. Seth won but couldn't get the signature wins to get the excitement rolling.

Agreed...There are other ways, but I'm not sure USF has the resources. The only other way, for THIS area, is to pay people to come to the games ... and you're right, we don't have the resources for that either. Nobody cares about Mac anymore. There are two who like to still take shots wherever they can... but most have moved on.

Mike Hopkins from Syracuse. A true workhorse. He apparently coaches as hard as he played. He's great at developing guards - Jason Hart, Allen Griffin, Preston Shumpert, Josh Pace, Demetris Nichols, Gerry McNamara. Good recruiter. Realistic? Who knows. Looks as good as any of the others assts thrown out there. Lord knows, with our youth, the developing guards would be a huge asset. He never said that. He said he wants to be competitive night in and night out... Yes he did. He said he wanted to reach the people not coming to the games. I think that's going to be a very hard thing to do. You reach those people by winning against good teams on a consistent basis. BTW, Velcro's avatar is still in play. Mac haters ARE pathetic .... both of them.

This is what it comes down to.  Hire a no-name mid-major and you ask people to come to games instead of them coming on their own.  No one not attending a game right now is going to show up at the Dome to see yet another gamble taken with the HC position - or wait 2-3 years for that long missing .500 record.  You better land the big fish now, or you'll be the only guy on the pond. Who are the most recent 3 or 4 BE coaching hires? Are there any "names" in that group that would bring fans in HERE strictly on recognition power? If not, what makes you think we're in the position to do better than those more established programs? Hire a coach who you think can get the wins. The cupboard is not bare for next year, no matter how much some think the recruiting has been. Six rostered three star players is more talent, on paper, than has ever previously been here. Coach em up, get the wins and that, along with the BE schedule will get fans to the dome. I just don't believe there's any magic "name" available out there with drawing power on his own. You may be right about no big name out there right now but a couple and we would be hard pressed to foot the bill. Tough tough situation for USF. Lutz can do it all but I don't know about the druming up fans ?  He has the rest of the package. If he has the rest of the package and is affordable, he'd be near the top of my list... IF he's looking for a change. Winning will drum up the fans.

According to ari, he's had 5 top 20 recruiting classes. I don't think there's a name out there even remotely available that would bring in fans on name alone.
