  1. I'll agree that Ferlita should be more focused on the OBVIOUS home teams, and I'll also go so far as to say that City Council ought to have more important things to be worrying about than the subject of that newspaper article. P.S. People like RHONDA STORMS shouldn't exist anymore - her views are arcane and her political rhetoric exemplifies distaste and ignorance. While we can blast Ferlita concerning supporting USF, Storms should by far be more heavily assaulted. Please don't let that woman have a future in politics, especially in our home town. I wouldn't even wish her presence on a third world country....
  2. Riley Headed To USF Published: Jan 13, 2006 Former University of Florida defensive tackle Julian Riley will transfer to USF. Riley is in the process of attempting to be admitted into school and enroll in classes for the spring semester. A former Lakewood High star, Riley (6-3, 278) must sit out the 2006 season and will have a year of eligibility remaining at USF. Riley played sparingly at Florida and had no career tackles for the Gators. At Lakewood, he was a three-year starter and earned second-team all-state honors as a senior, when he had a school-record 17 sacks. Brett McMurphy http://bulls.tbo.com/bulls/MGBSRRK2EIE.html
  3. This is a load of crap. Who produces a story like this? I turned down UPenn, Brandeis, and Yale to attend USF. My little brother will probably turn down full rides he's already been offered to a host of schools including Ivy League schools, to go to USF. In addition, there is a large proportion of students both in and out of the Honors College who could have gone Ivy but chose not to. For some people, geography and finances have a lot more to do with it than the name of the school or the "academic rigor" (which is also a load of crap). If the media wants stories about people who turned down Ivy schools to go to state schools, they ought to have people stand in a line. This guy is nobody special.
  4. THE BULLDOZER 2 IS SO HAWT! I can't wait until I'm making money so I can sponsor graphics to be put on students' cars (aside from financing scholarships). I fully encourage anyone and everyone to get on the bandwagon once Brittany and FastSigns get their pricing down. The more USF fans across the state we get to do this, the more people will see our name and our spirit! I've had the graphics they put on my truck for three years now; definitely worth the few beans it took me to put them on there. Brittany's car is new so we didn't have enough time to order a bull horn for it, but I'm going to put the original pair of real horns on the front. I can't wait to see looks on N.C. State fans' faces when they realize that USF fans go all out to show more pride for a brand-new program than I expect to see from fans for their "established, big-name" program.
  5. Let me just take the time to say that The Reaper is my idol! He makes it out to SO MANY USF events, despite health troubles, obstacles, and scheduling conflicts. He actually keeps up with what goes on on campus, and it's only someone like him that would have had the heart to care about SG's role, SBC's role, and what the students are up to. Once people graduate and move on, they no longer pay attention to stuff like that, and The Reaper can be considered a great source of suggestions and a wealth of information. Keep it up MRebe, looking forward to seeing you again soon! ~ Faza
  6. Brittany is right. Very few schools entered in this competition last year, and it's restricted to public universities minus UF. On top of that, the only reason we got second place has to do with the fact that Jen Brack put together a professional application and Brittany Link (then in SG Marketing) put together one hell of a video presentation about our SG that no other SG could have included in their application package. Our SG is not top in the state. This year has been an improvement in the sense that the fort has been held down better than in the past. This does not mean we have been shining stars of innovation.
  7. Whoever you are, usfbullgirl30..... you rock my socks!
  8. In flsportsfan83's defense, I have a personal message from him dated in September where he asked me what SG could do to get more involved with Athletics, and he genuinely pursued my suggestions. He's on our side; don't attack him. Attack those in leadership positions, not the messengers who do care deeply.
  9. This is absolutely incorrect. Not only is there over $700,000 that is placed in an "UNALLOCATED reserve" ("just in case we need it") EVERY year, but there is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS money left over even in the conservative-minded budgets every year, particularly in unused employee hours. Student org. money is the only money that is used fully sometimes, and this is a MINUTE part of the entire budget. SG could have allocated a LOT more money had they WANTED to. It just depends on where the priorities lie of the people in office. $10,000? I applaud that. I happen to think it is WAY too conservative a figure. But in SG's defense, the Senate has a large financially right-wing composition of officers this year, and I'm glad that at least $10,000 was pushed through.
  10. I spoke with the owner of the Bull Ring when having lunch there a few days ago - I'm pretty sure he said they would be having a huge watch party for the bowl game. They're normally open that early anyways, from what I understand. Call for details on what the party entails. BUT, I do agree that The Clubhouse owners have been huge supporters and have hosted great Student Bulls Club parties the past few years. I would hit up The Clubhouse first, and only consider the Bull Ring if The Clubhouse is totally full.
  11. Well it did get cut off by an entire half hour by the basketball game. But AT LEAST they weren't slamming the Bulls, USF students, or our fans. They were fairly positive, particularly Al Keck. Thanks ABC!
  12. The Lakers/Heat game still has another half a quarter - looks like they'll be pushing USF back
  13. The TV Guide just has it listed as "Paid Programming" and "To Be Announced."
  14. WHY have we not been updated in this?? WHY would we PASS on a QB that has thrown over 6,000 yards and 67 TD's in TWO YEARS??!?!?!?!? WHY would we consider Lewis over Oliver? WHY has this been a dead story for two days??
  15. Ya'll need to quit calling him a 'kid.' He's no kid, anymore than you considered yourself a kid when you were a junior in college. Greg - you rock my socks man, thanks for caring about USF long before all the bandwagoners who heard "BCS" started to pay attention. I get up every morning and the first thing I do is check online to see if you've written any new articles on USF. Josh - please pardon my ignorance.... who are you?
  16. If only we had elected student leaders who had an on-campus bull-themed restaurant on their platform for two years in a row, instead of the guys who aren't interested. Sorry, could not resist. ;D
  17. That is the biggest load of crap I've ever seen. The entire bowl system is worthless. A commissioner should not be deciding who goes to bowl games. Bowl games should not be deciding who goes to bowl games. WIN/LOSS RECORDS AND RANKINGS should be deciding.
  18. Indentured Servant at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Good luck on the bar, whomever posted about graduating law school in a semester...... hope we can stay friends.... ;D
  19. Okay, you got me there. I should have read her actual post before spouting off. I can see where you got that. My apologies. I still don't feel that should qualify her to be profiled so immediately - our very own Student Body Vice President Sameer Ahmed and one of the cabinet members Kyle Myers stood in line to purchase large numbers of tickets in blocks last Monday morning. Yeah, Sameer drives a luxury SUV. But that doesn't mean they weren't buying for an entire organization and just agreed to stand in line - Sameer went to King High School with me, and logic might surmise that copious amounts of parental cash could have prevented that if desired. Both of them could have worked hard in college to have the extra dough to front the money, it's just not fair to judge someone like that so quickly. Conformity - to a slight degree, but only to nicer standards of dress. I very much appreciate your kind comments about my truck - it was actually meant to stick out because I had it done professionally, and I considered it both spirited and a good representation of the university. Not to judge - but I might not have done it to my vehicle if I had, say, a busted up decades-old Gremlin - I just wouldn't have drawn attention with USF logos to my vehicle unless it was done in a manner that I would want my university represented. I completely agree that the players' clothes represent who they are, and in everyday life every person has the right to wear whatever they feel comfortable wearing. All some folks on here were trying to say is that sometimes, a little professionalism goes a long way. I never bashed the players for their dress, and I don't think Brittany did either; we just offered a bit of constructive criticism for how to improve Athletics' image at USF in a small way. Okay. I understand that you could feel that some people automatically assume things about football players. I know I certainly don't, and I don't think Brittany has offered indication of such, which is why I so vehemently defended her before. I've been intellectually schooled by people of all races at times. If you think about it, I lost two elections to two people of Indian descent and one of African American descent. Those players wouldn't be in college (and some people DO get held back from sports teams) if they didn't have the brainpower to make the grades in college. I understand how you might sense that some people have that immediate, unfortunate assumption - as long as you know it's not Brittany or I. Forgive my ignorance - were you a former USF player? That's some deep down ish right there.... I respect your experience and your wisdom as a result. I really am sorry if I took it too far earlier. I tried to maintain respectfulness as you have so kindly done in this post - you just gotta understand that I'll be there to defend my girl. P.S. Ain't nobody in Florida going into OB/GYN right now... malpratice is so high that very few of them comparatively are even insured... I'd love to "keep the pipeline strong" but we're going to have to graduate some lawyers and start some ass kickin' in the FL legislature. I probably would have gone that route if I could have won an election, but I had to change that up after two heartbreakers. Someone will come along and do it.
  20. Thanks, boss I can't help but agree with you on the victory! ;D Name's Brandon, but most call me by my last name, Faza.
