1. Since last year we had 5200 and I still am lacking in faith for my BULLS followers I went with 6,000. I am hoping for 11,000+ but....
2. That is $300,000.00. That man makes just over $1,000,000.0. Would you be willing to spend 30% of your gross income on one football game? I don't think so! It really should not be that difficult for USF to sell 10,000 tickets, but it will be. I already got mine, so we will see what we look like this year. I am just hoping for more than the inaguaral USF bowl game :-[
3. Those programs that we are comparing ourselves to (UF, FSU) have many differences when it comes to USF: 1. They have been around forever (circ 1890s). 2. They have had a bunch of Alumni. 3. They have had a bunch of Alumni pass through while they had a football program. 4. They have had a bunch of Alumni pass through while they had a successful football program (1980s-1990s). 5. Those 1980s to 1990s Alumni are now getting paid (mid 30s to late 40s). 6. Alumni registration/donations are off the charts. We have a long way to go. Like a wise person once said, "Patience is a virtue."
4. I'll be in Birmingham along with the beautiful one I call my girlfriend :
5. They are definitely beatable. I am not worried about the Ville. WVU, that is a different story! Is the game on Brighthouse this weekend?
6. I still don't understand a "trick" play when with conventional plays we are moving the ball all over the field against Pitts D. I ive the play calling a B-. Best grade of this year!
7. Are you serious?? Just like JL started Pat the 1st game of the yr because he is a senior. Who the heck cares, since when do you get start on a football team because its your 4th yr in school, mind as well start every senior then regardless of 1st team, 2nd team, or scout team. That's what they do at the college and HS level.  They play all the seniors for at least the 1st play because it's the last game in front of the home crowd.  How many years have you watched football and not seen this before? you sir have no idea what you are talking about. Actually, all seniors start on SENIOR day. That is what they do. It is usually one play then the regulars get in. If you are a senior WALK ON you will get the start, unless a senior is the regular starter at your position!
8. That is exactly what I am saying, wait for the season to be over, then look back!
9. WVU. They give the conference the best shot at legitimacy (again)! And since we own UL. we can't root for them :-X
10. Texas has played exactly 1 good team and lost. Right now that weak Maryland team is 5-2 and still has a shot of winning there division in the ACC. That team got destroyed by WVU. Wait until the end of the season and then decide who has played whom and what kind of schedule. All BCS schools basically play 1 team that they think are good OOC! Wait until the end of the year to see who projected correctly.
11. Started watching Football in 1983, along with many other sports (thanks to my cousin) while living in NYC. My favorite teams back then were the 49ers and Notre Dame (now I just want those "Irish" to lose every game). Began recognizing the rules and strategy while dominating with the same 49ers circa 1989 (Jerry Rice was unstoppable). Was never allowed to play because my parents would not have it (I know I could have been a very good high school DB). Got my undergraduate education (mentally and football wise) at FAMU! Wow, what a great atmosphere. In 2001, I came to USF to get a graduate education and have been a supporter eve since. (Also became a season ticket holder this year). BTW, my football "knowledge" says to give Ricky the ball.
12. Not as good as Bill Gramatica. The kid has an NCAA record! How shameful for his professional career.
13. Also, in college you cannot have a coach just dedicated to special teams. I don't think that helps our current situation at all. I think this Benzer kid just has the yips. He can definitely kick it a long way.
14. Let us not forget that Cincy has the worst ome attendance in the Big East at less than 15K per home game. If Cincinnatti is bowl eligible, they are not necessarily a lock for a game.
15. Benzer was an all-state selection. He made 6? 50 yarders his Junior and Senior year.
16. Even if Ponton got worst between this year and last he is still better than Williams. He is quicker, faster, and has more pop. We saw that against Cinci. I think at times the coaches are too loyal. How could Pat Julmiste start ahead of Grothe? It has been obvious to me that Matt is better. As long as Matt quits fumbling and grows as a QB he could be an all time great.
17. Ponton averaged 5 ypc and had 383 yards as a freshmen BACKUP to Hall. He has the skills. Coaches need to just give hime the ball. What we really need is some help in the kicking game (hopefully the kids come around) and guys on the DL and OL that will not get blown off the ball. Yes, our defense is nice, but you can run on them all day (see UCF, Rutgers, Cincinatti). That is because running backs get 3 to 5 yards before being touched. Our OL does not create any holes. It is a miracle (our bad defenses) that running backs have had 100 yard games this year. On RB to back up Ricky next year would be nice! The list (OL, DL, Kickers that have grown up, 1 more scholarship RB).
18. Let’s not forget that the hidden gem is we lost this game because the coach has no faith in his kicking game. We were down 2-0 with the ball on the 15 and went for it on 4 and 1. Two plays later Grothe throws an INT. If Leavitt had faith in the kicking game he would have taken the points and gone up 3-2 (It was a 32 yarder for heavens sakes). Who knows what might have happened after that. Ponton also rushed 9 times for 38 yards. That is over 4 per touch. Coach needs to stop being so stubborn, take Ben out of there and give Ricky the ball. When he is in the game he is our best offensive weapon (better than Grothe, Randolph, or Johnson).
19. I will not asy that you were wrong, maybe misguided. Much like our BULLS, you/me/us were looking toward PITT and past Cinci. We all forgot how horrible a road team we are. We all forgot that our schedule has been softer than Charmin (same for PITT). We all forgot we had to actually play the game. Do I think we are better than Cinci, yes. Unfortunately, the rest of the people outside of Tampa now don't KNOW it.
20. It does not matter what offense you run. What matters is coaching, execution, and athletes. Now that we are playing teams with athletes of the same or higher caliber as ours, our team looks bad. That must mean the execution or coaching of USF is not on par with theirs. It could also mean that USF is a horrible road team. It could also mean that Kansas, Cincinatti, and Rutgers are just better than us. Relax. This team is still young, this program is still young. Once we know and understand what it means to be consistent and have a kicking game we could do damage. Unfortunately, that is probably two seasons away. GIVE THE BALL TO RICKY!!
21. You are right. U of M only has about 10,000 students and charge them only $30,000/yr. That is only $300,000,000. And of those 10,000 students only about 6,000 of them are at the game. If we all look at this logically, the only Hurrican who did anything wrong was the one swinging his helmet. An FIU player (who we don't know because they go to FIU) blew up the defenseless holder. Someone else knocked down that same FIU player. Then all hell broke loose. BTW, I would love USF to have 60% of the student body at football games.
22. Look it is a lock. Ponton will go for 100 yards (CJL loves to run the ball). GROTHE (always capitalize the last name of the man) will pass for a smooth 260 or so and have anothe 30-40 on the ground. B. Williams might even get to 40 yds.
23. Remember Taurus Johnson is one of the fastest Bulls, in the spring he ran the fastest forty time at 4.44 (although a few notable speedy Bulls didn't run the 40 like Jenkins, Hester, Gilliam, Jamaal Jenkins), and has run the forty in 4.39, and at a HS showcase camp he was rumored to have run a 4.31.  I think you can see, especially on those WR bubble screens that he has an innate ability to accelerate in a hurry, and maintain speed off a cut which really legitimizes his speed.  He's a special athlete from that standpoint and his ability to catch the ball. Wait until Hester is back next year.  He's very similar to Ean Randolph in ability and talent but a bit bigger- height wise. Walt Smith fumbled against KU.  Ben Williams is an ample runner but this is the key statistic he had 14 carries for 55 yards for a 3.9ypc average, Ponton had 17 carries for 101 yards for a 5.95 ypc average- against the same defense, and virtually the same times...in fact Ponton's could have been more inflated had he not been forced to make two, one yard plunges into the end zone that skewed his stats negatively.  Nothing against Ben, he's an OK change of pace guy, and the OL has improved, but Williams after this week will be nothing more than a guy to spell Ponton and I expect over the next five games the stats to read more like 23 carries for Ponton, and 9 for Williams.  That's the difference between a 1-A RB, and a 1-AA RB. A 4.4 in the 40 yard dash only equates to about a 12 second 100m. When we get some guys that run a 4.2 then we will know the program has arrived. Taurus is extremely fast though!
24. PITT, no question. We owe them 1. Speaking of which UL owes us one also. That game might be scary. Don't be surprised if they TRY to embarrass us. Unfortunately, after we are done with them, they will owe us two!
