  1. I know that it seems to me that the majority here do not like The Daily Stampede for one reason or another. However, I do read/watch/listen to them.

I would suggest you watch the most recent video they put on FB last night. It was game film breakdown with Seth Varnadore. He is a USF graduate and was a football coach for 9 years in HS and college (Asst at Tusculum). His breakdowns are nice and show that small mistakes are compounding the issues.

We are not good right now, but the plays are there...little issues are causing big problems. His game film videos have definitely helped me understand the game better and see how the mistakes are happening. Worth a watch.

As weak as this group looks, I am more concerned about our LB’s.  Besides Boyles who is ok, we don’t have much to get excited about, Grier lost weight and is all guns and little else.  Bellamy is too short, the other guys are young and unproven and Mims is too slow.  Can you put a positive spin on this what appears to be a very lackluster and smallish group.

Grier was the best defensive player on the team last season. May not be saying much, but the D was better when he was playing for sure.

  3. The more I think about this, why should we want to leave for the Big 12? It seems to be a conference in shambles. Their bellcows are leaving. I read somewhere their media payout per team could drop from $37M to $9M per team once that happens.

I need to find the link but I read a story that talked about the ratings comparison of the AAC to the remaining 8 B12 teams. Over the last 5 years, the average viewership is actually higher for the AAC.

I feel the AAC is solid (for now). I think they could send an open invite to 5 B12 teams and make this a nice conference to be in.

  4. I think they are going to be surprisingly better...I think 5+ wins and competitive in every game. I know 5 wins isnt great but I think a second year in the system with an increase in talent across the board has me optimistic for better than 5 wins. The improved QB talent alone is exciting.

I need to research the teams we play this year and see how they measure up with what they lost and gained.

I’m glad he is acknowledging that his leadership was a contributing factor and was in need of change as much as any other issue we were facing, it’s a shame he didn’t at least read a single management 101 book because even the most basic of research could have told him 1 and 2 were a problem in any field.

You can read all the books you want but you never know how things are going to go until the bullets start flying. I am in LE and see it all the time with first time supervisors. They micro-manage like crazy until they have a trust of the people they supervise. He evaluated himself, adjusted, and has a new plan of action.

Oxford High School coach Keith Etheredge said Tennessee informed him Tuesday that they would not honor wide receiver Roc Taylor's longtime commitment to the school.

"Etheredge said Taylor still plans on signing somewhere Wednesday. Indiana, UAB, Jacksonville State and South Florida are among the schools that had been in touch with him Tuesday."

    Good Points!

And to be fair to CJS, he came into a situation in his first year where he had almost zero time to recruit, and then the Pandemic happened.  He had very limited time in the off season to work face to face with his new players, to get to know them, to develop them, to analyze their strengths and weaknesses.  He was set up for failure this first year.  Any brand new Coach in College Football faced the same problems.

The pandemic is not over, so he still is working under a lot of these same limitations.  Its like everything (not just our football team but the entire world) has hit the pause button.  I don't think we can get a good gauge on how good or bad his recruiting and player development is until 2022 when all of this insanity is finally over.  I am looking for some improvement this year from last.  And I think we are starting to see that in this last recruiting and Portal Transfer season....at least I hope.

All good facts. Also just look at the guys we signed and look at who we are recruiting against compared to previous signed players. We just got a kicker that had offers from Alabama, Clemson, NC, etc. We got Jimmy Horn Jr. when UGA was hot on him.....these types of things make me excited for the future. These are the recruiting battles we haven't seen in several seasons. This next season may not be wonderful to watch but I believe there will be quite an improvement.

He has no USF stuff left on his twitter page. I've learned that whenever a player says blessed to get my "first P5 offer"...they are as good as gone for us.

Jimmy Horn Jr. says otherwise. Offers from UGA, TENN, Oklahoma but signs with USF, along with his HS QB

  9. I gotta find somewhere else to talk USF football...I can’t handle the stupid negativity on this board anymore. I’m not sure where any of you thought this team would be good.  Take into account the players out every week because of this stupid virus. The severe lack of talent at all positions. The lack of time together for the players or coaching staff. IDGAF what anyone here has to say differently. I’m out.

I’ll be back after the season to check recruiting.
