Supply issues are an issue. I'll be when the stadium opens. My uncle complains all the time how he has to  either wait for construction  materials, overspend to skip  some people, or just not take a job.  Ironically  he was one of the engineer firms to diagnose  the rust bucket. My cousins one went to usf and ucf .

For sure. We just had our house built. It was supposed to be done October 2022. Wasn't done until June 2023. Not fun.

Respectfully he is elite as a position coach and was not shown the door at South Florida. He was at Indiana as a HC but not everyone is cut out to be a HC and that's ok.

He was incredible as a DC during his one year here as we were ranked first in scoring defense in the AAC and top 25 nationally in just about every defensive category. He left us for Indiana and turned their 120 ranked defense around pretty quickly.

Regardless I do not believe any major coaching changes will happen after year one under Golesh. Essentially everyone gets a pass when attempting to turn a 1 win team around.

Actually ranked 5th in the AAC in Scoring Defense. Below (in order) UCONN (15th), Temple (17th), Houston (20th), Navy (26th)

The Defense was Top 25 in TFL's (13th), Turnovers Gained (24th), INT's (14th). Just outside Top 25 with Sacks (26th), Rush Defense (31st), Scoring Defense (35th)

They were ranked 52nd overall, which Total Defense is based on yards allowed.

    Years before and after below:

    Chuck Bresnahan:

    Scoring Defense in 2014: 65th

    Total Defense in 2014: 69th

    Raymond Woodie:

    Scoring Defense in 2016: 92nd

    Total Defense in 2016: 120th

    Brian Jean-Mary

    Scoring Defense in 2017: 41st

    Total Defense in 2017: 37th

Most Juco players technically are transfers from P5 schools or students who didn't have the grades. Besides Jason-Pierre Paul, what Juco players ever made an impact at USF? I think our best bet is to find the best FCS/D2 players in the portal. As for P5 transfers, we have had plenty of success in addition to failures. P5 transfers are not all the same. If I'm a good player sitting behind 2 NFL-caliber players, does it mean I suck? Some players are homesick, some players are clashing with a bad coaching staff, and some players want to leave a traumatic event and start fresh. You also have P5 grad transfers that may not have started, but played a crapload of games and is physically at their peak.

Andre Hall - RB 2004-2005 (NFL FA) back to back 1,000 yd seasons

Jaquain Wiliams - LB 2009-2010 (NFL drafted Giants 6th rd - won SB with JPP)

    David Bedford - DE 2008-2010

    Craig Marshall - DE 2008-2010

Kion Wilson - LB 2008-2009 (NFL FA)

    Claude Davis - DE 2010-2011

    Tevin Mims - DE 2012-2013

Jamie "Angry" Byrd - DB 2014-2015

Jhalyn Shuler - LB 2022- Current (Best Defensive player IMO)

There are several others that were solid role players. Clearly there seems to be a theme with successful JUCO players...They need to play defense

  4. The best players on Defense this year (IMO):

LB - Shuler, Gordon (Harris has come on strong recently)

DB - Brown, Evans, Stokes (Ward will be solid IMO, only RS FR)

    DL - Cheney, Ross, Logan

I think Shuler is our best player on defense this season

The lack of depth and team speed is noticeable. The DB's look outclassed just about every week. I don't think that is coaching...I think it is ability. Golesh kinda says so every press conference in a very nice way.

I think we need to give Orlando at least another season. There has to be improvement next year to get another year. His track record shows he knows what the hell he is doing. This is more than just scheme. It's tough...Do you change the scheme to fit what you have while trying to recruit to what you want to do? Sounds easy but what can you show the recruits what you are doing right now? Show them how they fit the role you are recruiting them for.

I say play your scheme. Shows the recruits where they can come in and compete right away. Plus you aren't trying to teach the returning players so much and now you have upper classmen with knowledge to share with the incoming players. Players coaching players.

It just takes time. I don't care how the schedule is different...they are 5-6 in 2023 after winning just 4 games from 2020-2022. The change is evident but the work is not done. They are building a program, not a season. That takes continuity. A foundation. Changing coaches each season will get nowhere.

usf is located in tampa. we have the most talent surrounding us than practically any school in the nation

if you cant recruit here go sell insurance

i can recruit better than than  our last 3 coaches

the trouble is usf couldnt afford me

They currently have the #58 ranked class and top "G5" class in the country. They are doing pretty well considering the past 3 seasons of garbage.

  6. I see Bernard Gooden is listed in the two deep at DT. I thought CAG said he was not eligible due to NCAA ruling against USF appeal to eligibility. Some issue with classes at Wake Forest in the spring semester prior to transfer.

Has he been in the two deep and I didn't notice? Or is this new? CAG was talking him up that we really needed him but he was out for the year.

Besides the Alabam game, it's probably the best chance we have for an 11-1 season since the last time we went 11-1. And when I say that I mean in terms of "strength of schedule".

We have never gone 11-1. Best record ever was in 2016. Regular season was 10-2 with a bowl win to go 11-2. 2017 the record was 9-2 and finished 10-2. Also 2002 we went 9-2.

Miller transferred from the SEU Fire in Lakeland and did okay for USF. Hopefullythe Wagner transfer shows out.

I think this kid is different. His highlight video reminds me of Ean Randolph. Randolph was a 2006 transfer to USF from Webber International. He ended up Big East Special Teams Player of the Year and 1st Team All-Big East.

I remember Randolph vs FIU in 2006. He returned 3 punts for TD! I think 2 of the three were called back for penalties. He also broke the ankles of a WVU DB in 2006 in one of the funnest USF games to watch of all time.

Staff Sergeant Don Collier (nicknamed "Wardaddy" by his tank crew) is the main protagonist of the 2014 war movie Fury. He is a battle-hardened soldier in the 66th...

"Wardaddy is a ruthless soldier with extreme brutality that almost knows no bounds."

    I like it!!

We need some D Linemen who play with extreme brutality for sure.

Factually Frisco wasn't wrong. His dad failed as HC and we paid him to be president of football operations to mentor his son. His son failed miserably as a head coach and might possibly be the worst FBS coach of all time. His son took a 3 fbs win team and turned it into a one win fbs team over 3 seasons. Jeff Scott maybe a nice guy but he was a terrible and  was not ready to lead a program. He is gone and we got another young guy who hopefully is the opposite of Jeff SCott. Go Alex Golesh GO!

I think the biggest issue for CJS is that he was really only exposed to one way of doing things...and it worked well in one particular place. If he truly wants to be a head coach again, he would be smart to take some time and work for some other coaches to get the experience and exposure of different methods. He knows "Dabo's Way" but he needs to learn "Jeff's Way."

Worked for Mike Locksley of Maryland. At New Mexico he had 2 straight 1-11 seasons and started year 3 at 0-4 and was fired. Went to Alabama to learn under Saban. Became the OC and won the Broyles award. At Maryland since 2019.

This is a joke hire...not good.

Why do you say that? Lack of experience? We had a QB Coach in 2016 that was a first time college coach. Minimal coaching experience at all when he was hired. He was a HS assistant for two years back in 2006 and 2008 then a 7 on 7 coach for a year before USF.

This dude is in his 4th year coaching a position he played in college. He was the Assistant OL Coach for the top rated offense in college football. I think we will be fine.

  12. So I did a quick review of Todd Orlando to see his track record as a DC. I just looked up the simplest form of Defense and went with Average Points Against.

Here is the list: School - Defensive Rankings - APA

    2006: UCONN - 93rd - 27.0

    2010: UCONN - 35th - 22.0

    2011: FIU - 14th - 19.5

    2012: FIU - 92nd - 31.8

    2013: Utah St - 7th - 17.1

    2014: Utah St - 12th - 19.7

    2015: Houston - 20th - 20.7

    2016: Houston - 30th - 23.5

    2017: Texas - 30th - 21.2
