  1. So I wonder how that works the other way. I know CJS made it sound like an engagement...so what about recruits committed elsewhere? Does he still go after them or leave them be because they are spoken for? Its always cool to flip a kid but I think that means they were not 100% to start with.

I do know that Scott pulled schollys from kids who were originally told that they stayed committed through the coaching change and took no other visits, that wouldn't happen. I understand that those were CCs holdovers but still,  if loyalty is a sticking point, its gotta go both ways..........

Who did that happen to? Just wondering who, not being argumentative.

  3. He said that his policy is that if you commit then you are committed...period. No more visits. If you commit then take a visit somewhere else then he will pull the scholarship. He compared it to getting engaged then dating other people up to your wedding day.

I agree with the policy, but i can see where it will be difficult due to these kids being young and easily influenced.

That's gonna be a long wait I'm afraid. I'd love for him to get another job and lessen our financial burden but I'm not sure he wants one and I'm not sure any good destinations want him.

I think he could make a very comfortable living as a DC somewhere. My feeling is his HC days are done.

  5. Just about anything you watch can be considered "lowbrow entertainment". I can tell you however that I watch football at a much different level than I do any movie or tv show, or just about any other sport.

I watch USF football with my Father in Law and we are dissecting the game as we watch...paying attention to schemes, formations, game plans, etc and discussing these topics. I am sure there are lots of people out there and on this board that do the same. So in a way I would say I am a more sophisticated football fan than not.

And as OBSESSED you are about CJL, you must watch at some level of sophistication......or not.

It’s 50 percent more than was being paid to the FAU assistants before they were all fired, we paid them all more for no other reason than because we had the budget. What’s the point of raising the pool if all we do is hire fired people that were making 50 percent less with it? Seems we only needed a pool of around $1.5 million and we could have invested the other two million into only losing a few million every season.

    When did they get fired?

I think it is still more apples to oranges.  I get that FAU destroyed Temple, and that was quite impressive.  But it was a meaningless Bowl Game, so you have to wonder how much of Temple's heart was in it.

I think the majority of the Cusa teams would struggle mightily against the AAC teams if they played each other throughout the entire season.  FAU is at the top of that conference right now, so if we were to raid any Cusa coaches, that would be the best school to target.

I don't have a problem with this approach.  But these coaches are in for an upgrade in competition and they will need to be ready for that.

and the hopeful thing is an upgrade in talent to go against the upgrade in competition.

Looks like an upgrade for the most part, but we have to remember this is CUSA level football, so its a little apples vs oranges.  Also, don't particularly like the Pass Defense stat - looks like a downgrade there!

Is it really though? I would say more like oranges vs grapefruit. CUSA level football destroyed SMU which destroyed us. Also, when was the last time we beat a CUSA team? We are 0 for the last 3.....

  9. Did anybody look at the history of these coaches?

Was there all this skepticism when the last Db coach was hired?

Jason Jones has had higher profile jobs than this guy....which seems to be the measuring stick for some on this board.

    Some numbers:

Total Defense: FAU 49th USF 72nd

    Scoring Defense: FAU 40th (22.7)  USF 75th (28.9)

    Rush Defense: FAU 34th (135.5) (17tds) USF 114th (208.6) (27 tds)

    Pass Defense: FAU 87th (238.7)(23 tds)     USF 14th (189.5)(15tds)

3rd Down Defense: FAU 13th (.313 conversion avg) USF 121st (.463 conversion avg)

    Turnovers (fumbles/ints): FAU  11/22   USF 12/12

    Tackles for Loss: FAU 46th (88) USF 5th (99)

    Sacks: FAU 34  USF 29

    Pass Efficiency Defense: FAU 39th (123.42) USF 51st (129.08)
