  1. USF should put a pin in the stadium idea and use that money to fund entry into the ACC. We will forego all revenue from the conference for the rest of the current ACC contract. Much better use of the money at this point. BTW, we are officially doomed, at least until 2036. I'm going to check out of this thread for the next decade or so.
  2. It's my biggest concern as well. In today's game you must have a legitimate #1 WR. I have challenged some of those who have been viewed as homers to tell me who the true #1 is on this roster, and no one could to date. Is it a more measured and reasonable approach to be concerned as to where the offense is going to come from or to be blindly convinced that the offense will be just fine, despite no real evidence to back it up (aside from CAG's track record)? I am cautiously hopeful that someone emerges.
  3. Brad has valid concerns about who are going to be the playmakers on offense. We are relying on returning guys, aside from Atkins, who really didn't contribute much last season and were down the depth chart, and newcomers that, while talented on paper, are still unknown to us. I think having concerns about where the USF offense is going to come from is legitimate and reasonable. It certainly doesn't come across as doomerism.
  4. A dramatic culture and attitude change from Leavitt to Holtz. He was destined to fail here under the circumstances. Super nice guy. Good Xs and Os guy, not the best recruiter though. Just a square peg in a round hole at USF.
  5. This is awesome. Brings the team and the community together. Look at the smiles on everyone's faces. A lot more of this. Force the news to give us the good PR and talk about our season. Have to say, there has not been a single misstep yet that I have seen from CAG!
  6. This shows the line movement at multiple sportsbooks. Odds Shark is the only one that opened the line at -11.5, as they appear to have been the first book to open. Draft Kings opened the next day at -15. You expect to see big swings early on with a line, but a 2 point swing across all sportsbooks at once indicates a significant bet by a sharp. If it were a significant injury, I would expect them to have taken it Offline in order to rework the odds. 7. It's tough when the initial line is set. That is really the only time that you expect to see 2+ point swings as the sportsbooks react to either the initial wave of money or bets by the professional bettors (aka "sharps"). This happened with the USC v. SJSU game. The line opened at -27.5 and almost immediately moved to -30 because of the influx of bets on USC. Their goal is to make as much of the 10% juice that they can on each game, knowing that there will be outliers and hoping that it all balances out in the end (which it pretty much always does for them). The line movement was only 2 points. Would have been 7+ if that were the case.
  8. Something dramatic happened around 1:03 pm on August 21 that caused the lines at all books to move by 2 points. If it was a big bet on USF, it was likely made a Caesar's Sportsbook, as they were the first to adjust the line from -13 to -11. It would take a significant amount of money to move the line 2 full points or a lot of the sharps quickly threw their money at USF on a random Monday (unlikely). Alternatively, it may have been a significant injury or an academically ineligible player, but finding updates on WKU football is not easy. There really is nothing out there that is publicly available. This is unlikely to have happened with an across the books 2 point swing. These types of adjustments are usually more incremental as the bets come in.
  9. It's crazy to think how close we were to still having CJS as the HC. I know we lost some of the games due to his coaching, but if we win 2 or 3 of the UF, Cincy, Tulsa, and UCF games, he probably doesn't get canned. I'm kind of thankful that we didn't and I am glad he is gone and that we have CAG, but it is crazy that we almost beat 3 of those teams.
  10. There was actually no truth to that. The player he was referencing was Mike Ford. At the time, the SEC/Bama allowed partial qualifiers and the Big East did not. Saban ran his mouth knowing that no one would hold him to account and that the media would take the bait and run with it, which they did. F@*k Saban (although he is a great coach).
  11. We aren't anywhere near an ACC invite, so it is easy to say that. If we could get in you 100% take it. Unfortunately, for us, that isn't even a concern. And of course we are focused on being the best athletics program we can be. It isn't like improving your conference and on field performance are mutually exclusive.
  12. If I were them, I would hedge in that way to try and get the income that comes with being a college head coach over a fledgling women's pro soccer assistant.
  13. Admittedly, my Japanese is a little rusty, but here is a rough translation: "Looking at Mhver and OS_Beaver's recent tweets, I can only feel their desperation... Lies are solidified with lies, and it's hard to tell what's true and what's false. If you pretend to be a college football insider, why don't you put fraudulent or beggar in front of the college football insider first? It's the only truth and there are no lies...
  14. Going to be tough to replace her. I am kind of hoping that her husband stays on for continuity sake, but I imagine he will want to go and help her coach in the pro league. Crazy to think she has been with USF for 17 seasons. She has built the team into a consistent winner, reaching the NCAA tournament in 8 out of the last 9 years and getting as far as the third-round.
  15. In the case of SMU, oil. In the case of Stanford, tech. In the case of USF, restaurants and strip clubs!
  16. I am really excited to see what Todd Orlando is going to do with this defense. Given our athleticism, it makes too much sense to be in a 3-4. This may be the most LB/DE hybrid depth that we have ever seen. 4 dudes coming in with real P5 experience and DJ Gordon. Then add in solid returners in Mac Harris, Brian Norris, Jhalyn Shuler, and Jonathan Ross. I think we will play fast and physical and get a lot of pressure in the backfield. Then, the D-line is beefed up and adds Doug Blue-Eli, Immanuel Hickman, and Bernard Gooden. Blue-Eli is a 6'2'' 320 lb. behemoth who is going to stuff the middle and give our DEs and LBs the ability to get into the backfield. Rashad Cheney, Jr. is back and should be healthy. He looked promising before going down with an injury early last season. Add in the disruptive Jason Vaughn, who led the team in TFLs and sacks, along with Logan, and Hobbs and we have what will be a stout and angry d-line led by the tenacious Kevin Patrick. The secondary adds P5 transfers Kendall Dennis and Braxton Clark and returns a lot of experience, including a health Daquan Evans and Will Jones, III. The biggest improvement for the secondary in an improved front 7 that will allow less time for the QB and prevent the DBs from having to worry too much about run support. I think the defense is going to be better than the offense this season. I see way more question marks on the offensive side of the ball. With the right scheme and good coaching, I think all of us are going to be pleasantly surprised by the performance of our USF War Daddies!
  17. You guys are not thinking about this from a business perspective. It is about perception and protecting the brand. Moderate to minimal short-term loss for long-term gain. Yes, there will be more consolidation, but getting into a P4 conference positions them the best for the next round of "Let's Ruin College Football". Do this thought experiment. If USF had the booster support right now to forego 5 years of conference media revenue and join the ACC, would you want them to do it? There is no other answer than Absolutely. What Stanford and SMU are trying to do doesn't make sense to you guys because it doesn't benefit USF.
  18. There is zero risk for SMU and Stanford. They clearly have the rich boosters that will make it worthwhile. In reality, they are foregoing $50 to $75 million (no way a new PAC deal would be worth more than $15 million per year) over the course of 5 years in order to avoid the tarnishing of associating with the G5 dregs, in the case of Stanford and Cal, and to try to elevate their program as better than the rest of the trash, in the case of SMU. If we had the money and opportunity to do so, we would be foolish not to. I am not going to search my old posts for this, but I have been advocating this for years for us to get into the Big 12 prior to the last 2 rounds of realignment.
  19. If there was an Apple contract and it was streaming only, I would hope that the league and Apple got together and offered some revolutionary content. Something like having the coaches mic'd up the entire game or a sideline feed where you can see what's going on. It could be on a 30 second delay and each school could have a representative that has the authority to dump audio to protect play calls and such.
  20. Don't get your hopes up too high. With USF, this is how the dominoes falling usually plays out....
  21. The men continue their perfect exhibition run beating uCF 2-0. Both of our squads are off to a great start. #6 Washington up next!
  22. Bulls survive a hot one in the bayou, getting an impressive opening victory 1-0 over LSU.
  23. 1-Nil USF over LSU in Baton Rouge at halftime. It should really be 2-0, but they called a ridiculous foul to nullify a goal.
  24. Stay with 8 teams and just have each team play a home and home against their new "rival". Stanford v. Cal, Oregon St. v. Washington St., SMU v. Tulane, USF v. Memphis. (or SMU v. Rice and USF v. Tulane if academics truly matter).
