  1. That’s not the team we’ve been seeing for the past decade. But it’s a temporary inconvenience, as Mike said.
  2. She does have a good handle and is an excellent defender, but I think her lack of offense - or even unwillingness to take a look at the basket - really hurts at this point because there just aren’t a lot of options. At the very least, Marina should probably be splitting minutes with Ariel. But Jose does what he needs to and it’s really hard to second guess him at this point. They’re going to struggle this year and still probably win 20 games.
  3. No, they aren’t, but . . . honestly, our season comes down to four days in March anyway. Need to be peaking then.
  4. Gonna be a frustrating year for Jose. If they’re not making threes, they don’t have much going. There’s zero in the post and although Wilson is a great defender, they can’t afford to have her on the floor this much when they don’t really have many offensive options. Feels to me like he needs to commit to Marina at PG and just ride with it. So unUSF-like team. They take bad shots, make silly passes, miss layups, etc. not stuff we’re used to seeing from Jose’s teams. It has to be killing him.
  5. He has no post play and no scoring from his PG, so he basically only has three players on the floor who are a threat.
  6. This. Chemistry or not, it’s probably a game you should win on talent alone. That’s the one we’ll look back on at the end of the year as the real head-scratcher. CMU lost to Loyola and FSU - two teams we beat fairly easily - by 65 combined points. It happens, I guess. But you have to like what you’ve seen over the past three weeks. Temple should tell us a bit more tomorrow. That’s a totally winnable game. They come in losers of three of the past four - VCU, Old Dominion, Nevada and the closest loss was 9 points - the only W was a grinder against Portland (55-54). Despite the numbers in our favor, in years past, we lose this one, so let’s see if we’re not the same old South Florida.
  7. It’s funny what a 7-6 season and a rout of Syracuse will do. We were “USF Who?” or “USF brings no value” this time a year ago. When we were losing, these internet geniuses had a very short memory about how good we were just a few years before. Now we’re the sleeping giant arising again after a .500 regular season against some pretty awful teams. We’re making progress, our university is a good one academically, and our market ultimately makes us a viable candidate for anyone. Nothing has changed except a couple more wins, but in the minds of all these internet “experts” we’re somehow worthy again. It’s a laugh, and a very predictable one.
  8. It’s all about pitching this year. With Brutcher, Boser, Snow, etc. there should be enough bats.
  9. Also, I watched a good bit of FAU-ECU, SMU-Charlotte and UAB-UTSA. We should be able to play with any of them. There’s no reason we can’t finish in the top half of this league.
  10. Dang, we’re playing in some high school gyms this season! FAU and UTSA games on tonight and those “arenas” can’t seat more than a couple thousand. Don’t know about the other new schools.
  11. I get the numbers aspect, but if I’m Golesh, I feel like I need another guy. I’m not sure how many of the guys I have I can rely on? Maybe just Wright at this point. Can I bank on Joiner being available? Powell seemed to work his way down the depth chart this season. Yasius? No. They gave him a scholarship for hard work, not productivity. Gonella? Uh, no. I doubt he even returns. We have to hope that Jaylen Johnson is as advertised out of high school and can contribute next year. There may be some numbers there, but not a whole lot of stats or dependability beyond Wright.
  12. Your legit RB room now is Wright, Joiner, Powell and Jaylen Johnson. That’s it. Joiner is always injured, Wright and Powell are just grinders and Johnson, who knows? You need a back. If you’re playing Yasias or the true frosh, you’re in trouble.
  13. How many of those 9 are on scholarship. I’d guess 4-5. Your legit RB room now is Wright, Joiner, Powell and Jaylen Johnson. That’s it. Joiner is always injured, Wright and Powell are just grinders and Johnson, who knows? You need a back.
  14. A few more? There’s space right now for that guy. Joiner will be injured and Wright has no burst.
  15. Just FYI, Central Michigan lost to Loyola, Chi., (who we beat by double digits) on Saturday by THIRTY EIGHT points.
  16. He’s a Sarasota guy and he seriously helps this team. You bring him back if he wants to come back. With today’s college football free agency, you get over it. The first time he takes a kickoff or a screen play to the house, all is forgiven.
  17. I’d bring him home in a second, no hard feelings, let’s get back to work!
  18. When 40 guys opt out, yep, they stopped caring about winning. Whatever, seems like lately your position on most things is just the contrary.
  19. He finished. We’ll see him play baseball this year or maybe in the minors.
  20. And I guess C.J. Brown is the same on the men’s side. He’s tearing it up . . . https://heraldcourier.com/sports/thursdays-arbys-classic-c-j-brown-magic-show-continues-at-viking-hall/article_d2172114-a604-11ee-9462-33dd7ab2e7a5.html
