  1. Interesting response. So, we will overlook the fact the "p" designation was not a thing yet and the talking heads fell all over themselves to trash the Big East. Also the fact USF had only been in said Big East a handful of seasons. My question is, if USF had built a stadium, who would we have beat out?
  2. Even earlier before the birth of this thread, there were some discussions here alluding to the possibility of 4 - 16 team conferences. I did find it odd and naive that some of our fans thought USF would be a shoe in for that. If you look at all of the moves, almost all of the schools have either been in big time conferences before or had name brands which the average fan has known for years. The only exception is that group of miscreants to the east which will remain unnamed.
  3. Not to mention, he thinks Air Force would be better in a photo. I guess that is hard to argue with.
  4. That was a talking point used by the local media 10 years ago. Nanci Donnellan was somewhat tolerable (when compared to some of the other offerings of the time) and I sometimes would tune in. When she made a statement implying USF wanted to be in the AAC, I tuned out of local sports talk for good.
  5. Well, one of them had his head brought to Joel Hodgeson and another is searching for more goose grease.
  6. I realize for most of you it is ancient history, but besides the academic profiles, all four mentioned at one time played in what are now referred to as "power" conferences.
  7. Matt Baker is so disingenuous when he tries to imply that USF fans somehow want a cheerleader. He is unable to write a story without some sort of snarky comment or without casting aspersions about the USF program. Funny how and intern, yes intern, could write a story which included just the facts, without the above irritants and she did not cheerlead. Her name is Charlotte Varnes. Probably not long for the times, too businesslike.
  8. It's so confusing. I thought Exene and John Doe had started their own platform
  9. So, given what has happened on the field the last couple of years, do they desire a good Homecoming opponent?
  10. Those of us who have lived quite a few years remember when it was the PAC 8.
  11. The only reason I would not boo you off of the stage with this one is they were one of the original Sun Belt Conference teams along with USF. I do have a small amount of magnanimity (small amount) for legacy type choices.
  12. I too can understand why he has that opinion. Me, I look at it from a rational point of view and think USF proved, when playing a Big East schedule with many teams the fans have heard of while having a competitive team, they can pull in 40 to 50k on average a game. I would like to think that is taken into consideration along with the points you made. Now, being considered and actually receiving an invite are two different things. The only outright issues are the lack of a "name brand" and the distance from the Pac4. From an emotional point of view, it is frustrating that the two most active times in realignment happened when the football team was at it's valley.
  13. UCF found out they weren't going to win so easily when McCants dragged their defender into the end zone.
  14. This is a great topic for me since I appreciate guys who prepare and do what it takes to help the team to win despite not being a star. I thought about this and I surprisingly have to choose an offensive player, RB Demetris Murray. The guy got us some tough yards, had a nose for the end zone, could catch the ball, blocked for his teammates. I cannot remember him being out of position or even fumbling.
  15. Nothing surprises me now. Still, had you told me any time in my life before that EZU might be in the same conference as Stanford and Cal, I would have bet all of my chips against it. That's without even considering geography.
  16. I would forgive him for that one. If you've ever had the misfortune of spending any time in the NC version of Greenville, you will wish you were in SC.
  17. Nothing but facts and information, no snarky comments or aspersions cast. God bless and protect this intern for she knows not what sin she has committed.
  18. I remember when USF was in the Sun Belt with them. I think there were only 6 teams.
  19. That's not even taking into consideration club access and suites.
