1) I proposed undercutting everyone at every opportunity long before teams started doing it and it actually paid off. It paid off for programs rolling in money. It nets them more money
2) Fire Mike Kelly and hire a professional. Professional what? Is there a profession that specializes in conference upgrading? I would take any part of having spent more time inside an athletic department instead of outside it but yes absolutely if someone has gotten a team into a new conference I would love to have that guy on the team. From a critical perspective what value add is he? I would even prefer a disengaged sports celebrity that knows how to hire and delegate.
3) Over pay on Deion Sanders and give him whatever oversite he wanted. Deion made it clear that the primary reason he didn't come was conference and location. Nothing he could immediately change when he got here. His ego wouldn't chance failing. I am a whore and I take the most money and power offered to me is never a good answer, it is best to put the best offer by a long shot in front of people and see if you cant get them to accept it because they really like challenges and the unique opportunity USF has to offer....
4) find any way to direct almost all athletic funds to NIL (especially ones that are being squandered on unnecessary vanity project only exciting to people that have proven they will never defect no matter what). That would possibly just lead to winning quicker, which you say doesn't matter. Beat Alabama this year and that definitely matters, beat Miami next year and that definitely matters, beat every embarrassingly awful team in this conference by embarrassingly awful spreads and then beat the real teams in the post season and that matters, get discussed regularly in rankings and recruiting rankings and that is also of consequence. Just beating AAC teams is not as important because it does not address the issue of playing aac teams of which i rarely see discussed outside of seeking out USF information.
5) go independent if all else fails, use the lack of a mortgage and that games only cost you money and not holding cost to your advantage with more 2 for 1's, anything is better than dying on the vine. Except we're not dying on the vine. It's just a vine that you and others can't accept. Check out how Independents not named Notre Dame have fared. It's not an option by any realistic metric. Every metric points to most people in the community not willing able to accept it, if fewer and fewer people care, attend games and discuss your team as you continually become less relevant what would you prefer to call it? I have no issue rebranding the nomenclature for how the AAC is completely destroying our program.
We need to drum up interest, a PR team wouldn't hurt, and everything has indicated that there is no interest in Tampa for the ACC. That is a legit problem that needs solving and ignoring it and blaming the consumer is not going to do that. PR team? This isn't some popularity contest or Internet poll. Our resume's out there. Right now who knows what drives the next realignment/call up and it makes sense if there really isn't interest in Tampa for the ACC right now. That's not going to be solved by USF so blaming them is kind of ridiculous.
A popularity contest is exactly what this is, our brand is diminishing and needs a refresh because people are not buying what we are selling.
I do appreciate you taking the time to respond ....
