  1. I'd love to see a USF Stadium on campus!! That would be great for USF and the community!!
  2. Good for them!! I have some friends that went there.
  3. Good article!! I only wish the city would read it and Orlando would do something for the Magic!!
  4. Nevermind...here it is..... http://whitwatson.sunsportstv.com/
  5. I don't know the source of this article...but it's interesting and well written. Makes some good observations and points. I pulled it from another message board...but no source or link was given....
  6. Until UCF and USF is averaging 80-90K a game....they will always be the Big 3. Although UM fans only attend the big games.
  7. I've noticed tonight after watching the Fresno St./Boise St. game a huge trend in using the "noise bangers".  They've become pretty popular lately.  I've seen them at Lightning games and NBA games and other sports...especially more so now in college football. Our student section uses them and bigtime. Does USF ever use these...if not...why?
  8. This is funny!! Would you move from the ACC or SEC to the Big East?? NO!! Also...lets say they did move...then the SEC and ACC would probably grab WVU and Louisville. Then it's back to square one. But overall...South Carolina and Clemson are within driving distance from most of their conf. opponents. Won't happen. As for UCF...by the time the Big East decides to expand or if they decide to expand...UCF will have the facilities that the BE would look for to compete. USF fan not wanting UCF makes sense to me. It evens recruiting grounds that USF can use right now as an advantage. If the tables were turned...UCF fans wouldn't want USF, either. WVU might also vote "no" on UCF for cancelling games. But I'm not sure if they'd really care by then. Overall...if the Big East expands and raids CUSA again to go to 12 teams...I'd hope UCF was included because CUSA would be in a terrible postion. But who knows what'll happen. Right now I'm enjoying CUSA and it's a fun conference. That's where we are...that's all I care about.
  9. Hooray!! http://news.ucf.edu/UCFnews/index?page=article&id=00240041603497a010714bf2afc007423
  10. The MAC is practically forgotten this year. That's silly to compare it to CUSA. You all tend to forget UTEP and Tulsa are pretty good teams, too. UTEP is on the verge of getting into the Top 25. Southern Miss is a really good football team and would probably compete for the top spot in the Big East, IMO. Congrats on your win and we look forward to the game in Orlando next season. UCF's turn around is an amazing story coming from a team that was practically all freshmen and sophomores last season. This season UCF is still the youngest team in CUSA. I expect UCF to be even tougher next season and with 7 home games (2 vs. BE teams USF/Pitt)...UCF will be looking at a pretty nice set up. USF is having a good year...but I'm not sure what to expect next season. USF loses some bigtime players to graduation this season...so that game in Orlando won't be as easy as the one this season, for sure.
  11. I don't have any doubt that the UCF/USF series will continue, either. It's just logical finacially and an easy game to schedule. Whether it becomes a traditional rivalry or not....that would be determined by time. It may...it may not. But it's an easy game for both the teams and fans to travel to...as well...it's a lot cheaper than flying to some Big 10 or Big 12 school!! But there's also chances of some SEC/ACC teams scheduling some home and homes with USF and UCF. Although there's slim chances of teams like Auburn, Bama, UF, UGA, FSU..etc. coming to town (although Miami (FL) is slated to come to UCF in 2009 currently)...it'll be difficult to get most of those big boys. But teams like Duke, Vandy, Wake Forest, Miss. State would possibly be easier. Although UCF has played Purdue and scheduled NC State @ home (UCF cancelled the series). But you never know. Anyway...expect UCF and USF to keep the series going. Attracts a big crowd and I don't think the USF fans need to worry about traveling to Orlando and being harassed by fans. If you can venture into UM...I'm sure UCF won't be a problem. We're in Orlando....not Philly!!
  12. Anyone notice they only had 30K at their game vs. UNC!! UM is ranked #6 going into that game and it was an ACC game vs. a known ACC team that BEAT them last season...and only 30K show up?? USF and UCF would do anything to be #6 in the nation. I know for a fact that if UCF or USF had the history of UM and were a top 10 team for the past 6 years and were in the ACC...we'd sellout every game!!!
  13. As a college fan...a school like UF has developed it's tradition by playing football for about 100 years.  Been playing mostly the same schools to create a long history and rivalries for almost as long.  UF also has been the largest school in the state for it's entire exhistance.  That's a lot of time to develop a big fanbase, alumni base and generate a LOT of money!! But people mostly remember UF from the past couple of decades as being a powerhouse type program.  But UF wasn't a consistant winner until the early 80's and a consistant Top 25 team until the early 90's. Even FSU and Miami...no matter how many times they've beaten UF...can't escape their shadow across the state.  Odds are....schools like USF and UCF can win all they want...but it'll take a LOOONG time to be as big or have the fan base as UF, no matter how much each school wins. I agree...winning will help matters and create exposure, revenue and put a school in a great position to remain a winner and build a larger and larger fanbase....but UF's identity is marked on this state for good.  Within the 30 miles surrounding Gainesville...everything is ALL GATOR...restaurants, bars, gas stations...etc. are all covered in Orange and Blue. Miami is #6 in the nation going into it's home game vs. North Carolina last Saturday.  They have national championships, conference championships, a ton BCS and non-BCS bowl wins, history and a shot to finish in the top 5....this season.  UF isn't even close to that.  Why would they be in UF's shadow still?  Because they only had 30K for their game last saturday.  Their fans don't care unless it's FSU or UF coming to town.  They have lousy traditions and rarely sell out.  They share their hometown with just as many UF fans as they do UM fans. I know that if USF were to win like that...and have that type of resume within the next 20 years...USF would have a packed house every game...but give either fan base in Tampa or Orlando a couple of bad seasons...they will high tale it and think of something else to do.  In fact...most will probably go back to being Gator or Nole fans. It's a sad truth....but the truth.  We share our market with those teams and will always be out-numbered by their combined fan base in our home towns. So...instead of saying....why can't we be as big as UF.  Just be what you are and hope for the best.  Nobody is taking the team away from you...but it'll take a long time for any school to have what schools like UF, Alabama, Auburn, Notre Dame, USC, Michigan, etc. have. Winning does a lot for any program...but it takes a looooong history and a faithful fanbase, created throughout many decades to come even close to what those schools have.  It's almost impossible to recreate or achieve that.  Doesn't hurt belonging to conferences like the SEC and Big 10, either.  Both full of history and tradition to add fuel to every week. I'm not saying you need to settle for mediocracy or be happy to just make a bowl...but just know the difference and realize that you are who you are and win your own championships and go to your own bowls or NCAA Tournys.  Make your own statement as USF.  Even if UF is always looked as being above USF....so what.  That won't change your feelings the day USF wins it's first BCS Bowl game or possibly one day an actual National Championship.
  14. Attendance is an issue...for sure. Tulane took a hit by being moved...but we'd probably only have aroudn 23-25K, though if played. Hopefully this week will change. The biggest problem that UCF faces is little exposure in Orlando anymore. Sun Sports doesn't air away games and the only way to see 'em is online or by buying the CSTV package. Die-hards do this...but the casual fan is wondering where we are?? It'll take time to get UCF fans back on the wagon fully. If USF went 0-11...I couldn't imagine what Ray Jay would look like.
  15. Well...I look at it this way. Each individual can feel how they want about this game. But for those I know from USF and UCF who will be attending the game next year...we look forward to it and hope it continues. Being so close...I'll be able to attend both games each season with no problems.
  16. Thanks. As far as failure...I don't see how it could. Compare it to the C-Bowl and the revenue it'll generate compared to playing in the C-Bowl...there's no reason to go anywhere but up with the thing. USF is in need of a stadium, too. It'll give USF much more identity and seperate them from the shadow of the Bucs logos everywhere. But...playing in Ray Jay is also pretty central and a sweet place to play, as well.
  17. Playing a tougher schedule doen't make you a better team. You were better that night vs. UCF...but it won't happen next year. Odds are by looking at your schedule...USF isn't going to a bowl and UCF has a legit shot. UCF going to a bowl before the "almighty USF" would be awesome. Doesn't matter if it's the smallest little New Orleans bowl vs. a Sun Belt team....it's still a bowl and we would've gotten there first. Our SOS...your SOS...all the same to me...as long as we have more W's and go to a bowl.
  18. UL is a mid-Major as well as UCF. I never said UCF wasn't a mid-Major. But UL hasn't done anything to prove that they're not a mid-Major, IMO.
  19. Well...get your AD to grow a sack and schedule UCF in hoops...and we'll beat you. We've only played once in football and USF was the better team....but UCF will be the better team next year and the two aren't that distant. USF is enjoying a very talented and experienced team this year...but next it will be UCF in that situation and at home. S. Bien....your arrogance is what is laughable...especially since UCF is still the more recognized name anywhere than USF.
  20. So...since Bien doesn't want a rivalry game with UCF...the entire fan base of USF agrees.  Case closed. I'm not going to try and convince anyone of anything.  I think the game has a rivalry type atmosphere and many fans from both schools do agree.  If they're the only ones...so be it.  You can choose your own school to be rivals with.  Hate UL, instead.  Do you consider your game @ Miami a rivalry?  Miami was laughing at you all.  So will UF..and eventually FSU.  Do you think we're going to go into UF next year calling out a rivalry?  No.  USF/UCF isn't a rivalry with any tradition or history....but it is a game of interest that has potential for a traditional rivalry.  The locations are what make it a "natural" rivalry.  That's how I see it.  Between me and my friends from USF...that's a fact.  That's how we see it....what are you gonna do.  Convince them that it's not? You're hoping for UL as a rival. UL has Kentucky and a bunch of others they'd claim, first. Now you're talking about Pitt as a rival...Pitt has Penn St. and many others they'd consider first. Maybe you and Rutgers will start something up this week, though?
  21. I see you're still up to your old self. Who's acting like "God's Gift" to anything. Try accomplishing anything (and the UL win just obviously a farce...and they're still a mid-major, IMO). I like how Bien likes to speak for over half the USF fans that in his mind don't want UCF as a rival. We're not a big enough team to be associated with as far as USF goals and standards are. What a joke!! Look...you can view the two teams as they are....but I found our game to be a lot of fun, despite the score and that game will still be your highest attended this season. If UCF wins next year...and the series continues...it may turn into a nice rivalry. But it's not a nessesity for UCF to succeed. It's just that both schools are so close and we all have friends from both. My friends that went to USF still brag about the game. They talk about wanting to play every year and think your AD and HC need to get it done that they've been stupid not to, thus far. So...speak for yourself, bien. Some of us do think it's a fun atmosphere and just fun overall. It's just a game...Not a popularity contest.
