  1. You must have. While some titles I would like to watch are not available through Prime, most are. I found LOTS of titles, but almost nothing was for free. It can be a bit confusing since Amazon has streaming for everything (like iTunes), but theres a specific "Amazon Prime" section in the videos section where everything in that section is free to stream. Looking at mine, they have movies like: The Avengers (and all previous Avenger movies: Iron Man, Captain America, Thor), Hunger Games, Lincoln Lawyer, Rango, Mission Impossible (all of them), Safe, Cabin in the Woods, and a bunch of older movies like Goonies, Rainman, etc... Under TV, free shows include: Downtown Abbey, Justified, Suits, 24, The Shield, Fringe, American Horror Story, Arrested Development, Workaholics, The Tudors, The Good Wife, Dr. Who, Sons of Anarchy, Key & Peele, Parks & Recreation, Everybody Loves Raymond, etc..... plus a load of kids shows. Theres a lot more than that too, I just pulled some of the major titles that came up.
  2. This rumor very well could be true simply because it isn't really anything groundbreaking. The ACC will get carved up, its not a matter of if, but simply when. Teams have to realize this and will make the appropriate moves to stay at the "big boy" table. UNC has been the apple of the eye for the B1G and SEC, so them becoming a YES to the SEC where the money will be as good if not better than the B1G (once the SEC network is up and running), and they get to stay in the south is really a no-brainer. Miami knows that FSU will either go to the B1G (longshot), or take the lifeboat in the Big 12. No sense in them waiting around and risk being left behind. FSU won't take them to the B1G with them, so them making a sure bet on the Big 12 is smart. As far as the FSU part, this is simply just in line with the FSU and B1G rumors (that they are an option). FSU is likely just waiting for a yes/no from the B1G before becoming a definite yes to the Big 12. With the Maryland/ACC lawsuit seeming like it wil be settled for somewhere in the $20-30 million dollar range (and possibly soon), then the dominoes could start falling real soon. If we are to believe the rest of his rumor, then I guess we need to hope for a FSU to B1G move. At the very least (if FSU does go Big 12), if its the ACC simply losing 6 teams (FSU, UM, UNC + UVA/Ga Tech/?), then they'll likely look to add 4 to get back to 12. I would guess it would likely be UConn, Cincy, USF + UCF/Temple. Still a much better situation than we are currently in.
  3. The Tampa to Orlando corridor has something around 7-8 million cable subscribers. The University of Texas knows this and they want their network to get into the state of Florida. If FSU and/or Miami decide not to go their way, then we are the next best option. If it increases the University of Texas' bottom line, then they will find a way to make it happen. That's a stretch. They can't even get the next on providers in their home state, or most states in the Big 12. They've been forced to broadcast LHN games in opponents' market. It's just not reasonable at this time. Sigh. Fox has the Big 12's second tier rights. Fox has new networks and can use some good programming to fill air time. Fox would get higher ratings in Florida if USF/UCF can deliver eyeballs from the Florida market. You put USF @ Texas on the air and people in Florida will flip the channel from Minnesota @ Northwestern to USF @ Texas. This works even better when USF and UCF have more money and a higher prestige conference with which to draw recruits in a recruiting hotbed. Add it all up and Fox sees a nice bump in TV ratings = more money. Absolutely Fox and the Big 12 would rather have FSU/Miami. But if that isn't an option, do you think they would get a slice of the Conneticut market or the Florida market? That is the scenario under which this works. It has nothing to do with TLN. Good points. I think the one thing you can plainly see when reading threads like this (whether its on our board or others), is that some people are just truly incapable of thinking or seeing anything past "today". Its the same reason some businesses thrive while others die. FOX is a forward thinker. Sure they prefer the already established value of FSU or Miami, but if they can't get that, then I'm sure they know they can get similar long term value by looking torwards USF/UCF. You're talking about 2 schools with an extremely large student population, and rapidly growing alumni base, large TV markets (mega-market combined), whom you'd be greatly upgrading their schedule, exposure, and greatly (greatly greatly greatly) increasing their budget. FOX sees the USF/UCF that would be 10 years down the road with those resources (money and exposure) (They also see that if they don't get FSU/Miami, they can also slightly damage those ESPN brands by upgrading USF/UCF). Most message board users see USF/UCF 10 years down the road the same as they are today.
  4. This. Realistically there should be no way this won't at the least be announced as a sellout - even if 12K of UCF students don't make it. Between both fanbases, this (45k) should be easy. The real test comes the following year and whether both our fanbases can sell out RayJay at 67K. If its again on black Friday, that will be the true test.
  5. The problem with a FSU raid is that FSU and the remaining ACC members are not quite sure yet exactly how much leaving will cost. They raised the exit fee, so I doubt they do anything until they see how much Maryland is paying to leave. Then there's the question about just how much Fox and the Big XII would have to pay. So you hit on exactly why both could be interested in UCF and USF - because they could see both schools supplanting FSU and Miami due to the cash influx and exposure the Big XII would give them. In short, USF and UCF would mean that Fox and the Big XII would pay less to enter Florida than if they go after FSU unless FSU decides to bear the burden on their own. Truth is that FSU may have waited too long. They probably could have bailed over a year ago, but they waited. I think it's the same thing that kept them from joining the SEC 20 years ago - fear of being second fiddle or worse in a tougher conference. FSU still thinks they can recruit Florida and dominate a crappy ACC - and they probably can. They don't want to compete with Oklahoma, Texas, OKST, etc. They'd love the money, but their schedule would be tougher. Frankly, this would be a smart move from a financial perspective. USF would have to forfeit its big BE payout in all likelihood from the reserve fund, but they get greater stability. The Big XII gets into Florida in two large markets instead of a place away from the majority of the population in the panhandle. FSU would draw bigger audiences initially, but the argument could be made the USF and UCF could be powerhouses within five years in a conference like the Big XII - and that will mean a lot more eyes on the TV in Florida, a state soon to be #3 in population behind Texas. I can agree with that. I think its primarily a ploy in that it will force FSU's hand (either find a way to make it financially work or we're moving on down the road to help build two behemoths in your backyard). But that doesn't mean it still cant be a win or win bigger scenario for them. Either FSU (and Miami or Clemson) bite the bullet and make the jump and they get what they want (win bigger), or they pay less up front, get into two huge Florida markets, with two schools with a large amount of students and upward mobility. While Florida is certainly big enough to support multiple teams, I do think if you look a decade (or two) down the road, a USF/UCF combo in the Big 12 would eventually take a big bite out of their (FSU) recruiting in the area. It won't happen over night, or a few years, but give it time where Oklahoma, Texas, WVU, Okie State are playing every year in either Tampa or Orlando, AND you now have given USF/UCF the funds to really upgrade facilities and staff and compete, then I think eventually the I-4 corridor will start to become Big 12 country. That being said, the likely big unknown in this is what the future looks like long term for the Big 12 and Fox. If there is backdoor dealings on a future Big 12 network (with Fox like the B1G has), then grabbing Tampa and Orlando now might actually start to make even more sense. But if those discussions haven't or aren't happening, I'm a little weary on what the major benefit to the Big 12 would be to make them actually go through with USF/UCF expansion if FSU/Miami call the "bluff" or atleast want to continue to wait for a Maryland resolution.
  6. I did this one as well (and I think 2 more). Just to clarify, I did these out of fun and had (have) no intentions of doing anything with them.
  7. Yes! this thread is back. As I mentioned in the other thread, this is likely just a ploy. But its a good ploy. Theres no way that FSU (and even more so Miami) can afford to let USF/UCF get equal footing (if not better footing) in the state. A USF (or UCF) with tens of millions more in funds, better exposure, better scheduling, etc... would be a serious danger to both FSU and Miami. Not to mention I'm sure the last thing they want beyond USF and UCF recruiting better in the I-4 corridor is having Texas and Oklahoma playing a game every year in Florida and increasing their recruiting efforts in the state (without them seeing a single benefit from it). A Big 12 invite would have me busting out the Johnny Walker Gold, but much more likely is the possibility of this accelerating the semi-destruction of the ACC and getting us a better landing spot with the ACC leftovers and best of the Big East.
  8. I've always liked the War Flamingo because it is our own stupid (albeit small) "tradition". That being said, I'm pretty sure last year proved that the TSA Nazi's will never allow the war flamingo to take off, atleast not while we remain at RayJay. Anyways....
  9. I think its pretty dead on logic, but as mentioned, we are nothing likely more than a bargaining chip. Their (Fox) ultimate goal would be to kill the ACC, while simultaneouly strengthening the B1G and Big 12 (conferences they have inventory with). This would severly hurt an ESPN only product (ACC) and now, serverly hurt another ESPN product (Big East?). Its a win-win all the way around for Fox, and why the B1G rumors are likely true (that they are atleast courting ACC teams).
  10. Is there any suprises left who we were in on? Collins is the only one I can think of (and he's likely just reconsidering going with UM over Ark).
  11. Isn't just a lot easier to not read or post in the thread then have it shut down?
  12. I'm gonna dream slightly and hope for: 1) AW 2) Kemp (or Collins) 3) Kirkland 4) Travis Johnson 5) Kelsey
  13. If the staff can somehow convince JoJo and the Alexander Brothers to take their last OV this weekend at USF that would be huge. I think it will help to possibly convince a few of them to make the jump on the bus if they see the other high level of talent around them considering USF.
  14. You need to have a pretty vivid imagination to venture into these threads and suspend reality as we know it ... I get that, my frustration is more with some of the so called "national media" which seems to run with these rumors as bad if not worse than the common fan and get everyone in a frenzy. I expect a journalist to atleast weigh things with reality, and that simply doesn't happen. I get politics running off the rails, but to have sports reporting now be as bad as TMZ, well thats just frustrating.
  15. I have no problems talking and debating alot of this stuff, but some seam to take these rumors and run off a cliff with them. All we are hearing is teams making plans and back up plans. They all have to without knowing whats going on. But there is absolutely ZERO chance that Boise or SDSU leave the Big East until they know for 100% certainty that atleast 2 of the major east market teams are leaving (no matter who they are: Cincy, UConn, USF, UCF. etc....). Until that happens, I wouldnt worry. And considering that 2 of the Big East teams aren't leaving until likely 2 ACC teams leave, then this is all much to do about nothing until then.
  16. Wow, makes me feel like I need to hang up the cleats. I've been on this board I think 9-10 years and I'm still just a super sophomore. Need to step up my game.
  17. Wow a possible staff including Shannon, Weinke, Hovan and Blackwell certainly would not hurt one bit in recruiting.
  18. Interesting idea, something along the lines of: South USF UCF ECU Memphis Tulane North UConn Cincy Temple Navy UMass (or Army) Central SMU Houston BYU Air Force Co State (or Tulsa or UTSA) West Boise St SDSU Fresno St UNLV (or Nevada) New Mexico TV Markets: Tampa, Orlando, New Orleans, DFW, Houston, Boston, Philly, Denver (Co Springs/Fort Collins), SLC/Provo, Vegas, Albuquerque, Memphis, Cincy & San Diego with semi-national draws in Navy, BYU and Boise.
  19. If we're blowing up and starting over, Id just prefer the leftover Big East, CUSA and MWC best teams just come together to create a national "best of" mid-majors left. Something along the lines of: East Cincy UConn Temple USF UCF ECU Memphis Tulane (although I'd prefer Tulsa) West Boise St BYU San Diego St Houston SMU Nevada (or UNLV) Fresno St Air Force (or Co State) Then outside of the very very rare occasional MAC undefeated champ, no other mid-major should be ranked ahead of the champion of this conference (and take the "BCS" bid). Covers ALOT of major markets, and takes almost all of the "next level" teams in the mid-majors. Travel would be minimized because of the divisions, football would be by far better than the CUSA, MAC, Sun Belt + leftovers, and basketball would still be half decent with Memphis, Temple, UConn, Cincy, BYU, etc... in conference.
  20. Technically, there are many who believe they did as they had a prophecy for the return of a god to arrive by sea in "anger", and that time period directly corresponded with the arrival of Cortez. Doesn't mean much because they don't predict the end of the world with their calendar anyway, simply a time of great change (which could mean basically anything). Thats whats so funny about the nonsense.
  21. Correct and Incorrect. The Mayans didn't have a leap year, but they didn't need one. The calendar that ends on Dec. 21, 2012, is their long count calendar, which wasn't really based on a "year" but rather longer periods of time. Leap year didn't need to be factored in and its absolutely no coincidence that their calendar ends on a solstice. That being said, all that means is the calendar ends on that date. Nothing more.
  22. Thanks, plenty of room left in this class then for Coach T to make an impact. Just bringing back AW and JoJo would be huge in itselft. Add in another big recruit and would have the makings of a solid class (despite only a few months for him).
  23. Could be a good idea if they rotate the camp (if there are locations for this) all around the Tampa area. Maybe next years camp down in the Bradenton/Sarasota area. The following year in St.Pete/Central Pinellas area. Would be a great outreach to not only fans, but future recruits in those areas to come see camp (or the scrimmages).
  24. For those who follow this closely. Based on our current commits, how many spots left on the bus for this year for Coach T to fill?
