  1. Since ABC owns ESPN, etc, etc.... How will all this interfere with Monday Night Football? Would the NFL not be playing by Labor Day? Another reason to have it during the day. I can probably see an ABC or ESPN daytime double-header with Miami/F$U and then USF/Pitt.
  2. Make sure you add this site to the web ring! Good job!
  3. If there was a team to play 5 days later on our schedule, it would be Tenn Tech. My only beef with Monday is if we were scheduled at the same time as Miami/F$U. Take the TV, the exposure and the money.
  4. My bad...forgot about Easter... thanks, Howie.
  5. You probably paid the extra $ because the actual plate wasn't up for replacement. Normally, I think they replace them with a new one every 3 years or so.
  6. Kdawgy, Mark your calendar when they announce 'Fan Appreciation Day' toward the end of summer practice. After watching the last hour or so of practice, the players hang around and give autographs, pose for pictures, etc. They also have schedule posters there and the players who are on the posters (usually star seniors) are at tables so you can have them sign it. ET's picture with Coach Leavitt was taken at the last one, if I'm not mistaken. CJL will stay there until the last person gets something signed, if they want it. This might be a great roadtrip for your group before the season starts.
  7. Pirates win 11-1. Lirette gives up 6 runs in the first (also, one fielding error) and it was downhill from there. Yikes... let's hope we salvage a game tomorrow. Go Bulls!
  8. I suppose the question is whether our offense was really that bad or was it our defense that made them look that way. I'm sure the defense was a major factor in the problems the offense had moving the ball, but all of the dropped passes can be blamed on 'footsteps'. Another factor to consider is that the QBs were considered down when touched. And let me say that the whistles were quick! As a result, the QBs were forced to make up a ton of yardage due to 'sacks' that could have been easily not been in a real game. Also, punts were not returned, so the advantage was definately to the team kicking the ball. As alluded to above, the punts were long and high for the most part, but a few were very returnable and would have set the offense up much better. Just in case it wasn't mentioned anywhere, the offense was still no-huddle.
  9. Banks had an impressive drive to start the 4th quarter, that, if he played like that consistently, would make him the lock starter.  However, he was not consistent and got the same old 'happy feet' that spelled problems last season.  Julmiste played pretty well, but all QBs had the unfortunate task of throwing to receivers who dropped balls that hit them in the hands.  Joe Bain had some horrible drops, something yhou wouldn't expect for someone with his experience. Kraky looked pretty poised but seemed rushed..  He also didn't have the 'zip' on the ball that RB and PJ had.  He scrambled well and has excellent speed. Another part of the problem for the QBs was the defense, who, in my opinion was not hurt at all by graduation and actually looks better than last year!  The linebackers moved to plug holes quickly and Stephen Nicholas had a nice pick to seal it for the green team.  The DBs were flying to the ball and dropped some sure picks.  They disrupted patterns and layed some hellatious licks. I'm anxious to see the new recruits this summer to see if the offense begin to click.
  10. We should take game three tomorrow. I believe Ellis is back on the mound.
  11. You have to pay a fee to upgrade if you're old tag is not due for a replacement when it's up for renewal. Likewise if you are trading for the new one mid-year. If you old plate was a vanity plate, you will have to order it, probably for an additional charge, too. Otherwise, you'll just get whatever they have on hand.
  12. For you out-of-towners, it looks like there's going to be live radio for the Spring game on Saturday! http://broadcastmonsters.com/Southflorida/Football/usf041004.asx For those in town... be there!
  13. Actually, I'm the one to blame as I did a caption on that picture poking fun at ourselves on the whole paternity thing. Since they have no original thought, an obsession and, I suppose, it makes them feel better about themselves, KL started a caption contest with the same picture on their Rivals site. A few had the right spirit and were funny, most not.
  14. I agree, but I haven't been able to get "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina" out of my head since I saw it.
  15. I think the most entertaining thing would be the reaction of the Gator nation. I'd love to see this rumor get some legs and get some media attention. That would be fun, wouldn't it? "Unamed sources" say Spurrier to take USF assistant HC position. Attended team practice this week.... Love it..
  16. My OC comments were purely tongue-in-cheek, but who knows... He has ties in this area, probably doesn't need the money he could demand and it would give him more time for golf than going back to a HC job somewhere. Ego conflicts aside, it's a fun 'what if' scenario, however unlikely it is. Having SS as assistant HC/Offense and CJL as HC and being able to concentrate on the D would be very intriguing, to say the least.
  17. My wife graduated from UF in 81 and during those days there was no endzone seating and she said that the stadium was only 3/4 full, if that. Of course, those were the Doug Dickey/pre-Spurrier days when losses were plentiful.
  18. I think it's because Jax is within driving distance of some very big college football states (GA, SC, AL, TN), in addition to the fans in this state. I've been to several Gator Bowls and, despite whether there is a FL team or not, it's always full or nearly so. That's the main reason the NFL came to town.
  19. I think they just wanted to drum up support on that side of the bay.
  20. Actually, the saying is that is is best served cold.
  21. They should have had the rally later in the day, just before or right after the Rays game. It looks like another sellout at the Trop.
  22. OK!  Show of hands if one of our players fathered your child!  I especially expect to see you and the kids at the Spring Game! Go Bulls! (Sorry...couldn't resist)   Pep Rally Photos: http://gobulls.usf.edu/Releases/athletics/2004/04/07/20040407.htm
