  1. As I mentioned upthread, I won't be able to be there when you guys get started, but we'll head over there later. If nothing else, I'll see if there's room for us to be added in after some folks have left. USFFan
  2. They're up 14 late in the game at 'Nova. They were down 2 at the half before going on something like a 21-3 run to start the second half... USFFan
  3. Pathetic.  Exactly what I authored in another thread.  You've become a victim of your own big mouth.  You want failure so bad you can't handle a win.  We'd have to beat Duke 9 out of 10 for you to go away. I can think of another way that only you control... Seriously, hasn't he qualified for the "stuck button" intervention by now? He's ******** about a basketball team that is still 5-1 at this point... USFFan
  4. Nevermind, I just saw the time in another thread. Our plane isn't scheduled to land until 6 pm, and we'll be waiting with all of our bags for Christmas (Birmingham is an extended layover on the way to Tampa). Looks like I'll have to miss out or at least see you guys at the tail end of the gathering. We probably won't be able to get there until 8ish. USFFan
  5. I sure hope our team is thinking about them. If the team plays with the attitude of most of our posters, it could be a long game. Folks, we are NOT good enough to think we can just show up and beat anybody. That attitude **** near cost us against FIU - a team that didn't win a game all season. USFFan
  6. There are a couple of "predict the game" type of sites. Here's one: http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/story?page=nationvsschwab06 As of last count, USF was receiving 79% of the vote. Here's another: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5793512/ USF appears to have about 2/3 of the vote there. I'm sure there are others, but it would appear that the general feeling is that we should win... 7. We don't arrive until kind of late on Friday, but we're definitely planning to head to Dreamland once we're checked into the hotel. I'm thinking of trying UABinBHM's suggestion for Saturday night before we head back to Tampa. USFFan
  8. Any chance they'll do the signed ticket thing again? I still have mine from Charlotte proudly displayed in my office... USFFan
  9. > It's pathetic the Rich Rodriguez, Greg Schiano, Bobby Petrino nor Randy Edsall could see fit to give USF a single vote at #25. We also beat John Bunting and George O'Leary (no surprise that he wouldn't throw us a bone at #25). Considering Maryland (8-4) and South Carolina (7-5) are getting votes and neither beat a team as high as #12 West Virginia, it's not like it's far fetched, either. USFFan
  10. Cincinnati announced they've accepted a bid to the International Bowl. http://gobearcats.cstv.com/ USFFan
  11. That's the Rose Bowl, though. USF would be going somewhere two days before Christmas in a third-rate bowl in a fourth-rate stadium against a fifth-rate team. Like we have EVER proven that we have the right to look down our noses at any bowl game. Sorry, but that's a piss-poor snobby attitude to have - especially since we've never won a trophy in football in our history. Sometimes it's pathetic and embarrassing to hear some Bulls fans. I know you're a true fan and you're not the only person who has made comments like this, but we are in no position to be turning our noses up at any bowl game. USFFan
  12. Don't forget Notre Dame. They're part of the Big East's bowl picture. The only way we have a shot at Texas is if Rutgers, Louisville AND Notre Dame ALL go to the BCS. That would require one of Michigan, Boise State or LSU to be left out. USFFan
  13. The Gator Bowl has already announced that they'll invite the loser of the ACC championship game.  It'd be WVU vs. Georgia Tech (presuming WVU beats Rutgers) in Jacksonville.  They'll need WVU's big crowd there.  That game has disaster written all over it from the Gator's perspective... http://www.charleston.net/assets/webPages/departmental/news/Stories.aspx?section=sports&tableId=120767&pubDate=11/30/2006 USFFan
  14. Does anybody know if there are efforts in place to bring a bunch of students to the game? I'd really like to see a big, concerted effort to make sure we get a large group of fans to the game. It could pay off big later on (future season ticket holders, plus demonstrate to the bowls that we will indeed travel)... USFFan
  15. It might be fascinating, but it's EXTREMELY unlikely. The only way USF goes to Houston would be if Louisville AND Notre Dame both receive at large BCS bids. Since Michigan and Boise State have already locked up the other two bids, that means that both would have to be taken over LSU USFFan
  16. Kyle, that is just a rumor that a guy named River City Pirate posted. How reliable is this guy normally? Since the Big East works together with both the International Bowl AND the PapaJohns.com Bowl on placing their selections, I have trouble imagining that they'd send Cincinnati to Birmingham and ship us all the way up to Toronto. USFFan
  17. I'm all booked for Birmingham (thanks for the help, swatpamike!), but while I was looking, I noticed that a viable alternative other than Atlanta would be Nashville. There are 3 non-stops a day going back to Tampa, and it's about a 3 hour drive (a little further, but not too much further, than Atlanta). Food for thought... USFFan
  18. I think it's time for you to give up the ghost, man. Boise State, Notre Dame and Michigan have already pretty much locked up BCS bids. That last at large bid would come down to LSU or Louisville (if Rutgers were to win). It's extremely unlikely that Louisville would make it high enough into the BCS standings to automatically qualify. It's time to embrace the idea of going to Birmingham... USFFan
  19. According to this article, they've already been invited. http://www.reflector.com/sports/content/sports/ecu/stories/2006/11/26/ecu_ncstate_gamer.html USFFan
  20. The Liberty Bowl gets the first selection from Conference USA and not necessarily the winner of the CUSA championship game. If you remember from last year, the Liberty Bowl was planning to take UTEP if UCF had won the championship. That said, I don't think there's anybody that the Liberty Bowl is eying over Sufferin Myth. USFFan
  21. Yup.  Part of it is finishing tied for 4th place.  Part of it is how poorly USF travels.  (Although I think the win will actually mean more people will travel than were planning on it before.) Personally, I'm still happy to be going to a bowl game. I think most people seem to forget that a Rutgers win next week means that USF finishes tied for 3rd place in the Big East... USFFan
  22. Nice to see a writer suggesting that USF was involved in Hernol Hall not being able to play for Cincinnati.  http://www.sportsline.com/columns/weblogs/entry/doyels_dribbles If the guy knows something, he should say it or shut his mouth.  Hinting that we did something here without actually telling what it is we did is pretty crappy. USFFan
  23. Green Bay didn't in either 1923 or 1929, which is why I included those links.
  24. From a cost and convenience standpoint, I'd prefer Birmingham. In fact, I've already booked tickets for myself and my family on Southwest's flight back to Tampa on 12/23 before they sell out (you can get full credit if you don't use the tickets on another Southwest flight). Also, the Birmingham Bowl is on an ESPN channel, while the Texas Bowl will be on the NFL Network. I'd rather the game be seen on a network that's in most households. The only thing I prefer about the Texas Bowl is the prospects of playing another BCS opponent. USFFan
  25. Umm... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1929_NFL_season http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1923_NFL_season The Bears had a couple of undefeated seasons also, but lost in the NFL championship game ON THE ROAD at Washington. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1942_NFL_season Before you go on about how that's all ancient history, it was 30 years between Chicago's undefeated season and the Dolphins perfect season in 1972. It's been 34 years since that season. USFFan
