  1. This thing is a lot like buying something on EBay. If you want to win, you have to make your push right at the end. That end is now. Heather's something like 27,000 votes down. If a bunch of USF fans started voting now and kept on voting, you could put her over the top by closing time. If we'd been voting all along, it would have just created more work at the end. However, if anybody is really interested in trying to get Heather into the next round, now is the time to vote as often as you can... USFFan
  2. I've seen the Jim Leavitt show on DirecTV for at least the last month. McCullum's show makes it on there, too. If you have TiVo, the easiest way to track all of these things is to create a WishList with SOUTH FLORIDA and sports and you'll find them. That said, I don't know if there was a show this week because of the bye. It would have aired today, and I'll see when I get home tonight. USFFan
  3. Certainly wasn't earned by their football team was it?  What is their claim to fame other than being around longer. Bill Russell?  Anything else? FYI, three members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame (Ollie Matson, Bob St. Clair and Gino Marchetti) played college football at the University of San Francisco. Pete Rozelle is also an alumnus. It's going to be a long time before we would be able to claim four alumni in the Hall of Fame. But yes, their basketball team is more what they're known for. Three national championships, and don't forget K.C. Jones is an alumnus along with Bill Russell. USFFan
  4. It's common knowledge that few people go into academia for the pay. They all know that going into the job. Therefore to have somebody bellyache about it after the fact is silly. Hey, Josh! If you're looking for a high salary, go study engineering or business! The rewards of being a professor are considerable, but they're not often financial. This is such a well worn argument that I'm shocked that it's still being debated in a college newspaper. "Why do we pay professional athletes and entertainers more than school teachers and policemen?" I think it's a subject most high school newspapers tackle. USFFan
  5. 39,000 posts of insubstantial ********.  It's like the old Wendy's commercial - "Where's the beef?" Incidentally, "newbie" is short for newcomer. I've been a registered member of this board for going on 5 years. I just don't have the hours to take away from my pretend law practice to post 40,000 times. USFFan
  6. YOU HAVE DEMONSTRATED TOO ME YOU DONT KNOW THE GAME OR THE OPPONENT SORRY YOU CANT SEPARATE THE DECISION TO GO FOR IT AND THE PLAY.THEY GO HAND IN HAND.IF YOU DONT HAVE A PLAY TO GAIN NECESSARY YARDAGE THAN YOU KICK THE FILED GOAL, YOU are obviously another newbie so i will go easy on you MANGINO IS AN OFFENSIVE WHIZ AS HE DEMONSTRATED BY PUTTING UP ENOUGH POINTS TOO WIN And YOU have demonstrated to ME that you are an arrogant blowhard. First off, your opinion that this was a bad decision is just that, an opinion. It is no more or less valid than mine. To call into question whether I know what I'm talking about (despite having played football through high school and coached football for going on 10 years) for expressing that opinion is silly. Since I have been posting on this and other USF boards long enough to have interacted with you dozens of times (and never learning my lesson to just ignore you) demonstrates that all you do is write grammatically incorrect posts without ever reading what anybody else has to say. I've got news, Steve. Just because you post 10,000 times does NOT make you any kind of authority on sports or anything else. Furthermore, just because you give money to the university does not give you any more credence in your incessant whining about any and every thing that our alma mater does. And just because you brag about things on the internet does not mean that 99% of the crap that you post is really true. I'm sorry that I tried once again to respond to one of your posts. I'll probably go another year or so of trying to ignore you before you break me down again. USFFan
  7. Although this won't sit well with smazza's "Jim Leavitt is a horrible coach and I'm an expert on football coaching" mentality, USF going for it on 4th and down at the 3 yard line was a worthwhile gamble.  Defense is SUPPOSED to be our strength and offense Kansas' weakness, so even if we hadn't gotten the first down, we had every expectation that we would be getting the ball back in good field position.  Given the bad angle on those short kicks and the fact that any FG for USF right now isn't a chip shot and it was a worthwhile gamble.  The play call absolutely sucked, but the decision to go for it wasn't as bad.  The fact that the defense then allowed Kansas to convert a 3rd and 6 from the 6 yard line (foreshadowing a bunch of converted 3rd and longs) was what hurt us there.  I also don't see anybody pissing and moaning about Grothe's horrible decision to throw that pass at the end of the half.  If he throws that ball away we are still in FG range to score with 8 seconds left.  USFFan
  8. A little game awareness would help, though. At one point when we had the ball and were going for a key 3rd down they were raising up their "make some noise!" signs... USFFan
  9. The seats were especially bad down low. At halftime I moved up about 40 rows and you could see much better. USFFan
  10. I'll be there. I haven't decided yet if I'll go to the AA tailgate. Since I'm only flying in Saturday morning and then home again on Sunday morning, I might see a little of Kansas City before I head over to Lawrence and even try some KC barbecue... USFFan
  11. Thanks, Brad. There seems to be some glitch in the YaBBC software that causes entire threads to die when a member becomes an "ex-member." There was a thread right before the hacking that was killed in the same manner. It was something about supporting the cheerleaders. Thanks again, USFFan
  12. just because some "ex-member" decides to pollute a thread? I was looking forward to reading some more thoughts on the Indiana and Michigan State games, but now apparently two different threads have been killed. The other option is - can we start publicizing who the actual culprits are (name, address, other personal info) so that they can't hide behind their anonymity if they break the rules? > USFFan
  13. I've got my plane tickets but will probably be sitting with my boss who's a KU alum... :-[ USFFan
  14. Brad, I just read how you handled this very thing in the "Grass is Greener" thread. Thank you very much! I seriously love how you handled that, and it was a textbook example of exactly what you've been saying in this thread. USFFanh
  15. By doing exactly what Woolard did and convince/allow him to resign rather than be fired. USFFan
  16. Not to mention that the article is over 2 months old. CFN has very rarely had nice things to say about USF. USFFan
  17. As somebody (Cyber?) pointed out, this is a man who has given over 23 years of service to the university. While I have been an outspoken critic of Cardieri and his apparent lack of motivation, I also appreciate the time, dedication and loyalty he's shown to USF over the past quarter century. I think that Woolard needs to move in a different direction, but I sure hope that he does it in a respectful way. USFFan
  18. Why in the name of God hasn't this thread been moved to the UCF/USF pissing board? USFFan
  19. It's like I'm talking to a wall. Didn't we just cover that the AD doesn't schedule those conference games and that USF can't control the conference component of their schedule? Feel free to keep arguing your point, because I think I've refuted it well enough... USFFan
  20. Because we're trying to spread out the tougher games so that we avoid seasons like this one, which seems to be your biggest problem. If we played both Miami and Fl*rida in 2009, we'd have a relatively weaker schedule in 2010. Now we play one major team every season through 2013. Honestly, I think you're ******** about all of this just to hear yourself ***** about it. I personally think Woolard did a smart thing in moving that game, and I'm much happier with him looking into scheduling 1 for 1's with other BCS schools than taking lopsided games with stronger opponents. USFFan
  21. 2006 Auburn non-conference schedule - Washington State, Buffalo, Tulane and Arkansas State (all at home) 2005 Auburn non-conference schedule - Georgia Tech, Ball State and Western Kentucky (all at home) Wow, I'm blown away. None of those schedules compares with @ Penn State, @ Miami, UCF and FAMU, which was USF's schedule just this past season. USFFan
  22. This thread is about SMAZZA ripping Woolard for the fact that Woolard scheduled too softly. I just showed you that the AD's only job is to schedule non-conference games, since the conference schedules the rest. Seems to me I'm pretty much spot-on with respect to the point. Rather, you are the one who is whining about USF not scheduling a strong enough schedule, when the point has been made that USF's ability to play in a BCS game has nothing whatsoever to do with our strength of schedule and the only thing that WOULD be affected by it would be USF's ability to play in a national championship game. Ergo, whining about our schedule being too soft is tantamount to whining that USF needs to win a national championship or bust. USFFan
  23. So now you're pissed off that we're not in the SEC? The USF athletic director doesn't schedule conference games, only non-conference games. Seems to me that Woolard did a better job of scheduling those non-conference games than Auburn's AD did in 2004. Right now, USF is guaranteed a BCS bid if they win the Big East conference, which has to be Leavitt and Woolard's #1 goal. Once we show we can do that regularly, then and only then will we be in a position to schedule with a national championship in mind. USFFan
  24. This is a program that has played 100 games total in our history. While I think all of us have aspirations of trying to win national championships, we also have to recognize that it won't happen overnight. No program has gotten to a bowl game faster than us in the last half century, and yet it's amazing how even THAT isn't apparently good enough for a bunch of our "fans." If we continue to build our program and show recruits that we have a legitimate chance of playing in BCS bowls, we'll start getting the top tier players. After a few years of that, THEN we'll have a legitimate reason to start playing brutal schedules. USFFan
