No - this mindset is what the powers that be hope you believe.  Thinking this way only perpetuates the problem.  We are needed for the simple ruse of not being excluded, but we are already excluded and if one does not think so, then the powers that be have done their job.

Oppression comes in various forms, sitting back and saying things like "it could be worse," or "be grateful for what you have," or "don't say anything or the master will get mad." never changes anything.

I don’t think we are being oppressed. I think the blueprint has been simple from the beginning.  The power five wanted autonomy. They settled with creating a system that forced G5 teams to play them in order to get a shot. That does give them a lot of power in scheduling. In the end I believe the P5 is much closer to breaking off than they are to expanding so it is what it is. The G5 is in a lose lose situation and we all agreed to it.

  2. From their wiki page.

The No. 12 ranked Knights faced No. 7 ranked Auburn, and defeated them 34–27 to close out their undefeated season with a 13–0 record. After the win, UCF athletic director Danny White proclaimed UCF to be the NCAA FBS Division Football national champion. The claim sparked considerable controversy and debate over whether the College Football Playoff should be expanded.

What are we calling considerable? From what I can tell, most analysts just gave this one thirty minute segment (if that), decided that this would have no weight in the expansion discussion and moved on.

Its like they are reaching for apples to make this seem like a good idea.

  3. A little disrespectful in my eyes, I would have us at least in the top three

The article also announces a few preseason All- Conference selections.

Redshirt sophomore LHP Shane McClanahan, senior RHP Peter Strzelecki and OF Duke Stunkel Jr, were all named to the AAC preseason all-conference team.

    Here's to exceeding expectations.

Also, apologies if this has already been posted. I know the article is a little dated.

    Loser mentality.

If you want to add requirements that schools must meet to qualify for D1A status, that is fine.  A requirement cant be, you must belong to my conference and there are no more seats at the table.

It’s not a loser mentality, it’s what you signed up for. Take it or leave because the system doesn’t need any of the G5. If you want a chance at a seat in the playoffs, you have to schedule a team better than Maryland and schedule two of them. If that can’t happen, call them out about that. You can’t just pretend to be something you’re not. It just makes the G5 look like a joke.

  5. I don’t understand why we should cheer this as an attack to the system. All G5 schools agreed to this. If you hate the way things are with CFP, you should have been advocating for your school to find a good D1AA conference to switch to before the change to the playoff.

We shouldn’t be attacking the system. There’s not enough money or interest for the G5 to win that battle.  We should be finding a way to be valuable to those in the system. That way they might be inclined to include us. Otherwise let’s just create another Division and be done with it.

  6. If you have to claim it, it’s not real.

Also UCF’s resume would not equal the eventual champions. They will have beaten two of the top four teams in the nation in consecutive weeks. Who got a chance for to play those games is irrelevant

Sorry, but claiming this title will just craft more separation. The power five can say “ you’re right you should be a national champion, the G5 should have their own”. Just call them out on the field and call it a day.

What I'm saying is I'd take 2016 defense over 2017 defense any day. Looking at stats only will get you trouble every time, you can't play madden on easy and put up huge numbers and boast about how good you are.

    It doesn't work like that.

The differene b/w the 2017 and 2016 defenxe is that this defense actually stops the bad teams. The 2016 defense couldnt even stop the bad teams

Yeah, I don't think you need stats to realize that we were better this season than last. Our DL was much more disruptive, Augie was much better in coverage. And we were much better at taking the the football away. I don't have to time break down film for you but , a lot  those Ints were scheme created

It's more like the people that do care about USF are insulted because he writes the truth rather than USF marketing.

There a lot of flaws in an argument that's based on journalists telling the "truth".  Not saying that he's lying, but he probably doesn't know the entire truth of what happened at those schools or the reasons why they chose who they chose.

Went to USF practice the other day. The Bulls were preparing for a return to the Birmingham Bowl, where Saturday they will meet Texas Tech. I think I’ll start my watch party with pigs in a blanket.

Anyway, the Bulls are getting ready. So is their head coach.

    Charlie Strong.

"A lot of coaches have left," USF sophomore receiver Darnell Salomon said. "I’m glad he’s staying with us."

It turns out that Strong wasn’t one-and-done after coaching the Bulls to a 9-2 season. It wasn’t altogether his choice. Maybe too many schools said too old, too defense, too Texas toast.

Frankly, I think it’s ridiculous that this trained professional did not have a new seat when the music stopped. I mean, Florida didn’t so much as phone Charlie. Tennessee did everything but hold a séance to gauge General Neyland’s interest. Florida State blew right by Strong on its way to Willie Taggart, who Strong replaced at USF. Sorry, Charlie.

"I’m not bitter," Strong said. "I have a great job and we have a vision of where we want to be."

Why write this at all. It does nothing for the article and just serves to put us down.

This to the bank. The defense didn't improve don't let the stats fool you. We had a supreme talent advantage in just about every game we played, making it LOOK like it improved. But in crunch against teams we knew could match us with athletes. We sucked it up and played some awful defense.

So you are saying that last season we were over matched athletically?

Coming into the season, QF was an established, talented quarterback in a high scoring offense.  If things went wrong, the coaches and offensive play calling could be blamed.

That's fine and dandy, but every coaching still wants their guy, to run their offense. Q is great, but there are a lot of systems that he can't run, an offense has to be adjusted to fit his mold. If strong believed that Flowers was the type of QB to run his offense, he would have offered him as a QB in high school. i'm not saying Q is bad and they should have started someone else, just that they are probably a little happy about the idea of getting their guy in their system. To be honest they probably really like O and have spent a ton of time developing him to run their system. they didn't have that kind of time with Q. Just had to role with it.
