  1. Frost recruited extremely well, and Heupel kind of just seems to be riding off of that momentum. Where Heupel was smart is that it seems as if he did very little to change the system they had going. I could be wrong with that but their offense seemed similar during the transition and their defense stayed pretty solid.
  2. that’s gold. I don’t really take these things that serious, but sometimes I’ll stick by something and just keep going lol. You 100% backed up what you were saying with facts. But I do think a lot more plays into this than Strong not being a great coach. I think that’s a knee jerk reaction that I’ve been guilty of as well but I mean what I say when I mention consistency. I’m curious to see what this program will look like next year.
  3. Calm down. I literally read one comment and had no idea what I was talking about, I just spewed something out. Kind of like I just did with BryBull and defense. I think by eye test we have one of top defenses at least in our conference, but certainly not statistic wise in the nation. You could have been talking about a completely different sport and I would have said the same exact thing because I didn’t read past the conversation other than what I commented on.
  4. You literally said “not getting hardware is underperforming.” but let me rephrase that because I misspoke. Unsuccessful was the wrong choice of word, I should have said underperformed.
  5. False. I’m using total defense. https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/22 And sure, hypothetical but logical point about playing a harder schedule, but what about the teams with better resources than us that are performing a lot worse? One thing that very few people want to acknowledge on here is consistency. Strong has had a good defense for most of his time at USF. He’s also had the same coordinator during his entire time here. Offense? A lot of them are on their 3rd coordinator in 4 years. Most of the ones starting now had to learn two systems in less than a year. Yet many expect our offense to be putting up massive numbers right away.
  6. “On any topic” lol at least you’re a mastermind with it. Just like the fact that you were completely wrong with a number as well. They’re top 50 and one of the top in our conference. There are more than 47 teams in the p5 yet with our limited resources we’re still able to outperform some of them.
  7. I’m seeing that. There were plenty of people that wanted Taggart gone after 2 season and low and behold, a lot of those people are begging for him back. Funny how that works.
  8. Tied for 47* and 3rd in our conference. That’s with the Wisconsin game factored in. If you can’t see that this defense has improved under Strong’s time here then take off the blinders.
  9. Ah yes, perfect. Thank you for pointing this out. So then it should go without saying that we can’t just throw away coaches at the disposal of some of these big schools, and that means we actually might have to give coaches more than 2 or 3 years every time we don’t see the results we want.
  10. Cronkrite, Sails, Macon, Roberts, Joiner Jr., RSF, Sanders, Barnett (who was inconsistent, but still solid for how little he actually played in college and lack of an offensive line) etc. Let’s also not forget that we have one of the top defenses in the nation right now. I’m sure those are all Taggart’s guys, though, right?
  11. Some of you mention that Strong underperformed. Couldn’t the same be said for Willie’s final season here?
  12. Georgia Tech is the only gimme on here. We should have won all 3 like you said but the ones who have already made yo their mind suggested we had no chance in the others. I specifically remember seeing someone say they don’t see a scenario where we beat Cincy, yet it took them them 59 minutes to get a lead against us. I’ve been on and off the Strong train so many times this season but our defense is the best it’s been in a really long time, and I’m terrified that’s all going to get wiped away.
  13. People want to rag on Strong for not having a QB named Flowers or Bridgewater, yet some quickly forget Taggart did literally the same exact thing, if not worse. Strong brought in a QB last year that was able to get us bowl eligible. Taggart was never even close to that with someone not named QF. And if you want to blame it on “Taggart not having anyone to work with,” go ahead and look at Mike White’s stats, our 2 year starter before Flowers, AFTER he left USF.
  14. I’m confused on to how you think USF should have one this game easily? Every single thing suggested that Cincy should have won going into this. But I’m glad you guys got your way.
  15. Lol so the fact that we’re not up by multiple scores against them is reason to be mad? I guess every team that’s contended for an upset should feel that way.
  16. Ok, but should I not be satisfied that with the season we’ve had we’re taking a top 20 team down to the wire? Keep in mind our original starting QB has been out most of this season.
  17. You guys want our team to be perfect, and I get it, but you have no idea how to give credit when improvement is shown and that’s a bit frustrating.
  18. Lol and yet the 17th ranked team in the nation hasn’t yet led in this game with 8 minutes remaining. Sounds reasonable.
  19. Yes, much like every person that has said it’s been Strong’s fault for every player that’s been suspended or has left the team.
  20. 49 yard gain from a perfect throw but we’re going to roll with the conspiracies, right? As well as his TD pass, right? I’m going to stand by my initial comments of saying this is a system the kids are getting used to, as well as a freshman QB who has been hurt this season.
  21. So is Barnett not banged up, too? Or Evans who is out under concussion protocol? No, it’s not easy to say your freshman QB is hurt, unless he actually is... so you’re saying we’re tanking intentionally then?
  22. And that’s why I said he’s proving otherwise. He’s also been hurt at parts of the season and that could have easily played a part in a freshman QB’s ability to get comfortable.
  23. I’d say we’re running a system that takes time to show progress. All of the “McCloud can’t throw” people are silent while he makes throws. Granted I didn’t think he was that great but now he’s proving otherwise. Our defense has consistently shown that they’re improving, under a defensive minded coach nonetheless. We’re playing good ball against a good team tonight, and let’s hope that continues.
