Look at the bright side.  This should make them less of a candidate for a P5 promotion.

Not that they ever really were.

And just as an FYI, ECU's total Athletics revenue is a little higher that ours, with their combined Ticket Sales and Contributions around three times higher, as of 2018.

It is almost as if the business model of being P6 is a path towards being insolvent. Who could have ever guessed that having to spend like you are P5 while making much closer to G5 money isn't something with sustainability?

ECU also has pretty decent fan support for football games. But this is a much larger issue.

That’s a decent point. Even with good football attendance they are struggling. I heard that they over expanded Their athletic programs not too long ago. Acceptance rate to that place is 80%...I wonder if their enrollment dipped as well?

Well, based on the statement from one USF employee that "Our fanbase f*cking sucks" I would suspect that our Athletic Department isn't going to get bailed out, and some sports may have to go on a hiatus.

At the end of the day most only care about FB and MBB, shut down the rest of the men’s sports and maybe we can satisfy the title IX requirement while we save some cash, not ideal but may be necessary.

This is especially true with some of the Athletic palaces that are out there at schools like Alabama, Clemson, Oregon - even among the Pee-5 there is a hierarchy

This would kind of defeat the whole point of intercollegiate athletics - I was lucky enough to be a D1 scholarship athlete in crew and the skills that I developed on the water (goal setting, teamwork, coachability, mental toughness, self confidence, determination, perseverance) have contributed to my success in life significantly more than anything I learned in the classroom

You can slash all of it except FB, MBB, WBB, WS,  and WT&F. Increase scholarships in T&F and we probably meet Title 9. I bet ECU does something similar to this.

I am not saying college athletes don’t benefit from playing these sports but if they don’t generate revenue or build name recognition for the school than they probably need to disappear, college is expensive enough as it is.  You can always develop those same skills in HS sports, military, clubs in college, work etc...
