sacks aren't the only stat to look at, but i think a good way to judge how our OLine did is look at what happened against teams with above average to good defenses (USC for example)... we couldn't do anything against them.  Everything compounded on us for that game... horrible QB play, lack of a run game because of teh qb play and oline... I think we'll be much better this year, but not because of much of a change in the OLine, just because we should have improved QB play.

I'll defer on o-line expertise to anyone who wants to claim it.  I just say what I see, with an untrained eye.

sacks, yards per carry, time to throw, blocked kicks....in every area our OL played very well last year.

They only surrendered 1 sack, and averaged 4.8 ypc against USC.  It wasn't the OL that lost us that game!  It was QB play, and the defense.

Your Oline won't be as bad as UCF's was last year, that is about impossible considering the youth that UCF had to go with last year.  That being said, I just can't understand why you think your QB play will improve.  No one is doubting that talent level is higher, but you are putting stock in kids that have never played a down of college football.  One thing is for sure, your Oline will not be as good as last year, put that with a QB that has never played and you have a receipe for disaster.  If Hall can get good yardage on his first down carries, USF should be okay, but if the Oline doesn't open up wholes for him, QB is a sitting target.

We shall see, but undoubtedly our success will largely rest on the shoulders of whomever plays QB.  The OL will be fine as the three returning starters were some of the most consistent performers last year.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
