Downvoting/Upvoting Etiquette

Mods I hope you don't move this right away as it could help establish norms for what I assume to be the most active sub-forum.

I have noticed the recent use of downvoting in a manner I would deem as atypical. Here is a more standard protocol of voting from reddit which better suites the intent of such a function:

Vote. If you think something contributes to the conversation, upvote it. If you think it does not contribute to the subreddit (topic) it is posted in or is off-topic in a particular community, downvote it.

Note, it does not say to downvote bc you disagree w/someone. 

There are some other useful general guidelines lines which I would encourage many to read. Maybe we can define our own norms on TBP but this seems like a good starting point. Thoughts?

If you want up votes, just ***** about Doug Woolard and talk about how you always knew CWT was going to be successful. Double votes if you knew QF was going to have the season he had last year.

 

If you want down votes, say something about how you thought Skip was a good hire when it was announced.

I have no issues with how things are voted on today (so I guess I disagree).  I think all your down votes we received in jest so I gave you some up vote love for trying to improve etiquette on the internet. 

I think you should spend more time trying to impress Dulcinea.  I think she might coming around.

While we're all enjoying ourselves in here this morning blowing up Bull-Hornz with down votes...I caught a glimpse of the donation section on the main page and remembered this place doesn't run itself. Toss Brad a few bones if you can. He's not going to ask you himself.
