  1. Completely my own assumption here, but I feel if Leavitt lands at FSU, we'd have a better chance at scheduling FSU in the future. With Ca$h by himself, no way. I'd be shocked.
  2. Here's the thing. I'm sure Strong is a pretty good coach (track record), but he has to do it his way; he's not into picking up where somebody else left off, as we Bulls can testify to after what happened this year. We still don't know what he can do at USF to improve us yet. Too soon to tell. Now, if he had gone undefeated and landed us in the peach bowl, do you think he would have gotten more attention than he is right now?
  3. Good point. Ask T.J. Weist what happens after the bowl game...
  4. Q: Who does Oregon go after now? I can't see them keeping Mario Cristobal as the permanent head coach. Will they look our way?
  5. If some years ago you told me that both them would end up at FSU one day, I'd say, "When pigs fly!" Well, it's flying now!
  6. I'm such a loser, but I love to read forums when a school loses their coach with USF connections. This one has me in stitches from an Oregon fan.
  7. He's rebuilt programs and recruited well -has a really good eye for talent. And he's had some good people around him. But now he's playing with big money and bigger demands. Getting to a bowl is not even close enough.
  8. Didn't you read the press story that he isn't going anywhere? He was probably recruiting and wanted to drop by to say hello.
  9. I hated the Ducks. But if they hire Leavitt, I'll start following them. Jim needs to stay away from Ca$h and FSU.
  10. I wonder what catch phrase he's going to come up with for FSU.
  11. Okay, play along... If you are running FSU, would you want Strong or Taggart (Ca$h) for your coach? Give me Strong. Yes, I know what I've been saying about him... But going with Taggart is a huge risk; the man hasn't won a thing. He could bring down that FSU empire...
  12. Oh, man, what are they thinking? First of all, does he even know about all the NCAA rules? Welcome to Violation Poolapalooza! And what about recruiting and all of that? This is almost as comical is Tennessee.
  13. If Ca$h goes to FSU, I hope he makes Woodie the defensive coordinator; Woodie deserves another chance at FSU.
  14. Ain't that the truth! At first, I was upset about how our team played this year. But when ucf won the American CC game and then lost their coach not five minutes after the game, the cold truth about this conference hit me.
  15. I found myself being rather negative of late, so I'm flipping the switch on myself. Here goes! (1) Stability: I think when it's all said and done, this season will be more stable than last season without the coaching changes. This is good for the program (2) Financially: I think money-wise, USF made out pretty good because if Texas, and because of the conference distributions -no matter what team goes where for bowls. (3) P5 improvements: I think being ranked this year, getting a lot of press, and playing a good game with ucf on national TV helped our P5 cause down the road. (4) Flowers: He got to showcase his stuff during the ucf game. I'm so happy for him. The NFL will definitely look at him more closely after that performance (for whatever position in the NFL). (5) Winning record and bowl game: can't sneeze at that. We had neither for a while there. And it's not like we are playing FAU or something. A P5 school is a good game for us. And the seniors can be proud of their accomplishments and enjoy their bowl trip. (6) Recruiting: With coaching stability, the recruiting will be solid.
  16. Peach bowl: $4 million per conference plus additional $2 million for team expenses Birmingham bowl: $1,950,000
  17. 10. How do bowl game payouts work? Bowls pay conferences, and then conferences divvy them up among member schools. Each game hands out six- or seven-figure payments. Short rule of thumb, with exceptions: The closer to the title game it is, the more money it likely pays out. https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2017/12/2/16635432/how-many-bowl-games-work-payouts-playoff-history-determined
  18. I had always thought the conference is the purse holder. Is this true? If correct, what I'm getting at here is that it doesn't matter which team goes to the Jan. 1st bowl, the money is divided equally.
  19. Can we pin this to the top to save all the trouble of bumping it?
  20. Nobody outside of the p5 wins. I don't know who's better, ucf or us. I mean had we won that game, we'd be in their shoes (conference title opportunity), and Strong might be getting more attention (speculation on my part). I mean you get some national recognition and then your coach is gone. Meanwhile, the university tries to come up with the cash to pay for skyrocketing prices on good coaches. As for coaches and money, the days of loyalty are gone -loyalty to the cash is more like it. Can't blame them, though. Oregon: how do you like them apples?! My stomach is going to turn big time if both ca$h and Leavitt end up at FSU. What's this world turning into?! Will pigs fly now? As for USF, I suppose the jury is still out on Strong (and his coaching style). His system can work, I suppose, but he could have been a little more flexible and won us a few more games this year. Oh, well... He stays or go, doesn't matter to me. I'm trying to get over a "What could have been year" for USF. Right now, my question is this: What has Strong and the Texas staff brought us so far? NOTHING. That's my answer and I'll stand by that. Next year? Maybe. I'm still pretty mad about this year. Maybe the long summer will help. Yes, Texas paid for most it. That helps a little bit to ease the bitterness. Salvation? Maybe If we play a well-known program in the bowl and win.
  21. This is the only thing that gives me hope. Yes, it's tiny, but it's hope. http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/21617765/jimbo-fisher-urged-donate-money-to-save-espn
