  1. DataBull...You're still like a computer...garbage in, gargage out... The parking alone would generate millions in revenue. Hell, I had to pay $20 to park in a Garage H that seemed like it was a mile from the aluminum wok they call a stadium at UCF. Then there is all the income from concessions and ancillary revenues. Parking alone would generate millions in revenue? What are you drinking? There can't be room for more than 5000 parking space. At $20 a piece that is $100k per game. I know it may have been a while since you've attended an event with large number of people but they have these big buildings called "parking garages."
  2. The question would be is that 30% or gross sales or 30% of the net profit? There is simply no reason why the athletic department should be running there own concessions other than laziness and ignorance.
  3. Please, answer the following 1. Does USF operate the food and beverage concessions at the Sun Dome, and other venues (Marshall Center, etc) on campus? If not, why would they do it at an OCS? 2. USF doesn't operate the USF gear shop at at the Sun Dome (approximately 40 BB games/yr.), so why would they at an OCS (6 - 7 games a year)? 1. Never underestimate the lack of business sense from Academia. Serving up nachos and Diet Coke is not rocket science and most college students I've dealt with in the food service industry know how to do it if you show them how. Giving it over to a 3rd party is simply D-U-M-B, DUMB! 2. See above.
  4. Old enough to know better, but young enough to not want to.
  5. You can go sit in ****** aluminum bleachers and pisss in a trough. I'll take the huge TV screens, vast amount of food and drink choices, great seats and easy access in and out of the stadium. There's a reason its one of the top NFL stadiums....It is definately good enough for a mediocre program that is all of 16 years old. Yes, RayJay is the Applebee's of NFL stadiums. Not sure I get your logic. I know you don't. How many OC college football stadiums have you attended games at? Ben Hill Griffin, Doak Campbell. Jordan Hare, Rutgers, Carter-Finley, Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium, Notre Dame, Williams-Brice, Vaught-Hemmingway, and Bobby Dodd. Do you want the off-campus stadiums and the bowl games attended too? How about you? I've been to too many to list individually by name, but all the stadiums in the Old Big 8, all the stadiums in the old Big 12, most of the SEC stadiums except Florida (which will be fullfilled on November 4th) and Mississippi State, all of the old Big 10 stadiums except Northwestern, Minnesota and Wisconsin, then Arizona, Memphis State, Arkansas State, Maryland and whichever ones I've forgotten I've been to since 1973.

You were had...parking was free at UCF! And....Then there are all the operating, and maintenance expenses incurred for a stadium that will sit idle most of the year. No, it ain't. I have a printed ticket from the University. So, you're out of the closet ..Knight Fan!! Nope...I used to be a Bulls Fan, but no longer.

You were had...parking was free at UCF! Maybe they started charging since our last game there ... Why would a Bulls Fan of sound mind, be going to a game there other than the USF - UCF Classic?? Who said I was a Bulls Fan and of sound mind?

  10. It would depend on whether beer is sold. I'm not sure what the national average is for college football games, but concerts average $12-$15 per head, so you do the math. Beer sales and parking fees is why amphitheaters were invented. That means some people will spend $25-$30 on beer while other spend nothing. Then the venue would still have the concession revenue from soft drinks, popcorn, nachos, pretzels, burgers, hot dogs, Dippin Dots, etc., etc. Then you have stadium seat rentals as well as merchandise such at shirts and hats. a small percentage If USF would agree to sell beer and give Yuengling exclusivity they would probably pony-up a huge chunk of the cost of building the stadium. Oh...and then there are the naming rights... 1. The Lions share of concession sales goes to the concessionaires, USF would only see a small percentage of those dollars.... 2. It's unlikely that an OCS at USF will be selling beer to the masses.. 3. USF Shirts and hats are sold at the RJ, and USF gets it cut. 4. USF has been trying to sell naming rights to the Sun Dome for years, how has that worked out? 1. USF would be the concessionaire and would receive 100% of the revenue. 2. Most college stadiums do not sell beer to the masses, but it was just a suggestion considering Tampa is home to Yuengling. 3. USF would get 100% of the "merch" revenue rather than just a cut. 4. Apparently whoever the folks are heading up the naming for the Sun Dome doesn't know what they're doing or simply want too much because someone would pay up if the price was right even in the current economy.
  11. There are reasons I don't go to NFL games... But I do love the game day atmosphere on a college campus with a real OCS. I love the non-scripted, spontaneous behavior of the student section and the band, seeing old friends I haven't seen for years (or even decades), walking through campus and stopping at the Memorial Union or campus bookstore. An NFL stadium is simply too cookie cutter (like a chain restaurant)for me. weren't you just on here complaining about UCfs stadium experience? Please note the "real" qualifier just before the word stadium. But, to answer your question I would still rather attend a game on the surreal mall-like campus at UCF than a game at an NFL stadium.

  16. The problem at Ray Jay will soon take care of itself...What's the closest high school stadium to the USF campus and what's the capacity?
  17. Now you know what Vanderbilt feels like when 'Bama (or just about any other team) comes to town. On the bright side, at least the stadium was full. And it may be the last time that happens.
  18. I don't think any USF fan should be calling another team a bottom feeder.
  19. Answers what question? He certainly wasn't there to cheer UCF if he wasn't aware of the crappiness of their stadium. Are you suggensting I don't live in Plantation?
  20. Why didn't you guys warn me about that cracker box of a stadium at UCF? It was like a giant aluminum wok stir-frying everyone in it. Jeez it was hot!
  21. amen to that. The matter what, he is the godfather of USF football and we owe him gratitude for what he did for this program. He still loves this school, because he knows without him, none of this would be possible. I don't think that is Leavitt's take at all. He has repeatedly said how many people worked so hard to make it all happen. He led that building process no doubt-- but I think he sees it more as something he is proud to be associated with than something that would never have happened without him specifically. I can see how that might our feelings on the matter though. I don't think anyone really expected the rise to happen quite as fast as it did-- but USF has some pretty determined people working hard in many facets. As much as they get beat down, there are some seriously dedicated people inside the athletic program. MikeG: "You didn't build that! A lot of other people made that happen!" "Your coaches met in the office buildings we built...Oh, wait..." "Uh...Your teams practiced on the practice fields we...uh...built..." "And we paid you a starting salary equivalent to a truck driver to come here!"
