  1. As crappy as it has gotten USF would be better off letting it go.
  2. They showed up, but the atmosphere was very bland after the first 10 minutes of the game. I get that it was a boring game, but most sat the whole game and only stood up to dance. I chalked that up to many being freshman. They didn't know the chants, the songs, or the motions. They caught on a little later. And all this talk about what section to sit in is somewhat poignant seeing as how I felt a little weird sitting in the student section this past game. I just graduated in May but my gf is still a student, so she got me a guest ticket and we sat together in the student section. At first it was great, felt like it always has, but sometime during the game that feeling subsided and a feeling of not belonging washed over me. Suddenly, I was looking at the students and I felt out of place. Silly, I suppose since I've only been out for 4 months, I'm only 23, and was there with my gf who is a student, but I don't know. Things just seemed different for some reason.
  3. Well last year there was a watch party for the ND game at the baseball stadium. It was pretty nice.
  4. Welcome to the start of the real world, freshmen. It's a world where you don't always get what you want. Waaaaaaaaah! Pansies. But this is great news. Residency was down last year.
  5. 1) A couple of students up to the task of leading the chant 2) The rest of the students ACTUALLY KNOWING the chant Then spill it. How does it go?
  6. Agree wholeheartedly. To be blunt, the area looks like ****.
  7. I don't have any pictures, but Andros has been repainted with brown highlights. Looks MUCH better. I have a feeling the Andros Center will be getting a major refurbishment soon. Landscaping around Andros has improved significantly too. Planters have been cleaned up, dead plants ripped out, and new ones put in. The student entrance of the SunDome has received some decoration from what I've been told. I've yet to see it so no idea what exactly. The MLK fountain plaza has been cleaned up. The park outside the library is coming along nicely. This is a MAJOR improvement and makes the area look a million times better than before.
  8. Just for kicks I logged onto my student account to see if I could still request a student ticket, but alas, I cannot. The realization that I'm no longer a student is starting to grow.
  9. Sometimes it is when the police are there telling everyone to get out. ^^^ This... last season I tried staying for the alma mater each game and each game a cop came down and told us its time to leave... when we did not listen they got very testy. They were not just telling my group but everyone. USF should do something about this crap... fans should be allowed to hang around for a while after the end of the game vs. being rushed out like, well a bunch of livestock Just one more advantage of an OCS. And I don't recall the green rags/scarves/bandanas at the WVU game. That was the best game of football I may ever attend in my life. A traditions brain washing camp/orientation for freshman would help build school school spirit and pride imo. They had one this year, actually. It's called Camp U. http://www.newstudent.usf.edu/index.php/first-year/campu And as for being kicked out of the student section as the games ended, I've never had that problem. I've sat around and waited for the alma mater a few times and no one ever said a thing.
  10. this. What is the point if they arent even going to listen or consider anything? Last I heard is that they WERE considering the ideas presented. I have personally contacted the owner of the page in regards to potential ideas many times and he assured me that USF was listening. I had several ideas including lighting the roof of the Sundome green when we won basketball games (similar to the Trop), a USF float in Gasparilla, and, of course, implimenting a live bull at USF. I live on a farm and was willing to offer any advice that would be needed. I was told that all this would be considered and he had a project coming up soon that he would need assistance on. That was the last I've heard from him. But if USF is simply going to sweep this sort of activity under the rug then I am very disappointed by whoever made that call and think that individual needs to be removed immediately.
  11. If that's athletic's true view on the situation then that is EXTREMELY disappointing.
  12. It's the first day that basketball teams are officially allowed to practice. The concept originated when some schools would wait till midnight on the first day and open practice to the public. The NCAA loosened it up a bit and allow Midnight Madness to start in the evening, but it's mostly an all-star type event, with 3-point shooting contest and slam dunk contests by the players. Throw in some skits, videos, cheerleaders; it's a big pep rally to hype the basketball season. Sounds cool. When was the last time they did it? My two years there were absent of said event.
  13. A lot of work going on around and in the library.
  14. That is true, but the solid white wall also serves as the wall for the projector for Movies on the Lawn on Wednesday nights. I knew that. Last fall semester, or maybe it was spring?, for a short time they were using a giant inflatable screen and placing it near the MLK fountain for Movies on the Lawn. I much preferred that to them showing it on the wall of the bookstore. To be honest, however, I like it best when they show movies in the Oval Theater.
  15. Sorry looks like something a hunter would wear on his time off from watching NASCAR. Well you're entitled to your opinion but I really don't see it.
  16. Not bad. Honestly, it doesn't really make that much of a difference. But for continuity why the hell not?
  17. Anyone have any photos of the interior of the old MSC? Or more exterior shots? I'm curious as to how the area opened up with the new MSC. From my understanding, the old MSC and bookstore were connected, which would explain why the bookstore has brick on three sides and then solid white wall on the other.
  18. Thanks. I use a Sony Cybershot DSC-H1. The pictures are untouched by any sort of computer program. To achieve the lighting in those photos I simply set the camera on a certain mode and place it atop a tripod. Then I point, click, and viola! I do take a lot of shots of the same thing just to ensure I get a good picture.
  19. Wow. I've only seen a few pictures of the old MSC.
