  1. I think the media is saying we are free to handle the search anyway we want. Just as they're entitled to call us idiots for the way we're doing it. I think both are 100% right.
  2. Between being a Cub fan and a USF fan, I have no hope of ever seeing a basic level of competence in next 100 years.
  3. USF in total spin mode and f'ing it up.
  4. Heath has a large enough body of work by now between Arkansas and USF that it was pretty clear he isn't a Sweet 16 level coach. He rode the coat tails of the Kent St. Final Four run for over a decade. I haven't even seen Heath's name mentioned for any of the openings at the small schools. That to me says alot. Agreed my point was if you can't find anyone better why fire him to start. I starting to think there will not be an upgrade. That just shows poor planning and poor estimation of the market. Agreed, they have no planning skills at all. I don't understand how you hire a firm and go into this thinking USF is going to be in the market for a certain level of coach and end up where we are. It is like USF is saying we don't have the planning skills to hire a coach so we are going to get a firm to do this for us. However, the firm hired has no planning skills either...we never had a chance. Welcome to the Harlan era? I never thought I'd say we shouldn't have fired Doug either.

  7. That's a quote from the UNLV message board... It seems as though we command a lot of respect from other programs. you must not have read much of that thread....that was probably the only thing said that can be construed as being positive Their insults were kind of funny though. I always get a laugh out of people who pretend they didn't even know we were a school. I wouldn't even consider myself a huge fan of college basketball and even I know the location, size, conference, etc. of just about ever school as soon as I see their name.
  8. Their board is actually pretty fun. And they hate Rice something fierce.

  10. Daniel LaRusso is gonna fight?!?
  11. We liked Skip more his last year than UNLV fans currently like Rice. Neat.
  12. I hope Harlan doesn't waste too much time on this hire today, he needs to finish up that Prado extension ASAP.
  13. At least get your facts straight if you're going to slam him ... How is it slamming him. Our class last year was #22 with a four star and 3 three stars. His normal class is about 2-3 three stars and has been ranking anywhere from 50th to 75th. I don't think Heath was an awful recruiter by any means but I also don't think he was ever hitting any home runs either, which we see on the floor year in and year out. By normal class, you mean the classes he was recruiting before the Muma Center ... ? Look, I really can't defend the records the last 2 years, even though there were some extenuating circumstances. The records are what they are. My only point is that CSH showed what he could do here in 09/10 and 11/12 when he had the right players, talent/experience wise and I thought he should have had one more year to work with ... Now that we're up to $1.4 for Rice, firing CSH is looking more and more asinine.
  14. Maybe if it gets bid up to $2 million we can get a good coach. If we're lucky, $2 million might get us that coach who took Kent State to the Elite 8 a few years ago. I hear he's unemployed.
  15. I'm not sure what I'm less excited about, Rice saying yes to the job or no. Either we get publicly embarrassed or he's our next coach.
  16. Looks like UNLV is letting him walk, taking the buyout, and upgrading. We're the school that's going to make it happen.
  17. I like where it talks about him not being able to break a player of his habit of being overweight and ambivalent. Good thing those aren't USF problems he'll encounter.
  18. It's going to suck watching his career the next few years once this crap is over and he moves on.
  19. Only if his contract had a stipulation regarding a college degree.
  20. Remember a week ago when Bruce Pearl was a dream, but not completely out of the question? Then we got realistic, but Buzz Williams wasn't totally insane? Then we hit a home run and hired Masiello out of nowhere? Now I'm supposed to give a **** about Dave Rice, who's getting run out of town by unlv?
  21. Good thing we're around to give him a half a million raise on his way out.
  22. Plenty of talent, not enough wins? Failing to live up to expectations? Shortcomings all around? Where do I sign up for this guy?
