  1. I'd take a cold body that stresses defense and recruits well.
  2. I have no personal pony in this show, I just want some one who wins. He went to NC with Nebraska and he is winning at Ohio U of all places. He would be a safe bet and his base salary is $430,000 if this article is correct. http://thepost.ohiou.edu/content/solich-might-see-raise-tops-ou-mac-salaries
  3. 67: He is as old as Spurrier edited: He is 68 and still as old as Spurrier.
  4. http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/coaching/alltime_coach_year_by_year.php?coachid=2195 A winning coach with a name and a low salary. Doug doesn't watch this board but I just did your job buddy. Got a bum deal at Nebraska. Now creating wonders at Ohio.
  5. 1. Sonny Dykes 2. Frank Solich 3. Ron Zook 4. Dan Quinn 5. (Someone Else)
  6. Having not lived in Tampa for 5 years now, I might be off base, but I have to imagine this is all hyperbole, correct?
  7. Give it up. Look for yourself. I was looking for news on the coaching search. Does USF still have to pay him if he gets a job? https://twitter.com/...733141744914433 Damon VanHook â€@dv294369 @ESPN_BigTen I am not a Purdue fan but I dont understand why they would not look at Skip Holtz You are quoting a guy who tweets other gems like: Damon VanHook â€@dv294369 @aprilmacie MY GOD ARE YOU ******* GORGEOUS
  8. I am pretty sure this will never happen no matter how much anyone begs.
  9. With Illinois he had a perennial crappy team in a much better conference than ours and managed to post a 9-4 season where he took Illinois to the Rose Bowl. All while recruiting like a madman where ever he went. Is that better?
  10. This. Because it is realistic. Even a "big name" slam dunk coach couldn't polish this turd quick enough to satiate the masses. I can't even begin to understand this line of thinking. Even when you fear failure you shoot for the stars. By that I don't mean a big name or a retread, but a hungry young coach who you believe can be something special going forward. By hiring Zook you would literally be shooting for mediocrity and expecting relative failure. The man went 23-15 at Florida following in the biggest shoes possible. Everyone hated him from day one which I assume is why you have that taste in your mouth. He inherited a **** program at Illinois and didn't make it any worse. I don't think he is the greatest hire by far but I think he should be top 5. He is also the most realistic hire I have seen mentioned.
  11. I think you confuse the word "era" with "skid mark in the underpants of USF athletics."
  12. This. Because it is realistic. Even a "big name" slam dunk coach couldn't polish this turd quick enough to satiate the masses.
  13. If you say his name 3 times, he haunts your program for years.
  14. didnt we still have coach when strong was hired by lville? If I remember the way it went down, Leavitt was most likely getting fired right when he got hired by Louisville. I distinctly remember the board talking of the possibility.
  15. BTW someone like pre-Louisville Charlie Strong is what we need. I remember this board begging to get Strong last go 'round. This is the realistic type of person we can grab.
  16. 2 and 3 should go hand and hand. Not many big names that haven't coached big time programs.
  17. We could hire Ron Zook. Nope. We have had a 4 year stretch with a coach scandal and a progressively worse team that can't beat a conference opponent.
  18. Overall conference record the last two years. If that had been acceptable those two losses wouldn't have got him fired. While what you said is correct, I feel hyperbole makes for better message board fodder.
  19. We have no future QB and our team is in shambles. What is the worst that could happen?
  20. If we can just throw **** against the wall, I want Bill Cowher and Jon Gruden co-head coaching.
