  1. If you ever think Woolard is a bad AD just remind yourself...

Hes never going to be as bad as FIU's AD Pete Garcia.

Garcia fired Mario Cristobal, the guy who took them from a HS football team playing D1 to conference championships and bowl games. They were even one of the first teams picked up by CUSA in its first expansion and were on the rise. Even after Cristobal stayed at FIU when programs like Rutgers wanted him as a head coach. Imagine if our AD fired Leavitt after he stayed when Bama offered. Garcia promised a big "name" coach but took a month to hire anybody and then ended up hiring the Bucs QB Coach Ron Turner who has a losing record as a head coach in college. Turner's hire is a death sentence to their program because most of FIU's recruits have jumped ship because Turner is the 180 of what Cristobal was (young, cool, charismatic)

  2. This team has done a great job with what they have. Its just a matter of not having a big PF or C body on the roster but Jordan. The season has been fun and this is the first year of something great coming for the future with our new facilities and sweet recruiting class. I expect us to not do so well against conference play with the lack of size on our team (seriously Fitz played Center last game, that would not happen in any other BE team.)

Heath is the man and next year this team is going to be one of the better sides in the New BE from here on.

  3. I'm sorry I'm not wearing the G&G goggles on this hire.

Some people seem to think NFL automatically means results in college whether recruiting or on the field. Remember Bill Callahan or Mike Sherman? It really all comes down to results. Hes statistically had some of the worsts defenses in the NFL consecutively and that team he coached to the SB was known for its explosive offense under Gannon and Rice and got pounded by the Bucs.

Connections can get you anywhere in life.

  4. Our defenses couldnt close games. But this was because they were all so **** tired from being on the field all the time because our offense couldnt get a first down. And when they would score it would come off 50 yard bombs which would not give them time to rest at all. But all blame should not be put on BJ, our receivers dropped an incredible amount of passes this season. However, BJ never lived up to expectations and throughout his career his name was cursed more than it was praised by fans. A new beginning couldnt come soon enough.

  5. At some point, in the schools leaving ACC scenario, it comes to a point where they are going to be like the Big East, with the same issues of instability and their TV contract being rewritten for much less. Try and sell to ESPN that USF can replace the TV audience of FSU or Miami. Right.

When USF is a good team we usually get pretty good ratings. The 2007 WVU and Rutgers games as well as the 2009 cincinatti game received great ratings on ESPN. However winning was a hassle for our team the last two seasons dropping us to the bottom of the food chain. Just win and everything else will fall into place

  6. I think you should do a simple Google search of past Elite 11 camps before you declare a "high percentage" of them did ****. Some of them became all-conference, some of them all-American, some of them pros. But guess what, some of them are Roman Ybarra.

Of course there are busts. But this group includes players like Andrew Luck, Geno Smith, AJ McCarron, Matt Stafford, Tim Tebow, etc..

After looking at the list of atendees i would say its the other way around. A few select sucess stories but the majority underachived or were busts.

    holtz-couldnt recruit;defsne was terrrilbe-lack of discipline

taggert-unknown--he needs to recruit better than first two or he is doomed to fail

I'm always so amazed at how many complain that Leavitt didn't recruit well, etc? When you're a 7-9 year old program fresh out of trailers, how do you think a coach goes into a kids house who just got wooed by Ohio St, Alabama, etc, and talk him into changing his life's dreams and coming to little new kid on the block USF? The fact that he got who he did with what he had to work with was nothing short of amazing.

When you get up to #2 in the nation and some big wins, your recruiting should improve over prior years. It not only didn't improve, it appears it backslid. That is worthy of criticism.

Actually, on paper, it did improve in 2009 ... and then came the upheaval.

On paper, turned into a disaster on the field.

    Thanks to Holtz not Leavitt!

Go look at the names on that list. You'll see how few of them were unable to contribute anything at all. Pretty serious lack of talent in that class.

Their lack of production goes down to the coaching.

  8. This kid is turning out to be such a primadonna.

White is a state champion and this kid has only won a couple of 2 hand touch tournaments. We re focusing too much attention on the wrong qb.

You need to do some research on the Elite 11 and the number of premier QBs in college and the NFL that got an invite, much less became one of the Elite 11 or won MVP. I think a high percentage were all conference or all American with some being franchise NFL QBs.

And I really don't see him acting that bad for a 17 year old. I mean, he is acting normal for a youth of today where the United States is gaga over football. He isn't acting like he is the best QB coming out of high school. He just wants to make the right choice in a situation with several good choices. If anything, the fans are the ones that need to look at their unrealistic expectations. If it was me, I wouldn't give USF a look because of the uncertainty of the Big East.

All I'm saying is we already have a QB who does want to be a bull wholeheaterdly and has won a CHAMPIONSHIP.

If Woulard does come here I'll be his #1 fan but I hope Taggart doesn't give him a golden starting ticket just because Trent Dilfer likes him.

Yep we were #25 in the nation. Nowhere close since.

  10. Glad to see BJ and his god awful decision making go.

I'll miss Landi, he was a stand-up guy on and off the field.

You enjoyed the last three games, didn't you?

I didn't enjoy anything about last season.

People act as if we were undefeated until BJ got hurt.

I also had a bad run-in with BJ at dining hall on campus because he thought he was hot **** all the time cutting people so I've never been fond of him but thats another topic.

We weren't undefeated, but at least we scored touchdowns. And I'm sure he's not the only football player that thinks he's hot **** and cuts in line at the dining hall. I'm not trying to make you miss BJ, but this thread is football-related.

Sorry just not a fan of BJ and I'm not about to switch sides just because he got hurt and now is gone. I would not want him running Taggart's system after hearing so many things about how the coaches had to dumb down the playbook for him in '09 and just watching him throw game sealing pick after pick against the likes of Ball State right after joking around with their defensive players and burning a valuable timeout. Or going 5 comps with 4 ints against UF throwing almost as many passes to the other team. He was exciting to watch but it would die down after he would scramble backwards 30 yards and then get sacked against teams like NIU. Good for him having making highlight plays against teams like FAMU though, Holtz was his biggest ally in his inemptitude to recruit any other QBs while coaching here.

I think a game-managing QB such as White is exactly what we need right now after watching BJD for four years.
