Honestly, for USF fans, if Cincy was leading after last weekend, Wilder not announcing is probably an encouraging development for USF ...

That's my take, GA...but with JUCOs, do they still sign LOIs on NSD, or can they toll till whenever?

I'm pretty sure anybody can toll till whenever, but I believe they typically sign on NSD

Makes sense.  I guess I was thinking that Juco can transfer at virtually anytime, but you're right about HS kids.  Slipped my mind.  Mas cafe, por favor.

Side by side with Kentucky? I think we disagree there by a country mile.

Point is we're both recruiting BCS caliber players and FAU and Stetson aren't (or certainly can't as effectively). Not sure how you can disagree with that, unless you think USF and FAU/ Stetson are recruiting the same caliber players.

I don't think that.  Neither do I think USF and UK are recruiting the same caliber players.

I don't want to let facts get in the way of your opinion, but check the rankings...we're VERY close to Kentucky, and it's not like UK has stellar athletes v our class.

    LOL

"LOL"??  Isn't there an age limit for that?  Seriously, though, do you believe UK's class is a level above?  I don't see it.  Don't let the mystique of the SEC fool you.  UK lost to WKU last year.  They got crushed by Lville; we lost on the last play. UK scored 18 points a game last year.  yes, USF sucked last year.  But "LOL"ing at the notion that the schools are close in terms of recruiting talent caliber is hard to substantiate.

  3. What about silas is he gone. I think we will get some suprises on nsd. I'm excited.

Silas just committed to FIU yesterday, presumably because we told him we weren't offering.  I spoke to one of his coaches last night, at a church function...said he was a great and very hard working athlete.  We'll see if we have someone stronger lined up.

  5. I hope we pick him up. I wonder if there is anyone else that Miami shorted that needs a bus ticket.

Matthew Thomas no 2 OLB in the country maybe. Booker T Washington Senior. 5 stars, who has the same coach that is so pissed at Golden? Matthew, we have a LB spot for you too. Imagine Kirkland, Elkino and Thomas at USF. What a show that would be.

As luck would have it, I believe we still have 4-5 schollies left.  Maybe a few more.  Wednesday will be telling. Kirkland would be a HUGE get, and would help clear big paths for our RBs.

  6. Would have liked Kemp, but he was down my list of "wanna gets" at the end.  McCray seems the better back for Taggart's style offense, taking nothing from Kemp.

I will say I'm surprised he'll pick Kentucky over Pitt or WVU, given both have a better offense.  Taggart surely reminded Kemp that his WKU team beat SEC Kentucky last season.

No hard feelings, as I guess we get Tice now.  Enjoy Kentucky...and don't forget to set your watch back 20 years when you cross the state border.[just razzing...wish him all the best.  I think he treated USF with class...hopefully doesn't ruin that by a lame hat trick by the recent Lville LB from Gville, Kelsey.

  7. Thinking that he is leaning towards Miami. Given what Miami did to Kirkland, I'm guessing they told him that we NEED to know if you are coming to hold a scholarship for you. Since we haven't heard anything about Miami backing off, I think that he might have already given them a silent one.

Now if the NCAA get's their act together by signing day, things might be different.

I doubt the NCAA can avoid stepping on it's, well...before NSD.  So I think the Canes fare well in recruiting, but if the sanctions are severe, maybe UM players can leave without penalty, as with USC and Penn St.  I'm sure UM is painting a rosy picture to recruites ["they ain't got nothin'!!"]

My money is on UM, but I think we have a shot...but remote.

  8. I think Wilder should look at the DBs we've put in the NFL, even if just a few, and compare to Cincy...and now we have a former NFL DB coach who has put a few very good players in.  You want to go to the NFL...play for someone that knows how to help you.

I agree that Cooper is a legit reason to come to USF, but saying Jenkins (or any other previous DB getting to the NFL) is a reason for him to come here is silly. Why the hell would Wilder care, or should he care, that we had a first round draft pick at his position 4 years and 3 staffs ago?

*sigh*  I'm saying if he's picking between us & Cincy, and his goal is the NFL, we have a better story to tell.  It's not that complicated. Don't forget Jerome Murphy & Raymond Mistral, and the 2 (and soon to be 3) that Cooper has helped get into the NFL.

Complicated? I actually wrote "I agree that Cooper is a legit reason to come to USF." I think that would lead some to believe I didn't forget.

Story to tell? I don't even know what that means? Who ever got drafted based on their school's "story" and not talent? You think GMs are going to say, "I like that Wilder kid. Did he go to the same school as those other DBs that weren't in any way associated with the current coaching staff? He did! That's excellent, he's our pick!"

You're missing the point, and I don't see good odds of making you understand, so I'll drop it.  Hope we get Wilder, but life goes on if not.

Is he SURE he wants to be behind this guy?

Unfortunately for Woulard at UCLA he likely will not be a starter right away with redshirt freshman quarterback Brett Hundley coming off a 29-touchdown season with nine more coming on the ground in a nine-win season.

that's why I posted elsewhere that I see the alure of LA pulling him, the proximity and earlier op to start of Clemson winning over.  He seemed to tweet a LOT about other Clemson players & recruits, more than any other school.  Wonder if Dvo unfriended him on Facebook, after they both apparently agreed to come to USF [kidding about the Facebook thing].

  11. I'm a little concerned that we aren't focused enough on a big, tough OL.

In Florida, we have a lot of skill guys and speed that are great for air attacks and finesse offenses, but Taggart wants a power-run game. It is more important than ever for us to have one of the best OL's in the conference/nation.

Right now we have 16 defensive commits, of which 7 are on the line.

We have 5 offensive commits, with 2 on the line.

What am I missing? What does Taggart know that I/we don't? Yes we need talent on the defensive side of the ball, but 2 OL commits, for an offense like ours?

Taggart knows what he wants to build, where his areas of concerns are and who he is pursuing.  We have 3 OL...if Ruff stays, and Hector may be a guard.

I think he's got a few lined up, or he wouldn't have encouraged some of the players to seek ops elsewhere.

  12. Any one have a list of players considering USF, and when they expect to announce?  That'd be great, to know when to look out.  In addition to the above list of NSD announcements, there are others setting times, like Kemp I think is tonite at 730?

Who's the guru, or tracking this stuff.  5 days till we see how Coach T has done.  Looks like a Top 50 class, with potential to break 40 with some late pulls...and if we could get Coley, Johnson and Kemp, we'd be in very good shape.  Kirkland would be excellent, but I see him at FSU, with his pal Denson.  But if he doesn't want to languish in Denson's shadow, he can be the BRUISER at USF, and be a long time starter anchoring the line.

Big surprise will be when Woulard commits to USF, as Taggart has know he's staying home for weeks [kidding!  I think the allure of LA is very strong to him, but if I HAD to guess, I'd say he goes to Clemson.  He seemed to have a lot more interaction/fun with Clemson players & recruits, and I think he has a better chance to play early there, as Boyd plays in 2013, and Woulard redshirts to learn the offense & fully heal the leg.  Plus, if his parents want to see him play, Clemson is a LOT closer than LA.

It'll be nice when the hoopla is over, we know who we have and we start seeing how 2013 is shaping up.

  13. Thought that he'd be coming here as a grad student for his 5th year? Guess that info was wrong...he also has NOT registered for the NFL draft, so take that for whatever it's worth.

I think Jupiter was referring to the other potential transfer, not Andrews.

Ah...well that makes more sense lol

Correct, but if it's not Andrews, and not Blakely, I'd like to know who the next wild card is.

  14. Not sure where this goes, but here's the NSD Line Up.  Expect hats to be swapped...but maybe a future Bull or 2?  List from ESPN.com

  15. i definitely like the fact he is 6'5" and at 200, he could probably end up putting 15-20 lbs on easy with Hans pumping him up. he looks like he has decent mobility on rollouts and bootlegs, kid has a nice arm on those as well (his baseball pitching strength shows up here). i like his delivery - when he decides to throw, his arm goes back fast and the ball gets out. i feel like taggart has had his eye on this kid for a while and if we can have a decent running game, this kid looks like he'll be just fine.

watching more of it, he has really quick feet, he looks like peyton manning out there with his happy feet. he almost bounces and gets set when he makes his reads. i can see him scanning the field and coming back to a screen or a dump off and those are the plays that keep drives alive more so than big bombs. harbaughs/taggarts offense loves the TE screens and with the TE talent we have, we might be really dangerous over and up the middle.

he was making a few throws that look like he didn't even put his all into it, pure arm strength, nice to see. i could see him redshirt and learn the offense while eveld and floyd stay ahead of him but he has a future for sure.

My thoughts, too...he takes the snaps & get to the pocket while scanning, smoothly & quickly.  Quick release.  Lots to grow, but a good foundation.
