  1. How close are you guys to running out of schollies? We're getting pretty close...

I hate to say it, but with that limit, not sure we can take 2 more DBs. I'm not seeing any buzz indicating we're on the short list, but with Cooper & Taggart, things may change [and if his family/friends want to see him play].

I have a feeling WVU is going to slump for a bit. Their D was horrible last year, and they are losing their top 3 offensive stars this year.

  2. Some serious haterade going on in here.
It would be hard for this KID to be successful here at USF. His first INT, he would get lambasted. He wouldn't get a chance to grow at USF. And if USF is in the running for Chase Litton, I hope he don't commit until the last day. These fans would kill him like AW.

Just because some people don't like the way AW handled this doesn't mean he wouldn't be embraced.  QBs will be criticized at any school...and loved with success.  For all the grief BJ caught on line, he always rec'd the loudest cheers in pre-game introductions.  Bulls fans love players who compete & give it there all...but all fan bases have some who will bash some players.

Can't grow?  If fans stiffle your growth, you have problems already.

I agree .... All the butt hurt would go away if he did pick up our hat on NSD and the schizophrenic love affair would start with our fans as a qb.

For sure.  I don't see him coming here, but we still have a locale that his folks can visit each game, and a lot of talent coming on board under Taggart.  He may've decommitted ostensibly because Holtz was fired, but no way would we on his short list if Holtz remained & we brought in a 60 or 70 ranked class.  No one wants to be the stud of a lame class...that spells failure, almost certain.  He could be successful at USF, maybe starting in 2013.  I don't see him getting time till 2015 at UCLA/Clemson...unless he really IS as good as he thinks he is.  Then, maybe he beats out the talent ahead [footnote:  Brissett said the same thing:  "I'm not afraid of competition with Driskoll".  2 years of nothing, and he sits out 2013, to hopefully play 2 years at NC State.

  3. If he was really considering coming here, wouldn't he have taken an official OV this weekend. He has 2-3 open official OV's to take and he could have joined his buddy Travis on this visit, but he didn't. Plus he hasn't really tweeted about USF in about three weeks. IMO, there is no way this kid is coming here. I think he already "unofficially" committed to Memphis.

Memphis over USF?  Hard to believe, and I'm surprised others aren't chasing him. The only knock is size, and it looks like he played some pretty bad teams, based on his highlight reel. Lots of undersized arm tacklers.

  5. Not hate.  Just following the fairly obvious.  Here, Woulard is trying to put the Genie back in the bottle. "PLEASE don't believe I committed?  Tune in on NSD at 12:30 to see me juggle hats!! It's a huge surprise.  Nobody knows, and the world should be on its ear waiting for the stunning conclusion!"

    1. UCLA Bruins 247â€@Bruin24 News on potential Asiantii Woulard (@AW_QB2) commitment to #UCLA. We attempt to clear up rumors: http://ucla.247sports.com/Board/27/News-on-potential-Asiantii-Woulard-commitment-to-UCLA-16187591 … … via @247Sport

@Bruin247 @AW_QB2 @247Sports Congrats on your commit to UCLA. UK would've loved you but good luck and best wishes regardless. #WeAreUK #BBN

  6. Hearing rumblings about Stacy. Got my fingers crossed

Last year I thought we had ample WRs...then with injuries, it became clear:  you can never have too many playmakers.

I'd put Miami as 70%, FSU at 25% and USF at 5%.  He's got "swag"...watch his video, and UM just hired FSU OC Coley.  So I'd guess UM will pull this guy.  But having seen his tape, if we somehow got him, I'd be giddy.

With all this talent LOOKING to be fed footballs, a good QB should be happy to land here.  Not sure why we can't see to attract [that said, White could be that guy].

  7. plans on trying to go pro? Looks like Russell wilson, kapernick, and rg 3 just said you can run a gimmick offense and be big time in nfl. Nfl scouts dont care what kind of offense you ran in college. They will evaluate your skills in workouts. Alabama wins National championships and until this year they havent had a qb who was noticable. So kids want to put up big numbers. Big numbers gets attention. Your gimmick offenses are just as easy to get to the next level as a anything else.

Ken Stabler & Joe Namath ring a bell?  Yes, I know that's a 100 years ago.

  8. Check out Woulard: afraid people are not going to tune into his 12:30 PM NSD Announcement:

    Asiantii Woulardâ€@AW_QB2

For the record, I haven't committed anywhere yet.

Congrats to 2012 @Elite11 MVP @AW_QB2 (Asiantii Woulard) #UCLA GREAT talent, but even a better kid. Cali just got Florida's BEST! #QBSurgeon

Looks like he's headed to UCLA, and Dilfer leaked it...and AW doesn't want to lose the spotlight.  Hated to lose the guy, but glad we're clear of the circus.

I looked at it as Dilfer incorrectly interpreting Woulard's tweet of him in a UCLA jersey.

Doubt it...I think Woulard is headed there, and Dilfer prematurely Tweeted it.  Woulard wants a LeBron time stage...just as I posted on GA's blog weeks ago, before he announced his plan.  He's not hard to predict.

  9. https://twitter.com/OhThatsYoGirl11

I wasn't keen on Valdes coming here, and after reading this thread, and checking his Twitter, I'm hoping all these team "showing love" actually offer him, and he commits elsewhere.

Hope we get Travis Johnson, and Kemp and/or McRay.  Didn't hear about Coley, but I've long seen him going to Miami.  Didn't hear about the CB either, but he's likely Miami as well, as it seems UM has a few schollies reserved for the late press.

Looking forward to a strong close, NSD and then a focus on 2013.

  10. Maybe it's the way they are standing, but Travis Johnson doesn't look 6'4".  Valdes is listed at 6'3", but looks much taller.  Johnson is also listed on some sites as 230 or so...doesn't appear to be very muscular.

All that, the film I've seen, and the rep he has, he seems like a great get, if he decides USF is the place for him.  Would love to see him line up opposite Price.

  11. He's not going to UCLA, he's going to Clemson. The thing is, he's going to redshirt no matter where he goes. Cole Stoudt isn't that good. If Woulard is as good as everyone says he is, he could easily jump Cole when he a redshirt frosh. It's not a horrible choice. If he's good enough, he'll start after 1 year.

I hear ya and when you look at the two options/situations, Clemson is the better of the two. However, what's still lingering in the back of my mind is the timing of these two schools. What is the likelihood that either of them really believe Woulard is thier future starter? Looking at UCLA's situation it seems to be a clear case of wanting depth. With Clemson it's not so clear, but again no contact until the 11th hour.

    Other supporting thoughts.

Woulard won the elite 11, why not start courting him then even if he wasn't at the top of their list?

Woulard's senior performance with the team around him was poor, what has changed since winning the elite 11 that would make them interested now?

I understand he was solidly committed to us after the second time, but that usually doesn't stop elite schools from offering thier top blue chip targets.

To me this adds up to Woulard being a ways down on the board and a back up option to fill this recruiting class. It doesn't add up to either school feeling confident he is truly their future QB. These are the questions I would be asking myself if I were Woulard.

Sorry to quote my own post, but really no one has any other thoughts on this?

That's an interesting angle.  Schools not really needing a QB this year, but taking a gamble on a 4 star, knowing USF can be pillaged.  So, the worst they do is waste a schollie on Woulard, and if he doesn't pan out, he transfers or quits, or simply rides the pine for 4-5 years.  If we were a Top 25 program, we'd likely do the same thing. Very little risk, and apparently pretty easy to pry him from our camp.  No point in recruiting him earlier, as he always had a roaming eye, having decommitted twice.

  13. I'm been frustrated with Woulard's handling of everything, but I'm not sure I'd end up in the same place.  Two big time programs [uCLA & Clemson] decide LATE in the game to enter a fight between USF & NC State, and they go all out for him.  He's in LA now, which is impressive for a kid to see [an adult, for that matter], and he's meeting alum & at least one NFL UCLA alum].  He's star struck & likely very flattered.  No one cared where I was going to college, so I suppose I can't really relate to what he's doing.

I don't know if we had a chance once those 2 schools took off after him, but I've over it...and hopeful we get another QB who fits Taggart's O, and get us back to winning games and getting to bowl games [and a conference championship].

  14. This thread epitomizes our frustrations with the last few years. AW was our only hope to get back to relevancy but Willie changed that in the short term. This thread will be a reminder of the tough times that we endured. Don't lock it ....pin it in the 'Hall of Fame posts' forum.

I'd agree. I think we're a lot less desperate with Taggart taking over from Holtz, and seeing some excellent late recruiting.

  15. Great addition!  I love beating out an SEC school for a recruit.

GT is an ACC school, at least last time I checked... ;-)

Technically, we didn't beat out Tech. They rescinded his offer when he visited us without notifying them.

In the grand scheme of things, that's beating them out in my book. I mean he knew that he was ditching them when he came to USF.

He had offers from Vandy & Kentucky...2 SEC schools.  I think that was his point.

  16. Ely is in Tampa this weekend......

I believe he's the 2nd string QB at Bama, 2nd in line.  He played sparingly, so not sure if he can redshirt or get a hardship.  Worst case, he comes in 2014 as a RS Soph.  That'd mean we'd rely on Floyd/Eveld, and maybe White in 2013.

Not sure if this affects White...hope not, as it's just a rumor at this point, and we can't afford to have zero QBs in this lot.

  17. MW doin work!!

As the recruiting season makes its way down the final stretch, we caught up with USF QB commit Mike White.

Earlier this month, we profiled University School QB Mike White. The Rivals.com two-star recruit was Willie Taggart's first commitment as the Bulls Head Coach.

While waiting to make his commitment official on National Signing Day, White has been doing a bit of recruiting on his own.

"We're trying to get South Florida back to its prominence" White said. The QB aims to get USF back to "when it was ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation."

White has been trying to help the Bulls make late pushes for recruiting targets like QB Tyler Cogswell, LB Skai Moore, and WR Stacy Coley.

"It's easy when you have coaches like Taggart and them, they're just great guys. You'd be crazy if you didn't want to play for them."

The Bulls and Willie Taggart were very successful the weekend of White's visit, adding five verbal commitments.

White is a dual sport athlete. Along with football, the Florida 3A state champion also plays baseball at University School in Ft. Lauderdale. The QB says that his main focus at USF is going to be football.

Earlier in the week, the University QB received an offer from Houston and had an in-school visit from Mississippi State. Despite the recent attention, White remains a solid commit to USF.

    That to me is impressive.

A Tale of Two Cities...great to see a QB loyal to the commitment AND smart enough to try to bring & surround himself with even more talent.  I saw the reel on Coley...I doubt we get him, but wow.  Impressive.

  18. I'm betting we get at least two out of the three in Davis, Kemp, and McCray. Plus Auggie was told he will be a fullback. Looks like we will have a healthy RB class. Just need another QB and we will be set.

Davis seems like a Lamar type, and the others are bruisers.  Getting 2 would be a coup.  If Travis Johnson comes, our O will be excellent...provided we have a QB that is even close to good.

Why did you have to choose that avatar and remind me of the futility of my youth?

    Creamsicle = Ugh!

Cuz it's mine, too...you can't appreciate the joy of victory without enduring the misery of losing.  McKay was the man...Selmons ruled Tampa Bay.  Good times..

Here's one with even better times!

  20. Glad the "maybe" phase is over...now CoachTaggart can score a QB and we can forgot about getting jilted by this attention wh0re.  WIsh I could wish him the best, but I can't.  I don't fault him for picking Clemson or UCLA...that's his choice, and he should do what's best for him.  It's the way he jerked Taggart & USF around, while being coy and giddy with other schools.  Hope this is the peak for him...greatness in his mind [yes, Bull family, I know this is very immature...just a pent up vent after months of watching him & his game].  Let's go get a real QB for Taggart's O.

Since you admitted yourself that rant was immature no need to be redundant .... but I do wonder how he jerked Taggart and USF around?... Or do we just chalk up that to the immaturity thing?

I could be wrong...if Woulard was straight with Taggart, and told him he wasn't coming [or even that it was highly unlikely], then Woulard did the right thing.  Seems his dad made several comments about wanting to be able to his son play every day.  Dumping USF is OK, but doing it late in the game & waiting till NSD to tell us, so we can't score another QB, stinks.  But at this point, with Clemson & UCLA gushing over him, I'm sure Taggart doesn't need Woulard to tell him he's not coming...it's a given, and we may still have time to score a good QB.

  21. Joey Knight â€@JoeyHomeTeam

Congrats to @RobinsonKnights G/DT Bruce Hector, winner of the '12 Kynes Award as Hills County's top lineman. For now, he's a #USF commit

Why do we not want him again?

I'm not saying this in a sarcastic way, just trying to answer your question as to why people way not want him. Maybe because we're his only legit D1, BCS offer and he's a 2 star recruit?

The system is flawed...ESPN has him as 69, 2 Star.  One notch up, at 70, and he's a 3 star & folks are happy.  Taggart knows better.

  22. I'm betting we get at least two out of the three in Davis, Kemp, and McCray. Plus Auggie was told he will be a fullback. Looks like we will have a healthy RB class. Just need another QB and we will be set.
