  1. After watching film of Blakely yesterday I couldn't help but notice how much Woulard reminds me of the Bradenton QB #10(Barnes?) that committed to us and then signed with Nebraska. So far I haven't heard of him doing anything great and the more I learn about White the more I think he is all we'll need. Since he fits our new system better and we all know next year will have it's growing pains so it's not like we'll be expecting him to win games for us like BJ had to. Also think Eveld fits CWT's system perfectly and could do some damage with his game experience and skill set. Floyd to me is more of our old offensive scheme and might be the odd man out but who knows maybe he works hard at fixing his weaknesses and adapts his game.

All in all I think we'll be fine with what we have and our main concern was RB but feel we'll be fine there as well with the talent we have and McCray. Hopefully we land Tice or JoJo to give us some more options. I'm kind of shocked we didn't focus on LB more so with all the talent we lost and what we have right now are all projects and WAY to light to play BCS caliber football except for Dede. Hearns looks like he could play right away though and Whitehurst and Cliett are solid players but still need to add some weight. If our DL plays the way they're capable of it will all come together b/c opposing teams shouldn't even have a chance to throw the ball and we are pretty solid at OL, TE and WR. So we should be at least competitive next year.

Brion Carnes is the QB.  My understanding is he's playing sparingly at Nebraska, as a wide receiver.  So it goes...

  2. Grades or test scores, I'm sure

4-star LB James Hearns tells http://t.co/yIPaom2D he will not sign with any school on NSD

Not common, but players do sometimes hold off their until after NSD just because they're not ready. Usually it's high profile guys, but that could be the case here.

The word about the academics has been out for a while though

Hope he doesn't read this...and right before his OV.

I'm sure he know what his grades are and I kinda doubt he's coming this w/e now. I could be wrong though, it's happened a couple of times.

Looks like a long shot, but a good potential.  Not sure when the quite period begins (guessing Monday), but it'd be cool to know how may schollies we have...and predictions on who we'll get.

  4. I don't think CWT would bring in guys with grade issues. If I remember correctly his contract has some sort of clause about the APR. I'm going to have to go back and search GA's blog post for all the link police on here.

What about Fennell?  You can infer from his HS coach that grades were an issue.  Unless WKU offers something academically that USF doesn't.

  5. This was mentioned in another thread recently, but it probably belongs here.

WKU RB Antonio Andrews may transfer to USF as a graduate student. He wouldn't have to sit out a year. Has a ring of truth, IMO.

This would be a HUGE get.  Only one year to give us a much needed spark, and allow the younger RBs to develop or redshirt.  This would excellent.  When would we know?

  6. Shades of Aycock?  Maybe he'll have a change of heart if he starts missing the game.  UF-Sit a year-Auburn-likely sit another year.  Can't be fun...but he can still get his education paid for, so hopefully someone can convince him to focus on the bigger picture.  Of course, if it' injuries, then that's just a shame.  Best of luck in whatever he chooses.

  7.  AUBURN, Alabama – Tailback Mike Blakely is no longer a member of the Auburn football team.

Blakely played sparingly last season, but was Auburn's third-leading rusher, gaining 153 yards on 33 carries. He had carries in only two of Auburn's eight SEC games, and didn't have a carry the final four league games.

He played as a redshirt freshman last year after sitting out the 2011 season after transferring from Florida.

Tre Mason will return for his junior season after rushing for a 1,000 yards last year, but Blakely's departure, along with the departure of senior Onterio McCalebb, has Auburn looking to replenish its running back crops this recruiting season. Carmeron Artis-Payne, a junior college transfer, is already in school and will participate in spring practice. The Tigers are also recruiting running backs in Johnathan Ford, Tarean Folston and Cornelius Elder.

    ----------------------

So he went from FL to Auburn now possibly to USF?

If I understand the 5 year rule, unless got a hardship waiver, he'd sit 2013, play 2014 & 2015.  I really liked this guy coming out of HS, but knew we had no chance.  Not sure what his struggles are, but if he clear Taggart, welcome aboard.  Of course, we have to try to forget the last Auburn RB transfer, Aycock, who never saw the field [but ate a schollie, short time, I believe]

Sean Price will be showing Darius Tice around the campus.. Tice committed to Cincinnati early last week but changed his mind.

And, Sean doesn't regret choosing USF, when he had his pick of schools.

Agreed...Price is an up & comer, and a great spokesman for the program.

  9. I see similarities to what Strong is doing in Lville.  If Taggart can keep the trend up, there's no reason we can't run the same course, and surpass...I think Tampa is a much better place to live/play than Lville.  If we start to see the hot ramp up, we can sign a long term extension like Lville did with Strong.  Taggart is a local. If he wins big, and gets us in a better conference, it'd make leaving for another school far less appealing.

  10. I am officially intrigued.  Looks like he has the right size and style, but could use some work on technical skills.  Pad level looks high to me, and seems to be otherwise inefficient.  That is what my many years of being an armchair QB tell me.   :)

Looks like maybe a fallback option or preferred walk on kind of guy.

Completely agree.  Hits the hole hard & fast, and seems to cut well.  Very agressive [check out the take down, stiff arm early in the tape].  Could be a low key gem.

http://RunningtheBulls.com - 2 Star RB Darius Tice Will Make Official Visit http://usf.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1466403 …

Maybe we can return the favor to Cincy and flip one of their commits. LOL

Does this mean we think we're out of the running for Kemp, and Dayes?  Woodley is likely still out there.  Even tho' this kid is a 2 star, he looks strong, and put up good numbers in a tough area.

  12. Good luck...we're looking forward to better days with our incoming RBs.  Hoping we pick up Kemp Friday, but if not, another solid back to complement McCray [who actually may be the best of the bunch for Taggart's "wear 'em down" style].

Curious to see how Pierre responds to the competition...and Battles, too.

Don't forget Willie. Video against the highest level of competition in GA

Funny you say that...we do tend to forget.  I went to the Vero scrimmage last year, and he looked as good as any back we had.  Hasn't seen the field much, but he did run VERY hard when I saw him.  I look forward to plenty of competition at RB...and a young group, too.

  13. FSU OC/offensive line coach just left to Miami. Increase chances for kirkland or Denson?

No just makes it better for UM to get him

Yep.  And now Denson is taking an OV to Miami.  Interesting times.

    Kirkland will sign with UM.

That's my guess, but people said the same about Todd Chandler & Elkino Watson, 4 stars in Dade Co.  But they signed with USF.  I don't know if the impending sanctions sway the kids who grew up watching & loving the Canes, but it may nudge a few over the fence.  I'd think UM would some closure on the topic, just so the unknown is killed.  UM getting OC Coley is likely a boon, as well.

We've scored some good OL this season, but he seems like he'd be a good add to our class.

P.S.  Good call on the funny FSU probability goof...guess the Garnett & Gold see 45% as "worst case".
