I read the article and I found it to be informative. It does a good job of explaining the facts as they are now, not what it could be negotitated down to as those numbers are speculative at this juncture. Nothing dooms day here. The deadline is a week away so this is about the time to start hashing up the story to see if it will become an issue. It's on the radar now and the clock is ticking. The problem here is not the BE and Boise; it's Boise and where are we going to put our others sports. The Big West doesn't want them and the WAC is on life support. The only alternatives are to stay put or find another partner QUICK. The article does not say we are at fault, nor does it indicate that the BE is inept in any way. It is outling that BSU is in trouble right now and it may end up effecting us, which is 100% fact.

The ONLY way they come into the BE is if NBC offers a deal predicated on them being able to air all of Notre Dame's games on NBC. Right now they only have access to home games. Signing with the BE they will be able to air all home games and in conference away games. The only way this happens is if ND gets a larger per school cut of the pot. ie they get big 12/sec type $20+ million per year and the rest of us get $10-12 million per year. this is a pipe dream...... Not hapeneing. Witout a BCS bert they only get $12.65Million/year.. Granted most of this is a few years old, but their tv deal football has not bee reworked since then. But still, they need another big player to join with them. they need a rival. BYU will not be big enought for them. Let's say we bring ND into the fold, would our TV contract be worth more than the current ACC deal? I don't know. Will it be better than not having them, yes it will.

Perfect timing. BYU will be past up by the Big 12. The Pac 12 does not have 4 worthy teams in their region to pull from to bring them up to 16. If we bring them in and the ACC gets raided, this might be the move to keep the Big East together and kill the ACC. wow.

So should we make a play at keeping Pitt and Syracuse? Possibly Poach 2 from the ACC to bring us to 16 when Navy joins the league? It would be more advantageous for us to do the poaching as we don't have a TV deal locked up like the ACC which is locked up until 2024(?). I think the long term TV deals puts us in the drivers seat as we can actually negotiate from scratch. I think we are in prime position to reinvent ourselves here. I would hope the BE can afford to pay 50% of the 20 million dollar buy out for any 4 of the ACC, or $40 million. If we bring in 4 more all sport teams can we afford to split from the non FB schools and have a 13 team BB league? We can keep some non football members, ND, Nova, Providence, or GT? I am just asking questions here. I think an aggressive move is possible here and it could turn the tide in our favor, but we need to be bold and choose the right teams that will be left in the cold and deal a destructive blow to the ACC. I think the new BE is a better conference than the ACC scraps, after you remove, FSU, Clemson, VT, and Miami. I am just asking questions here. I see tons of opportunities here if we make the right choices. Then it will go from the ACC looking like they saved their lives 8 months ago to us and the B12 putting a nail in their coffin.

There are only 4-6 schools worth looking into: 1. Notre Dame- are they finally ready to join a conference? 2. UCONN- bad blood with BC. Starting dialogue to resolve the issues caused by the 2005 lawsuit 3.USF- FL market, upgraded facilities. Some recent success in BBAll. ( made the NIT and NCAA 2 out of the last 3 years.) 4. Cincy- GReat tradition. Horrible facilities. they do have access to the Bengals facility if their current stadium is deemed too small. 5. Rutgers- I think this program has peaked, but strager things have happened when additional money is pupmed into it. 6. An upper tier CUSA team like ECu and Southen Miss- doubtful, or Houston, Memphis, I would think Houston is the front runner here. the Acc's options are extremely limited. They need a FB presence and our record vs ACC teams shows we are already competitive in this league. I personally think it is a downgreade in competition for us, but a huge upgrade in $$ resources and perception. $$ talks and that is the reality. Also keep in mind that the ACC has issues with how much "catring" is done to the BB powerhouses. the infighting is not as bad as the BE but the issue still exists here.

Based on what? You just went out on a limb further than anyone else. Probably right, but it's fun to speculate. UL is as good as gone. I really think that FSU will make this move due to the current financial state of their program. the question is who will the ACC want to replace them. UCONN and BC are publicially trying to undo 7 years of bad blood. ND is starting to feel to realize just how alone they are being a FB independent in the current playoff negotiations, and might realize that a conference affiliation may give them a louder voice. Personally, I think ND is the best option for the ACC, but they are still on the fence. The question then would be how long will the ACC wait to move on to the next options:. UC, good school, lousy facilites. UCONN, the BC issue still is not resolved, USF FL market with upgraded facilities, smaller fan base than FSU which hurts us, but we have recent BBall sucess with 2 post season appearences in 3 years. Rutgers, not impressive. There are only 4-6 teams that are not members of the SEC, BIG10, and Big 12 worthy of replacing FSU and we are one of them. We are number 3 ( 2 if ND sticks its nose in the air again). the problem with the ACC is that they are more just as basketballl oriented as the BE is. But hell for 17MM a year, I'll take it.

Time to set aside $20 million dollars as our early exit fee? While Uconn may come aboard before us, I think we are a solid #2 on the ACC's radar.

This is good news, but 1.3 million couldn't make a dent in rennovating the claw. It costs a bit more than that to rennovate a golf course, even just a simple rennovation would exceed that. 1.3 million won't you 18 newly rennovated greens. I hate playing the claw. not a very well managed facility. the track is ok, but it is always in need of rennovation.
