1. Funny you should mention that. Several big time Pitt Alumni are paying for a feasibility study for a 50,000 seat OCS to be built in 2012-15. I think you can have a college atmosphere in a professional stadium, it's tougher but you can. I just want a stadium USF can call it's own one day (it doesn't have to happen right now) I had been to old Pitt Stadium, it wasn't much of a "collge atmosphere" either. There was a track running around the field that took you away from the action. Plus there were nly 25,000 or so fans at the game. It's just tough having a college team in a city with a professional teamcasting a shadow. My remark was pure sarcasm. The stadium doesn't create the atmosphere...The game, the spirit squads the band, the fans, and traditions create that. It's tough when a university and AD do an innefective job creating interest from the community. In the case of USF, they were more focused on status climbing (getting to the big time) than in developing interest in the team.
2. The reason for some not receiving their invoices is the new involuntary seat relocation program. Your seats will now be located in the upper deck. IE: if your seats were located in 113 you will now be located in section 313.
3. You cn check/renew your tickets online, your account number and password are the same as last year. If you don't remember them, they are shown on last years invoice.
4. I just received my invoice and the bonus is we get to pay a month earlier than in previous years...Payment is due March 1, 2007...a full 6 months before the first game is played on Sep 1...they must have read Hugh Culverhouse's manifesto. There was also a notice that season parking passes will be invoiced at a later date.
5. Just wait it get's better... Samford #99 out 122 Div 1-AA teams is coming to RJS Is Dixie Hollins next?
6. USF scheduling to put itself in a position to be bowl elegible is lauded by many here as good program managent, yet when another program does the same thing it's critized as a cop out. Is their overall schedule weaker than ours? Yes it is, but UConn is not as highly ranked as USF is (34/73)...and lets not forget that they have to finish high enough in the BE to get a bowl bid just as we do and we need to beat the same teams to do that. As long as we are scheduling the McNeeses, the Elons, the Woffords, the Samfords, FIU , FAU, and UCF we ought not critisize the schedules of other Big East teams.
7. I'm trying to imagine Mutt on the subway wearing his Bull horned helmet!
8. I'm sure the Gators have fans who live in Tampa and go to Int'l Plaza and Bay Street....Gators, Gators everywhere even in our backyard.
9. For what reason did we schedule the following teams...was it because we want to impress people or was it because we want to go to a bowl game? 87 North Carolina 97 Central Florida 102 Florida Atlantic 67 Elon (Div 1-AA)
10. Resentment is a very real word at UCF and ECU...especially in the presence of the words football and Big East.
11. 3 LOUISVILLE 9 West Virginia 12 RUTGERS 34 SOUTH FLORIDA 35 Cincinnati 52 Pittsburgh 66 Virginia 72 SYRACUSE 73 UCONN 91 AKRON 115 Duke 118 TEMPLE 10 MAINE (D1-AA) UCONN is playing 8 teams ranked above it and 4 teams ranked below it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3 Louisville 9 West Virginia 10 Auburn 12 Rutgers 34 South Florida 35 Cincinatti 52 Pittsburg 72 Syracuse 73 Connecticut 87 North Carolina 97 Central Florida 102 Florida Atlantic 67 Elon (Div 1-AA) USF is playing 4 teams ranked above it and 8 teams ranked below it.
12. Maybe Miller Huggins will be coaching the baseball team.
13. Are Jim and the boys getting in free? ;D They should do this at the WBB game...to help with attendance
14. How can a schedule with Louisville, Rutgers, South Florida, and West Virginia be considered "soft"??
15. Last year it was played on the Thursday (Nov 16th) before Thanksgiving (Nov 23). I watched it on TV in my motel on the way up to Louisville for our game which was Saturday Nov, 18th 2006. In 2005 it was played on Thanksgiving night (Nov 24) in the ice and snow at Morgantown This year it's scheduled for Dec 1.
16. A Monorail shuttle system would work well ala TIA.
17. Joe, Years ago I lived in Carrollwood and in the morning it took 6-7 minutes for me to get past the traffic light at the intersection of Dale Mabry (south bound) and Waters...Until the cops started directing traffic to speed things up :-?...result...it took me 25-30 minutes to get past that intersection for the month that they continued to direct traffic. Captain Al Ford "WDAE Sky" Patrol would fly over every morning and lambast them on the radio. Noles game!! Why in the world would I want to go to a Noles game unless they are playing the Bulls Joe...I understand what your saying...just having a bit of fun...Though I wouldn't exactly say USF is "blessed" with 3 "large" roads.
18. I live 38 miles from the dome, I go to as many women's games as I can, but that's me...if you going to the ND game tomorrow why not come early and see the ladies play...it's only $7 and parking is free...and you will save the $5 parking fee for the men's game. As an old Jewish tailor on Delancy St (NYC) told me when he was trying to sell me a suit that didn't fit..."Such a deal!"
19. Psst! Rumor has it that a guy by the name of Jim started it.
