  1. That sort of logic does not compute. It's what's on the helmet that matters not what hapens on the field.
  2. Rainey injured his shoulder but he should play on Friday. He's even smaller than listed on most recruiting sites but he's a tough kid.
  3. Didn't mean to infer that the staff was at fault for not offering just giving the information I heard. Obviously, I am very pleased by the play of the Bulls backers.
  4. are you sure? With GrothE at QB, Rod's play calling seems to be much better to me. I just hope that he doesn't get GrothE killed by running him between the tackles sooooooo much..... JMHO Is it his playcalling? Or is it the QB? The fact that Grothe has left what 3 games in row? (before cuse) shows that he hasn't learned anything (rod smith). Rod Smith is alot like USF I guess. For every game where all of his calls work out (UL last year) he has a voodoo 5 somewhere along the line to knock him back down. Hopefully he finds the consistency to help this offense compete in every game. The first is a tough scenario I think Grothe has too many carries but he is a very good runner and it does need to be utilized. I wholeheartedly agree with your second point. The crazy trick plays work to perfection vs. L'ville and then next thing you know there is the 1st and goal series at UCONN that had everyone including me pulling their hair out. I'm not sold on Rod's ability to take the offense to the level it needs to be win the BE but I'm not on record for change just for the sake of change.
  5. I think what he's saying is just buy a ticket even if you don't plan on going to the game. Just buy the ticket to bring the USF total up to a larger number thus giving the Bulls more bowl options in the future.
  6. I saw Nate play QB as a senior in high school. He looked like a very good athlete playing QB. I think he can be a very good S if he stays there. I wouldn't think he would be moving to QB unless something catastrophic happened.
  7. I've always liked SU fans. They seem to be friendly and classy. My girlfriend went to Vermont and we were at a sports bar going crazy for the Catamounts when they beat Cuse in the NCAA tourney. After the game a few Cuse fans came over and congratulated us for playing a great game. Now if only the Bulls could catch some Madness!!!!
  8. I will be in Houston over the holidays so I really hope the Texas Bowl comes calling. Reliant is a really nice place to watch a game too. I saw Texas and Rice play out there a few years ago.
  9. No SEC team is worthy of NC this year.  No ACC team is worthy of NC.  No Big12 team is worthy.  What's your point? Add the Pac-10 to that theory as well. Cal laid ANOTHER egg vs. Arizona
  10. I know the penalties have always been a problem but I really don't like how careless we have been with ball lately. The 2nd half was abysmal on Saturday. We have to clean up both the penalties and turnovers to have a chance vs. UofL.
  11. Plancher might be the best back but he's injured. I would really like to see more of Ponton though but I guess we don't know the full story. He's a much better player than Williams, that we do know.
  12. From what I heard, it was a lack of prototypical LB height. He's about 5-10 and the D staff likes rangier backers.
  13. Please stop talking about UL and WVU.  We are setting ourselves up for the dreaded message board look ahead jinx.  Seriously, this has been an odd season.  I really think if we play well, we can hang with just about anyone but we can sure as heck lose to almost anyone too.
  14. For people that actually follow college football, it is fairly normal for fans to prop up their own conference saying it is the strongest, most depth etc. Obviously, BE supporters have a bit of a chip on their shoulder due to all the "drop them from the BCS" talk. I don't have any problem with people on here hoping that this conference has strong teams. In fact, since college football is a perception driven industry given that the most important aspect in playing for a national championship is subjective human polls, we as USF fans need the BE to be perceived as a powerful conference. Otherwise, it would be difficult to get the important pre-season ranking to be eligible for said title game (ie. Rutgers 2006) The only thing I have seen on here that is very peculiar was the suggestion that it would have been best for USF to lose to UL this year if they were undefeated. That is carrying the BE torch much too far.
  15. Very true...but it takes players to make those adjustments happen. Sometimes it's the Jimmy's and the Joe's not the X's and the O's.
  16. No... that would be Lake Howell High School... I thought the same until I looked it up yesterday. The names might sound the same but the communities could be no further apart demographically.
  17. Finishing 4th in any conference isn't very good. That's obvious.
  18. The new Marshall Center is on the moon's surface?
  19. They are better than us this year...No doubt about that. They are 8-0 and beat us at home. To define their entire program by this season or that one game is beyond foolish though. It takes years of continued high level play to make a "program". Neither USF nor Rutgers can make that claim.
  20. That's really true. This is a huge test to see what this team can accomplish. So far, what have the high notes been? Beating a terrible UNC team on the road or losing a tight game to undefeated Rutgers? I don't want to remember this season for losses. Go Bulls!!! Smash Pitt and Palko on Saturday!!!!
  21. The play action was successful last night for UL. In another post, I mentioned how much Cover 3 WVU was playing last night with both CB's and the FS about 20 yards deep. It was difficult to see just from watching how much blitzing they were doing with the 3 LB's and the WS and SS. It could have been a tremendous job of pass protection that allowed all those easy catches. In general, teams that run 3-3-5 type defenses like to bring 5 rushers in passing situations. Obviously, I couldn't really tell by watching on TV but if anyone taped the game, it would be interesting to see how many times they blitzed 5 or more last night.
  22. RB/LB Jamar Taylor had a lot of interest in USF but was never offered a scholarship. He will be going to Alabama.
  23. tell me, what would think of the level of play in a game producing the following numbers..... 5 fumbles 1130 yards 60 first downs 79 combined points 200 yards rushing by a QB in a "gimmick" spread offense relying heavily on a finesse/zone read running game. in case you were wondering that game was played january 4, 2006 between texas and usc. Do you mean "The Game of the Century"? featuring possibly the greatest college football team of all time???
