  1. Greg, the juggling catch was a gift.  But to refresh your memory, what happened near the end, here is what happened.  They were up 31-24 with about five minutes left.  We were driving to try to tie the game.  We got inside the twenty but stalled and had a fourth down and about 5 and 1/2 yards to go.  We decided to kick a field goal.  They jumped before the snap.  The Big 12 refs had one of those 10 minute conferences(and I'm not lying, they took that long) and finally gave us an illegal procedure penalty.  If it had gone the way it was supposed to, we would have been 4th and 1/2 yard and we were going to go for it.  The coaches had already gathered the offense and had called the play before the refs broke their conference and gave us the surprise call.  Our coaches went ballistic with the call. Of course, we then missed the FG attempt. And they got that meaningless interception and return for a TD on a desparation pass with just a few seconds left in the game to make the score 38-24. Doc
  2. South Florida will destroy us!  Take it easy on our poor little I-AA players!!   It's just the I-AA poll and we are that high up because of our past reputation.  We haven't done anything in the last two years to earn that poll position.  We are I-AA and you guys are BCS I-A.  We are supposed to lose. Looks like SW La. is temporarily out of the crosshairs of Earnesto and you guys are closer to being in them.  Hopefully it will go across Cuba, be knocked down to a tropical storm, and then head staight North up the peninsula of Florida.  That would be the best case scenario right now as it would spend the less time over open water to allow it to re-strengthen. We need to get it out of there before Sat. or, even, Friday when we are supposed to travel over. Doc I need a South Florida hat for my collection of hats on my office wall.
  3. We didn't play them last season. They were 8-4 in 2001 which is the season we played them. Doc
  4. Southern Miss must be better than last season.  I wasn't that impressed with them last year to think they could beat someone like Florida. Doc Edit: I guess I should have read all the messages before I replied. :-[
  5. Is that a guarantee... that almost assures it will hit on labor day weekend. so true whenever usf builds a stadium it should have a retractable roof Just so it's not a (hurricane) detachable roof. ;D
  6. South Florida is going to destroy us! Take it easy on our poor little I-AA players!! Doc
  7. With the Cajun influence down here, geaux is pronounced the same as go. So Geaux Cowboys = Go Cowboys. Doc
  8. We did that in 2002 when we left for Lincoln for the Nebraska game a couple days early when it looked like Hurricane Lilly had us in her crosshairs. But we lucked out and Lilly went east of us. Doc
  9. You don't only have to worry about the S. Florida area, you also have to worry about SW La. The storm could screw up McNeese coming to the game. Hopefully not. We had enough of that **** last season. Doc
  10. True, but most USF fans will just blame it on us. > Doc
  11. American Press story on scrimmage: http://www.americanpress.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1776&Itemid=53 Doc
  12. Quick note before I hit the sack tonight. I'd sure hate to be a McNeese coach trying to put together a depth chart for the Qb, RB, and WR positions for McNeese. From the three scrimmages I saw, everybody looked good. We are definitely ahead of where we were in 2004 & 2005 but probably not as good as the NC finalist team of 2002 or the 2003 team. Qb starter depends on how Mark Fontenot abdominal muscle strain responds to treatment. He didn't play tonight. If he is healthy, he will get the start and Fourroux should be second team. If Fontenot can't go, I'd think Fourroux gets the start and Crader, the speedster, is the backup. Both run a lot better than Fontenot. At tailback, Paddy Thomas gets the start by default because he was the starter last season. The backup is a tossup between Kris Bush, Jamie Leonard, Elrick Jones, and Terez Jackson. All of had their moments. Wide receivers. Quinten Lawrence and Carlese Franklin definte starters, followed closely by Steven Whitehead. You can pretty much plug in most any of the other wide receivers. The is the best depth of talent we've had a WR in years. I'm more worried about our DL especially our DT's. Doc
  13. The way your practices are closed, you'll have to find a peak to take a peek. Doc Sorry, E.T., I couldn't pass that one up.
  14. I'l be there camera in hand to take pictures. I'm taking the afternoon off to get there early. Of course, with the Cowgirl kickers and cheerleaders atttending, there will other pictures taken besides just football scimmage pictures. Doc
  15. Tell me about it! It's starting to get debated on our messageboard. Fontenot, who has game experience, is more of a pocket passer and not as fast running. Fourroux can run and pass. Crader is a speedster (sprint track star in high school) who can run very well and also throw some. Then there are two more. All of them are young guys, so we are going to be dealing with this for awhile. But I guess this is better than in the spring of 2004, when our punter back then had to QB both teams in the Spring Game when both of our only available Qb's were hurt and couldn't play in it. Doc
  16. Any of you guys are welcome to come slum on our messageboard before the game if you wan't. It is a Delphi messageboard and the Delphi basic member registration is free and allows you on any Delphi type messageboard. http://forums.delphiforums.com/geauxcowboys/start Doc
  17. ????  What's this about? Just changing the "name" ... will still be seperate. Yep, you guys will be in the Bowl Subdivision (B.S.)  and we will be in the Championship Subdivision (C.S.).  Doc P.S. E.T., how come you have to give a prompt answer and spoil my fun.
  18. As I pointed out in earlier posts, I-A teams playing I-AA teams is going to be a fact of life now a days. It is because of the numbers. It is a matter of supply and demand. There is a big demand for teams to come in and give I-A teams more home games and not enough a supply of I-A teams to meet that demand. Thus, you have to turn to I-AA teams to meet that demand. Plus, because of supply and demand, the amounts of guarantees for those games increase. And I-AA teams are cheaper to bring in than the bottom level I-A teams. Doc P.S. Of course after Dec., there will no longer be any I-AA teams.
  19. But we are just a little ole' I-AA team! You can take us for granted. Doc
  20. All the seniors are acting captains during the season. The electing of permenant captains is a traditional honorary thing. The permenant captains get recognized and get plaques at the annual football banquet. Doc
  21. 35 is good. 50 or 55 is better. South Florida is going to destroy us. Have pity on our poor little I-AA players! They maybe small, but they are slow! Doc
  22. You guys must do it different than we do it. We rotate the seniors as team captains each game during the season. Then after the season, the team votes on permenant team captains. Doc
  23. 1.  Two.  You guys and Toledo. 2.  No.  I'm on the team charter.  We will load up and head to the airport after the game.  A lot of my friends and other fans are flying in commercial and are making a long weekend of it. Doc I'll probably pop in from time to time. I'll be pulling for you guys to win every game this year. After the first one, of course. Doc No, I meant are you gonna stick around HERE.....thebullspen.com?
  24. LOL! ****, you are persistent!! Right now we are a little ole' Div I-AA team with either a very good offense or a nonexistant defense? I hope it is the former and not the latter. I'd feel a little better if the defense shows up more for the annual Cowboy Night final scrimmage this Wednesday night. If not, we are going to be the destroyees, not the destroyers. Doc
  25. If any of you guys are interested or just plain bored. http://www.geauxcowboys-eastside.org/fs081806.asp McNeese Press Release from scrimmage http://mcneesesports.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/081806aaa.html Good article from the Baton Rouge paper on what we went through last year with Hurricane Rita and the resulting problems. http://www.2theadvocate.com/specialsections/football2006/3592536.html Doc P.S. Looking forward to my trip to Tampa.
