  1. I like it how it is now, though I think the tap-off for the next time thorugh start as soon as they hit the last note so it's more continuous. That being said, I think there's something to be said for starting it at dotted half (or quarter, I don't know how it's written)=60 or so and builds into an uncontrollable maelstrom. Hell, it could be a band camp finger/chops drill to see how fast you can legitimately build it.
  2. Unfortunately, it also makes sense mathematically, in that we are an 8 team conference, so even adding ND and Navy into our mix makes us tied with the Pac-10 as the smallest of the BCS conferences.
  3. Nah, not Wisconsin's Jump Around, which I'm familiar with, but they didn't play it, so you could see where some of the Badger Faithful wanted to start jumping, but it wasn't worth writing home about. It was the wave thing they did that I found amazing. I'm with you on things from the loudspeaker that catch on here. The local minor league baseball team no doubt at one point had a late Gen-Xer/Early Millennial in a marketing position, which added, as one of the stadium sound clips, the "Woo Wooo!" from the infamous Bubb Rubb from the whistle tip news story. The fans began repeating it back, and such was born a Grasshopper tradition.
  4. I think us beating UF and Miami will make them want to schedule us even less than they are now... although there'll be less of a shock factor if we complete stampeding the tri-force with them.
  5. As much as it pains me to admit it (because I HAATE Duke) Duke basketball fans are among the best/worst in the country. Cheer sheet or not, Cameron Indoor full of blue faced buffoons in perfect synch is both intimidating and amazing. I'm not saying we need to start scripting, but doing some structured thinking to brainstorm isn't a bad idea. One of the most amazing things I've seen live from a student section was at the 2005 Outback Bowl. The Wisconsin student section (all seated in one section) started--and subsequently controlled--the wave. The sped it up, slowed it down, put it in reverse, and sent it both ways throughout the entire stadium. It was clearly well-planned, but it made it no less spectacular.
  6. You can love yourself and still have a negative outlook on everything else!
  7. ****! I wish I had known this was going on--I certainly would have gone across town to support my fellow Bulls!
  8. bullzfan--they played it my first year at USF, which would have been Fall of '03. It's been a song I always associate with the HOT for that reason, as well as the fact that #8 is essentially a variation on the Malaguena theme and the HOTDL, at least in the '04 season, used part of the percussion part for it as one of their post-halftime cadences.
  9. One I suggested long ago in one of the band threads, though it's painfully idealistic: "I think we could work with a theme taken from Malagueña. I wish I could sing/play the part I'm talking about, so I'll try online. Humor me--think about the break in Malagueña that leads out into the percussion accents at the following: ONE (and two and three and) FOUR (and one and two and three) AND FOUR (and)/ (one and) TWO (and) THREE AND (four and one) AND (two) AND THREE! OK, it doesn't look the best, but count through it, and if you speak drummer, you know what part I'm talking about. Consider that, with its accompanying horn parts, followed by laying with all your might on the following downbeat in the low brass especially with a bass drum/low tom/snares off roll. Lyrics could even be added, something to the effect of (on the above accents) GO!... BULLS!... GO BULLS!/ ...U-S F!... LET'S-GO BULLS! " Also: "-As other schools do, it would be great if there were a portion or reprise of our fight song where we dropped out to just low brass and percussion and the rest of the band sings the fight song. Hopefully it would catch on and people would actually learn the lyrics, and I think it could build into a frenzy throughout the verse with people shouting "HERE AND NOW AND WE WILL WIN THE VICTORY!" If you're familiar with the Cavaliers of DCI, think of their last time through their "We are the corps the Cavaliers" song. "
  10. a $3mil facility: Softball stadium at my current place of employment (UNCG--SoCon): more specs here: http://www.uncgspartans.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5300&ATCLID=234545 $3mil price tag, according ot the above page. "The complex includes a stadium with 500 permanent seats, a press box, a concession area behind home plate, spacious restroom facilities, a grounds storage building and an indoor hitting facility." Pretty nice facility. To put it in perspective, UNCG was once a women's college and still has a woman-heavy ratio, so this may manifest itself a bit in the facilities.

  12. I'm not in love with the inflatable idea, but if we could get something less cheap looking--perhaps a lightweight wood that could be set up on gameday but easily removed--could be cool. Either that, or a unique formation by the HOT to run through. a Power Iconic "U" comes to mind, but that would obviously be a direct ripoff...
  13. (Frawley Stadium, home of the Class A Advanced Wilmington Blue Rocks) (First Horizon Park, home of Class A Greensboro Grasshoppers)
  14. Tell what would make the GameDay experience ideal for you. This is not an OCS debate, but rather, what would you like to see, given what we've got?
  15. burgers and dogs, and the occasional steak, shrimp, kabobs, or linguisa as available/wanted. My $10 Wal-Mart charcoal grill treated me well. Usually some of my programmates and other friends when I was in my grad program at USF. Generally, nothing fancier than the back of someone's car/truck and some folding chairs and a cooler (though a buddy of mine once saw fit to take the bench seat out of the back of his Suburban for the tailgate seating. Cooler was usually full of an assortment of beer/b!tchpop, and liquor (usually vodka or SoCo) and soda/mixers.
  16. I might have to go check 'em at the tourney in Dirty Durham, even if it does mean I have to set foot on D***'s campus.
  17. I agree that they look like horns, and I like it. I stole that uni from Utah, just because it was the first thing that comes up if you type football uniform (or whatever I searched) into google images.
  18. Thanks Jim--didn't realize I needed subtitles! Though I'd say if I had said "wrong idea about our colors it would have flowed a bit better. That, and unclarified pronouns all over the place... whoops!
  19. For whatever reason, I can't get it to resize properly enough to not be an eyesore on the board, but dammit, I spent too much time when I should have been working on this subpar mockup, so at least indulge me by clicking the link to see it. :-) (and forgive its crudeness--it was me, photoshop, and a uniform taken from the internet at work.) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/hustlerbaby1981/uniform.jpg
  20. It's in our secondary color palette, which is different than it being one of our colors. Basically, it means the colors that our green and gold are allowed to hang out with.
  21. The only purple that should be used it already-clicked links. I think even the amount there could give people the wrong idea about colors, even if it is a style-guide approved suitable complement.
  22. Yeah, I saw the counting thing on Best ****. but I remember it from back when it happened--it being all over ESPN, plus me being not far from Philly at the time.
  23. It was from an Allen Iverson press conference in which he went off.
