  1. Yeah, he was underpaid compared to other coaches, but I am saying coaches in general are paid a lot. They are paid because there is a skill they (hopefully) possess to teach people how to play, run offense and defense, and recruit. We seem to have failed in all of those areas. Some coach whining about being fired for losing better have a lot of excuses. Cheating coaches are forgiven because they possess the skill to win. Perhaps cheating helped but you can rest assured that if they don't keep winning when they stop cheating they will be fired.
  2. yeah, working at 7-11 is more dangerous. How many coaches get robbed at gunpoint? Poor coaches and their stress to win... Aren't coaches limited each week in how much time they can spend with the team? $200,000 is A LOT. too bad he only got us 3. oh yeah, and 1 last year. not such a bargain.
  3. I've got in on realtime update from espn insider. we were down 18 at one point but now down 12 at halftime. at least within striking distance. we'd be the first big east team to beat UConn this year, though...
  4. Yes. No matter who the coach is. We are?? uh...yes...maybe they aren't "key" but who is going to replace mattis and buckley? we also lose richardson. do you watch the games?
  5. and I'm glad you are more concerned with the darksiders being pissed off than you are with the team succeeding. really shows where your head is.
  6. I wouldnt be surprised if he was kept because of money, but it'll just mean another terrible season. do you really expect it to get better? we're losing 2 key big guys.
  7. Herm knew this thread would attract gawkers just like a car wreck or the Jerry Springer Show does... just shows that you can't stand not talking to all the darksiders...btw...am I included? heh... (oh geez...)
  8. How does talking about the program ruin a "fun" season? What about this season was "fun"? That's the attitude I don't get. I get what you are saying that everyone is hoping we win, but sometimes it seems like it doesn't matter to people. It seems by that statement that you'd enjoy the season no matter how successful we are. After football season is over and some other sports have yet to get started (softball, baseball), what else is there to talk about? Are we supposed to ignore the negatives and not criticize the program at all until the season is over? What else would we talk about? I also understand not calling anyone a "clown" as Bulliever says, but a lot of people can criticize the program without going nuts and name-calling. Those are completely different things. I don't know the coach personally so I'm not going to judge him personally. However, our team needs to do better and I don't get the point of waiting for the season to be over to say anything negative about the basketball team. Anyway, hopefully it does matter to everyone that we win, but sometimes it just seems like people are too complacent.
  9. I'm glad we had this rule recap...wow, guys... :
  10. I would much rather have been wrong about the team so that I could at least hope for some kind of miracle in the big east tournament. Syracuse pulled it off last year. But whatever, my attention has shifted to the women as I attended more of their games this year than the men's games. We need a few wins to assure a spot in the ncaa tourney, but it looks like we'll be up against UConn in the 2nd round if we beat Seton Hall for the 2nd game in a row, so it's going to be interesting. That's certainly a better spot than the men are in...now Jose is a coach I'd like to keep. But, in the end I'd prefer the men's team to do better because there is a lot of money to be made for the school there, disregarding that march madness is the best time of the year for sports watching. I hope that we have enough money to keep Jose, get a new men's coach, and get that freaking dining hall. We'll see, though. As for this theory...I certainly don't feel as silly as the people that are just la-dee-da about the season and all the losing we are doing. As bad as the team is doing, the excuse-making is getting really old. It certainly doesn't suck to have the proof there of what you have been saying all season. But it doesn't help because the ridiculously positive people (which just end up being at least equally negative to the darksiders, which btw I have not called myself but obviously I'm not happy with the current situation) will just keep on keeping on. At least, when the season is OFFICIALLY "over," we'll finally get the OFFICIAL answer on this subject. Bulliever, for all your keeping your opinion about Mac to yourself until that decision is made, you sure did a lot of talking about how the people that gave negative opinions are worthless, heh. Being so negative gets tiring I guess...but so does losing...oh well. Good job staying strong all season. Edit: I forgot to get back to the point...Of course people want to be right, it adds to their self worth. But it's not as simple as that because most people on the board are fans of USF (then there are stupid UCF posters who have too much time on their hands and of course the people that I wish did not call themselves USF fans but I guess we'll take what we can get). I'm pretty sure the darksiders would rather the team win. In fact, the 2 worst (ari and 83) about turned a 180 after notre dame because it could have been such a big win. I say could have been because now I don't think it means much at all since it didn't lead to anything. I dunno, maybe some recruit will be impressed by that 1 game...and beating Wake...ugh...oh well.
  11. yeah, a lot of players went to the lecture from the former mob guy, michael frazese, right across the street at the sun dome. it was moved up to 5:30 so that it would be over before the baseball game, so a lot of players headed over there after. frazese talked about the dangers of gambling as he does at a lot of universities. woolard introduced him and leavitt was there as well as athletes from a bunch of sports it looked like.
  12. Loaded bases is never a good situation to have your pitcher in. bases loaded gives you an advantage over 2nd and 3rd by allowing you to trade a run for 2 outs if nobody was out, and if 1 is out it could end the inning. walking the bases loaded is usually the move there...
  13. there are teams that suck for a long time that are suddenly revived by hiring a great coach. just because we failed before doesn't mean we have to keep failing. what kind of mindset is that? "oh well, we obviously aren't good at basketball here at USF, it's not the coach's fault, it's just the way it is..." given 4 years to recruit, you'd think that's plenty of chances. as for joining the big east, why is depaul having a decent year? the worst they can do in regular season is 8-8 in the big east, and that's if we beat them! marquette and louisville were in that same conference, too. yes, the big east is tougher than the C-USA, but it's a down year for the big east and that's with the above teams leaving the C-USA as well. basketball history: depaul won the title 50 years ago or something (i looked it up before, you do it this time). does marquette have some history I don't know about before dwayne wade played there? I don't know. it doesn't really matter, but I know that's a big excuse with us. k-state was a crappy basketball team, and now they are doing quite well. why can't we have that?
  14. if by humorous you mean hardly ever saying anything worthwhile, then I agree.
  15. 3 or 4 big east teams could be better than auburn next year. i think that is a stretch well, UL finished ranked higher, WVU finished 1 spot back (2 in coaches), and rutgers finished 3 spots back (4 in coaches). if we beat them I'd declare us better. how much of a stretch is it, really?
  16. 3 or 4 big east teams could be better than auburn next year.
  17. indeed. at least as they called it an "upset"...but still...ugh...
  18. the softball players could eat at the dining hall as well, you know...
  19. Really...easier than tampa to charlotte? something smells he left to coach for more money at a more well-known school in a (then) more respected conference. I dont think anything "smells," heh. anyway, he should have stayed with the leavitt vision, since our current DC makes more than him (although our guy got a pay raise after he left) and we are now better than NC state.
  20. his first year in CUSA he made it to the semifinals of the conference tourny, beat two ranked teams in a row i believe. and no flsportsfan i am not living in la la land, i live in reality and i understand that its going to take time for us to start competing with other big east teams, you who want us to win the conference are living in la la land who said we should win the Conference? I would like to finish in the top 12 yes. And we sucked in CUSA as well. no one said that. I know people are tired of complaints about the coach, but all people (that complain) just want to see is some kind of improvement. I don't think winning 3 conference games this year is a true sign of hope just because it's 2 (or 3 if we win another) more. it's still possibly 3-13! that is terrible and we could easily do the same next year at this rate. and the next...and the next...we were terrible this year, last year, and the 2 years we were in the lowly C-USA. I just want to see some improvement. No one mentioned anything about winning the conference, but if we could make some kind of step towards that, wouldn't that be nice?
  21. I've played every version since 2003 on the PS2. I hope that Ford is the impact player, because running with impact players is a lot of fun. I think Grothe and Moffitt will be the other 2; EA usually does a good job. We should have a lot of decently-ranked players this year as well. I wonder if Grothe will be over 85-90. I look forward to seeing what they are on my PS3...which they better include all the features on because releasing next-gen games without all the features that the previous-gen games have is ridiculous.
  22. yeah, history means everything. I think since Depaul won the NIT title in 1945 (their only national championship), we should take a few years to work up to their current greatness. afterall, it is clearly their confidence from that title that led them to a 7-7 record in the big east this season. why do we need to make excuses for sucking? this is a down year for the big east.
  23. well, Louisville and Marquette seem to be doing well with their "C-USA players." Afterall, they are headed to the NCAA Tournament. Depaul, also with "C-USA players," is 7-7 in the conference and has a chance to make the tournament as well (they beat top-5 kansas earlier in the season and just last week beat ranked notre dame and marquette...so if they beat cincy and us again, they'll be 9-7). But hey, at least we are better than cincy with all of their C-USA players! Oh, and our record wasn't exactly spectacular in the C-USA, either. Memphis is doing quite well with their C-USA players, btw. It doesn't really matter what conference you are in, especially for basketball.
