Actually, I think the OP is right. It's just that the Debbie Downers can't stand anything positive when they are miserable.
I am of the opinion that the only thing an AAC championship gives us is bragging rights over Central State. No one cares who won the AAC. Maybe proclaiming yourself National Champions works for one fan base, but even our delusional fans are too real not to be ashamed to do so. I believe that winning against the powerhouses will get the football world talking about us again. Yes, I know it is hard to win those games when they don't/won't schedule us but that is all we have left. I don't remember many Syracuse or Connecticut games and no one talked about us when we beat them. But beating Auburn at their house at night? Notre Dame, Miami, FSU, WVU, Louisville, Clemson - these are the games that people notice. If a team can go 21 straight wins (Like Central State) and the announcers are quite honest about no G5 team ever getting to the CFP, then the conference title means little and we haven't missed much.
So, I think the OP is right and people just aren't in the mood to hear it. Our team played better this past game. I know that, for some reason, some fans believe that we should be top 10 every year. We will get better. I see flashes of adequacy.
